Hi all
Busy cooking day here today.
Managed to make chicken stock in SC yesterday and had it on all night making a chicken broth for later today.
Have made Nigellas spiced apple chutney today and had a couple of Bramleys left so made 2 apple pies...one for later and one for freezer.
Put a batch of dough in BM and have done basic rolls and some knots with poppy seeds (OH favourite).
Does anyone else find that they can`t keep up with the housework when doing all this cooking/baking....it seemsthat to do both is impossible...thats my excuse anyway;) .
DS last day at school today like many others...it was international day today so he went dressed as a spanish matador hehe:rotfl:
D & DD Next week when doing online shop at MrT`s am going to order one of those turkey legs you were talking about and see how I get on with it.
Like many others on here can`t believe how the prices of value stuff are rocketing:eek: .
Hugs to everyone feeling poorly or low esp for Candygirl and the difficult day today.0 -

Hi Panda  Hi Glad  Hi Haribo  (and about time too:cool: ) feeling much more at home now :rotfl:
Snowy - hope Dylan pulls through but it may be you need to make a tough decision for his quality of life I guess - not easy
Went to Tay Barns last night for my GDs birthday and it was fun but I would not recommend it unless you love Butlins food and being surrounded by screaming kids  still for 5.95 what can you expect i guess.
not a lot of OS ing going on round here today so Id best disappear quick smart.
Arms Girls - see ya for a sneeky Friday drink behind the washing machine (turn left by the breadmaker) :rotfl:0 -
Candygirl - have pm'd you; have read back through some threads and was so sorry to learn that your dear Dad has passed away. Snowy - sorry about poor Dylan.I've managed to whiz through the house with the hoover and clean the bathroom that DH seems to have forgotten while I was away. DS2 popped in at lunch time and told me about his friend who has started a local mobile soup kitchen for the homeless. I'm very proud to say that my DS is going to be helping once a week from now on. He helped on Wednesday and found it really humbling. As he says, he has a lovely warm house and a gorgeous wife who really looks after him well despite having a full time job herself, and he cannot believe how many people have nothing.Hope everyone is enjoying the same wonderful weather we have here - it's lovely and warm and my washing is drying nicely.KathyXXKNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

Afternoon everyone:wave:
Pink I can't believe you cried at High School Musical -I can only assume you were crying over how bad the acting and singing were. I'm desperately hoping my sil will volunteer to take dd and niece to see it so that I don't have to. The thought of paying to sit through HSM:eek:
I've spent the afternoon poring over my new Weight Watchers At Home pack -sigh groan sigh. It has to be done though, I'm never going to reach 100 like my Gran if I'm a lardy-bum. So I'll be counting the POINTS values(that's how WWs like to write it:rolleyes: ) in an effort to try and get a grip on just how much I manage to shovel down my gob. It may all be homemade from scratch but if it's a biscuit or a cake or a pudding it aint gonna help me be slim and gorgeous;)
Probably shouldn't have made a double batch of Twink's hobnobs this afternoon then:rolleyes:
Spag bol for tea tonight and half a bottle of wine later (5 POINTS values):D0 -
Afternoon all
Thank goodness it's half-term! So busy at work today, think my job might eventually kill me off. I'm sure that's what the NHS want, then they won't have to pay out pensions. Still have to work next week but don't have to organise DS.
CANDY thinking of you and your family
SNOWY sorry to hear about your poor cat, hugs hun.
Hugs to anyone who needs one. Taking DS to the school disco later, then I intend to collapse and do nothing!
Have a good evening all.

Snowy - sorry to hear about Dylan but don't give up - advice is free and you can ring as many people as you can think of. Also might be an idea to google and see if there are an vet specialists - we alwways take our little budgies to the avian vet which although is a bit of a drive away and a bit more expensive they worked wonders with Keith (our last grey budgie) and I'm sure prolonged his life for a good few years and in the end he went through old age and not his motility problem....
Just popping in as I have been working a lot today (in between being poorly - my stomach isn't getting any better). Can I just say stationery is one of my major weaknesses. I've coped with the nail varnish and scarf fetishes and now just have my stationery and candles ones........ don't think they'll be going any time soon. In fact I have treated myself to a parker pen pump convertor from thewritingdesk and some SCENTED inks!!!!! Package came today and I have been saving it for opening this evening in bed.... (how sad is that :rotfl: ). Right, back to work. But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0 -
Afternoon All
Snowy ((((hugs)))) for you, so sorry to hear about Dylan.
Moliere - welcome back, glad you had a nice time with your mum
Rosy - sounds to me like you need another notebook to keep a track of what is in your other notebooks :rotfl:
Pink & Haribo - your time together sounds great but I am another one trying to find someone else to take DD to High School Musical.
Feel a bit more human now, didnt get back from shopping till 1pm - still had raging headache so had a little lie down.
Spent more money than I planned today but DD has a nice outfit for the funeral and some outfits for Xmas too. Managed to get a xmas pressie for OH and a lovely fleecy throw from BHS - did quite well in there actually, they had 20% off everything.
Anyway no housework or OStling done today and OH has said he will sort tea.
Oh and for the first time I picked up M&S £10 meal - got the chicken.
Have a lovely evening.

Hi all
I've come in to ask for directions... it was warm and people seemed friendly....
I am a veggie living with meat-lovers, and although I cook them meat dishes (with help from packets and jars) I would like to become more OS in my cookery. Is there a thread that will tell me how to do easy peasy things like spag bol, shepherds pie, curry etc with proper ingredients, and also, without having to taste it?
To be fair, OH, DD and DS do also do some cooking, and they will eat veggie dishes once or twice a week, so its not an 'every night' problem.
Tonight we're having curry, chunks of beef cooked in a tin of some sauce stuff. Although I have a nice veggie curry recipe I always end up using a tiny bit of the same sauce and do mushrooms in it.
I'm sure it is nicer to make from scratch, I do wonder how does the price compare if you buy the mixes only on special offer?
Thanks
