OS Daily Thread Friday 24th October

Hi, this is the OS Daily thread for Friday 24th October . It is an 'over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start does just as well.

Morning ladies!

Not been up long but my OH is due home soon and I am up to talk to my friend in America for a couple of hours.

We made a bacon, sausage, potato, onion and red pepper bake thing with cheese sauce last night and it was really delicious. Plenty left for tonight too so that is a bonus! The red pepper came from the garden too which was great!

Might make myself a nice to do list for thiw weekend - I love lists.

Ohhh me too, I love lists - I love the whole crossing them off thing... sometimes I make one job into several small ones just so I can cross more things off my list!! :rotfl:

I am the sort of person that loves a new notebook with all its nice clean pages. How do you all organise the recipies you get from here. Me thinks a new notebook might be in order![/quote]
I love stationery. Oh I LOVE stationery! Paper and envelopes and notepads and spiral bound pads and A4 folders and labels.... drool2.gif Ok, I better stop here! *composes herself* Anyway to answer your question, I print out my recipes from here and put them in a lovely A4 binder with dividers for different ingredients and a list (wooohoooo) at the front. Plus I number all the pages of course... :p :rotfl:

Oh dear, I think I ought to have a lie down now, I am WAY too excited!:rotfl: :rotfl:

I hope everyone has a good day.
smileyhug.gif to all who need them and congrats to anyone who is celebrating today.

    Hello

Sorry havent been around much most of this week..... got a bug Weds and spent most of the day in bed. DH and DD have also had it, not good!!!!

Stationery.... love it, that and kitchen gadgets and utensils are a big weakness... and lists, I am forever writing lists of things, get ribbed something chronic for it! :o

Weds I made JO's fish pie... considering I'm not mad keen on fish (unless it is covered in batter and deep fried...) it wasnt bad. I got the recipe off the Feed a family for a fiver website. :)

We had our credit card statement though and an invitation to add an additional cardholder and they'll give you $20 credit, plus no annual fee for the additional person - so we'll get that filled in over the weekend and claim our free $20 thank you very much! :T

Have also been thinking about starting a new forum for expats on the MS subject.... (moneysavingexpats has a certain ring about it :rotfl:) but not sure yet - have tried before for Aus and it was hard work so we'll see.....

Tomorrow I'm helping out at the lost children's tent at a local show for an hour, it's to raise funds for the playgroup. Other than that a quiet weekend at home doing some chores I think...

Have a good day everyone, and a good weekend in case I dont get to come on again!!

I just pop in now and then.... :)

  • Morning all
wet & drizzly here this morning, still at least I won't have to scrape frost off the car.
The risk assessment letter arrived yesterday, so no doubt a copy arrived at work too. Nothing will happen next week as it's half term, but if I don't hear anything the week after I shall start screaming & hollering.
I must defrost my freezer next week & also do some housework, lol.
Well done to Danny on passing his test.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Good Morning All

I love stationary too, especially notebooks - love Paperchase.

Have woken this morning not feeling good, have headache and feel sicky. Hope it goes off as need to take DD to Chelsmford to get something suitable for the funeral.

Also found I have won a rocking chair on ebay (have been after one for ages) so hopefully will find out today when I can pick that up. Its from Clacton so when I go over there I will have a quick drive down to Jaywick - thats where I used to holiday every year with my Nan. I know its run down now though - such a pity.

Anyway if dont feel better later then not a lot OS will be done, dinner will be something nice and easy with chips.

    x

Hope they start getting things for you Hester.

    Happy Friday all:j

Ooh, stationary -love it. I need to visit Staples today. I must get a new notebook and folder for my French course. I wish we had a Paperchase a little nearer than Bath.

I'm drinking a raspberry smoothie for my breakfast. Made with raspberries from the garden don't you know. They were frozen so it is very cold -not sure I like it really and it is bound to give me indigestion later, raw berries seem to have that effect on me, but hell, they're Good For Me. The kids had bacon sandwiches made with white bread. Unfair or what?

Lunches -kids and OH have pittas filled with ham/hummus/watercress. The watercress is in OH's obviously, my kids won't eat watercress:rolleyes: They also have muffins and fruit (grapes and satsumas).

I shall have leftover rice and smoked mackerel salad. Yes, oily fish and berries
in the same day. Never mind I'll have some wine and chocolate later to balance out the healthy stuff although I think both of those are bursting with antioxidants.

Supper will be something with a lb of mince in it. Spag bol/chilli/keema curry -you know how it goes.

Looking forward to half term which is, frankly, unusual for me as I like my kids best when they're at school. This time OH has the week off so we're going to do lots of fun family things. I can hardly wait. No, really I'm looking forward to it :D
  • Morning,

My name is Squiggly & I am a stationery addict. And shoe addict. And handbag addict. Oh dear.......

And list-making is what gets me through in these busy times :) Very satisfying crossing things off (and it stops me forgetting everything!)

    ((((hugs))))) Essexgirl & Candygirl.

Redruby, have a good break if I don't get back on here before you go!
EssexGirl, are you going to "distress" the rocking chair? I keep eyeing up bits of furniture wondering what I could do to them...
Hester, glad you've got the RA letter & hope something happens!
I know someone's grandson passed their driving test, but sorry can't remember whose!! However, Congratulations!
Mummysaver, I did have a good day yesterday thank you (not sure if you will find my reply on yesterday's thread to you!) although sooo many people's names to remember, will take me a few days. But all very friendly & I think I will like it there :)

Just going to make a sandwich to take with me for lunch (it is going to be fatal being a 1 min walk from a Mr T's next to the office though....) & over the weekend will make some soups to take next week now the weather has got wintery.
Supper tonight - was going to do HM meatballs, but we had mince last night, so might do carbonara instead as I got a pack of 2 gammon steaks for £1 in Asda the other day & have some mushrooms to use up too.
DD's all off for inset day so will get someone to put a wash in the machine too.

Anyway, better get up & moving as it's 8am! And I want to be leaving at half-past...!!!
    Have a good day :)
