New Kaupthing CHAPS/BACS Transfers discussion - Friday 24th October

  • Just had a phone call from Karl at KE. He says that anyone who is still missing their money is being investigated on a personal basis. He said that my money was released today and would arrive in linked account no later than Friday, possibly before.

The money is being sent via swift payment.

For what it's worth I believe him.

But to anyone on here who hasn't had an email or phone call to say their individual account is being investigated - it probably isn't.

Get back on the phone to them and make sure they have all your details recorded (as mine went missing first time round).

I can't be sure, but I want to impress upon you that I still think if you don't register your missing money with them it's probably been 'overlooked'.

I agree entirely . Its clear that KE and LY-ING do not know who has and who has not received their money and are relying on us to ring them to tell them that money is missing . What a complete shambles !

Just rung KE again....second time today, just to query why I hadn't been called and to double/triple check that I was on the 'spreadsheet'. Sarah said although she could see that I had called on Monday it wasn't logged...so I was not put on the list to be called, traced etc. until after one of my calls yesterday!! But....I will be called by close of business tomorrow......AGAIN!!! Why do I feel like finding a gas oven and putting my head in it? Just as well it's all electric here.......

Don't hold your breath Greecian ..... I WAS added to the spreadsheet and today I got this:

Further to our recent telephone conversation where we committed to providing a response within 48 hours. Regrettably I have to inform you that the recent transaction from your Kaupthing Edge Account to your nominated linked account has been identified as being held up.

Whilst the instruction was given to process your transaction, we have now identified that the transaction has been held up at the clearing bank. As a result the payment has not yet been released and we are working with the clearing bank to release your payment in the quickest possible way so the funds are available to you as a matter of urgency.

We cannot stress enough that your money is safe and we continue our commitment to you in terms of resolving this issue.

ING Direct will refund the loss of interest on your Kaupthing Edge account that resulted from payment delays. CHAPS fees will also be refunded in cases where the payment was not sent within the normal timescale.

We appreciate your patience and we will update you shortly as to the timing of your transaction being released.

    Yours sincerely,

    Customer Services
    Kaupthing Edge

The STANDARD lies issued to anyone who has taken the time to phone. What Clearing Bank I have asked them .... do I expect an answer ....NO! As many of those already paid out have been HSBC customers it is patently clear it is not the main banking fraternity who are withholding our funds ... so who is?? Will we ever find out? I doubt it don't you. They "appreciate your patience" - well I am no longer patient
