I was told by an ING Customer Service Manager that for anyone who hasn't yet closed their account, that it might be better if they waited until the KE accounts have been incorporated onto the ING system before any closures are made. He said just to make withdrawals and then close when things have settled down (not much use to me, as I tried closing my account on 7th Oct and am still waiting for my money).
  • Finally got a reply from Kaupthing, have pasted it below. Hope you all get similar and they keep their word:

    Dear .....

Thank you for your e-mail regarding payment of backdated interest / refund of CHAPS transfer fee.

ING Direct will refund the loss of interest on your Kaupthing Edge account that resulted from payment delays. CHAPS fees will also be refunded in cases where the payment was not sent within the normal timescale.

Regular updates continue to be posted on the website www.kaupthingedge.co.uk <http://www.kaupthingedge.co.uk>

    Yours sincerely,

    Steve Drew

Im keeping £100 in my KE A/C to keep it open as this is the minimum amount you need to leave in there! When I receive my CHAPS refund and interest I will then be closing the account but not till then!

I haven't kept any money in there and I can still log on to my account which is frozen in time ..showing my transfer on the 7 October (which of course didn't happen on that date)....I was hoping at the end of the month to see the interest till the date they actually took the money out and then transfer and close - somehow think that I will still be looking at the same screen by christmas.

BTW I had money with Bradford & Bingley when they were taken over by Abbey ..it was seamless there was none of this waiting until systems were integrated crap...
  • Got my chaps fee refunded today so i consider myself a very lucky cat!
  • My chaps fee has also come in this morning. As interest is usually added on the 1st of Month I am going to wait to see what happens next week and if my missing interest has been added to the minute amount I left in there I shall then close the account. I consider myself very lucky and my heart goes out to the 90+ people I saw on the list on the main thread yesderday still waiting for all their money. I am sure people's health has been affected by this. I also consider myself lucky to have been part of this support forum. Thank you all.

I got the CHAPs fee refunded today as well. Not too worried about the interest, more than enough just to have the money safely out.
