Kaupthing Edge Interest and CHAPS Fee Refund Discussion

  • After I finally got my CHAPS transfer through after 34 days of waiting I sent Kaupthing Edge a secure message requesting the CHAPS fee that they charged me and my 34 days lost interest. I got a response saying that they had passed my information on to the administrators in order to get the CHAPS fee refunded. They didn't mention the interest they owe me.
  • I still have not had a reply to the formal complaint I made to ING Direct about my delayed transfer. Their official complaints process states they will reply to a complaint within 5 working days. Currently this is stating at 15 working days and I still have not had my fee refunded or interest returned.

Their website states there would be more information this week, but it still has not been updated.

I urge others to make a formal complaint and if they fail to reply take this to the FSO.
  • I vaguely remember being promised interest on missing funds by the end of November....now it seems to have gone quiet. Anyone made any enquires?
CHAPS requested 10 Oct, left KE 15 Oct, finally arrived 18.00, 4th Nov :D

I have just checked my account and still no interest for the time my money was lost in the system either
No more offshore banking for me
  • I just checked my account, assuming they will not be crediting money over the week-end and like you, I have not received the CHAPS refund they took when they eventually credited my money, nor have I received interest owed. So, nothing changes and still ING are unreliable, untrustworthy and unable to do what they say!!!!

I have sent a couple of secure messages about this over the last couple of weeks. I had one reply saying they would be crediting the missing interest as part of the usual month-end process and that they had passed my claim for the £20 deducted from the transferred amount to "the appropriate department". I still have about £10 in the account to keep it open, and there has been no interest on this either, so I assume the routine month-end interest has not been processed yet, so I am prepared to give them until Monday before starting to raise a stink, but I'm not holding my breath, based on their performance to date.

They are even trying to rip us off with the delayed interest caused by their delayed BACS transfers. I requested 6 Oct 08 for total withdrawal actioned on 17 Oct 08 by KE/ING. I then received interest at end of Oct 08 for the period 1-6 Oct 08. They therefore owed me for the period 7-17 Oct 08 (also for further lost interest as they did not pay at the end of Oct 08). Today 30 Nov 08 they have allegedley paid this extra interest. However, When I calculate it they have only paid me 70-75 % in total of the interest I should be due (They have paid for about 12 days not 16/17). They cannot and will not get away with this as these erros delays in payments is all down to them and nobody else!

Prior to withdrawing my money my monthly interest from KE was £130 and due to their errors for the period 1-16-17 Oct 08 they are trying to get away with paying me £51 I don't think so!

I am now totally had it with KE /ING and it is the FSA and the media next for me. I have obvioulsy e-mailed KE/ING but will get the usual bull**** answer.

    ENOUGH!
  • Just thought I'd let you know that my missing interest was today credited to the remains of my Kaupthing Edge account, so it looks like they might keep their word this time.

I calculated the interest as accurately as I could, and it looks like they have paid the full amount. This was a surprise, as I fully expected to lose interest for the usual couple of days needed for a normal BACS transfer, but they seem to have paid the lot.

I had the "official" £20 CHAPS fee refunded several weeks ago, but I'm still waiting for the extra £20 they deducted from the transferred amount. I'm almost tempted to abandon this fight on the grounds that life's too short, but then I think why should they get away with it.

PS Max - at the risk of possibly stating the obvious, have you taken into account the tax due on the interest - that would account for 20% of the total. Just a thought - please don't be offended
  • anyone know how to close the Kaupthing Edge account. Have looked throughout the website and found nothing.
    Any ideas?

Looked some time ago and I'm sure it says somewhere (probably the terms and conditions) that you should contact customer services.
