I arranged a CHAPS transfer for the balance of my KE account on the evening of the 7th. The CHAPS should have been carried out on the 8th. It didn't arrive at my nominated account and then some time after 9pm on the 8th my account balance changed to £0.00. Now as I understand it ING had taken over Kaupthing Edge by that time.

Since then I've been watching this website and forum for news.

I rang the 0115 9836331 number on Saturday the 25th. I went through my withdrawal details with them and they confirmed with me the amount of money I am waiting for. I asked if they needed my transfer reference but they said they had all the details. I was told I would be telephoned on Monday or Tuesday. That didn't happen. I have also not received any emails apart from the "Welcome to ING" one just after the takeover.

I am getting sick of waiting now. The money I am waiting to get back is the money I was paid for being made redundant. Luckily I had enough money in the bank to pay my bills but that is starting to run out now. At this rate Icesave customers will be getting their money back (full compensation due in November) before me. Who knows how long it will take to get our interest and CHAPS charge refunded?

I know this probably won't help but if you call them again you might get peace of mind. I emailed 3 times and did not receive a reply but I after phonecalls on several different days someone did take my account details and promise the transfer would be done on Friday 17th but that I wouldn't see it in my bank until the Monday. Maybe I was lucky but it did arrive and the Chaps fee was refunded yesterday so things do seem to be moving albeit far too slowly for those who haven't received their initial transfers. Keep your chin up though and try not to worry as there are a lot of very supportive people here on this forum who have all been experiencing the same upset you have.

Just FWDed my email below to ING's CEO (Johan) and Customer Relations Manager (Richard).

ANYONE in my same situation, please sent them quick follow up email so that it gets their attention. Their inaction is unacceptable.

Their addresses:
Johan de Wit - CEO
johan.de.wit@ingdirect.co.uk

Richard Tilson - Customer Relations Manager
richard.tilson@ingdirect.co.uk

My email to them:
Dear Johan and Richard,

FYI, I have sent the following to the media.

ING has no authorization, nor the power to hold depositors monies at will. ING should immediately return their customers' monies. Any issues with your partner, the clearing bank, or the adminitrators should be work out behind the scenes among yourselfs, and not while holding your customers' monies at ransom.

My main concern would be that if this gets too much media attention people could panic and start a run on ING. we could then end up even further down the list.

I had the E-mail about my money being held in a clearing bank, they have also refunded my £20 chaps fee.. Someone is actually looking at my account as this does not happen automatically.
I have said before I remain optimistic that we will eventually get our money back.. People are forgetting that KE went bust and we did all lose it. The money is underwritten by the FCSA and if ING had not been brought in we would have had to claim from this this body and that could have taken many months.

I do not wish to sound patronizing but for those who haven`t done so. Log on to you KE account and print out the transaction statement, for proof the money was there.

I know its difficult. I am there as well, with the loss of a substantial sum of money.
Chaps requested 8th October : money left my account 8th October : £20 chaps fee deducted : destination account Halifax : Chaps fee of 20 re-funded to my KE account 27th October but dated 8th October: On the spreadsheet and received generic e-mail 29th October. Funds paid to my linked account 4th November

Have just sent the following to ministers@hm.treasury.gs.gov.uk

Kaupthing Edge

Myself and many others withdrew our savings from Kaupthing Edge on the 7/8 October by CHAPS. The monies have left our accounts but have not arrived in our linked accounts.

Edge are fobbing us off and have so far given us three deadlines (that have been and gone) and still no money has arrived.

Edge are not authorised to hold our money and I believe this is a criminal offence.

We do not seem able to get help or answers from anyone. The FSA is useless.

Presumably, the Treasury were responsible for moving our money to ING - so why can't we get it out?

I have also sent an email (see below).

Anyone in the same situation, PLEASE SEND THE TREASURY AN EMAIL. So far, two emails alone won't get their attention.

Letter to ministers@hm.treasury.gs.gov.uk:
Dear Sir or Madam,

You may have received similar emails from other savers in regards to our KaupthingEdge/ING Direct situation.

I am also writing you to ask for help. KauphtingEdge/ING actions so far to release our monies are unacceptable and perhaps criminal.

Many of us who withdrew from KauphtingEdge (KE) on 7/8 October thru BACS or CHAPS have not received our monies in our nominated banks. Many of us received an email from KE on 28 October stating that "we are working with the clearing bank to release your payment in the quickest possible way so the funds are available to you as a matter of urgency”.

Their solution is unacceptable and perhaps criminal. As of 28 October, KE/ING’s official stance is that: you will get your monies, but we don’t know when. There are no clear deadlines, nor appropriate explanations as to why our savings are frozen. KE/ING is holding up our monies without the authorization or the power to do so, I believe that’s a criminal act.

We need your help. Please let me know if I can furnish you with any other information.
• The Prodigy, as you can see from this thread, you're not alone. I also did a chaps on the 7/10 @11:20 £50k to hsbc and still waiting. I have just spoken to KE/ING who are now saying that I will receive the money on Friday

Like you I have had enough!

Then, ING better do something about us quickly. I certainly plan to keep escalating this. The ball is in their side, not mine.

I have said before I remain optimistic that we will eventually get our money back..

That's what I thought in their first imposed deadline on 17 October; then 23 October and; finally, their "we'll individually and manually look into every account and give an individual answer by 28 October".

Today is 29 October and it's clear to me. They're taking us for a ride.
• Financial Ombudsman have just told me that ING have 8 weeks from the takeover date before any investigation can be taken

ING Spokesperson any comments ?
• Just had a phone call from Karl at KE. He says that anyone who is still missing their money is being investigated on a personal basis. He said that my money was released today and would arrive in linked account no later than Friday, possibly before.

The money is being sent via swift payment.

For what it's worth I believe him.

But to anyone on here who hasn't had an email or phone call to say their individual account is being investigated - it probably isn't.

Get back on the phone to them and make sure they have all your details recorded (as mine went missing first time round).

I can't be sure, but I want to impress upon you that I still think if you don't register your missing money with them it's probably been 'overlooked'.
2 accounts:-
1/ BACS requested 7th -left KE 8th - funds received Fri 17th
2/ CHAPS requested 7th - left KE 8th - funds received Thurs 30th Oct.
CHAPS fees returned 27.10.08
