I did a CHAPS yesterday of £30000 which went thru with no problem

I'm obviously very pleased and hope everyone else gets their money moving smoothly soon with no loss of interest.

I am delighted to hear that.

This thread is to relieve the main thread ‘Kaupthing Edge CHAPS/ BACS transfers NEW thread:

I bet they would love to hear from you.

The English arm, Kaupthing Edge were going to somehow ride it out, but when Icesave went bust a large proportion of savers with KE panicked and started BACs and CHAPS transfers of all their funds out of KE.

In my view what happened was the internet equivalent of all the Northern Rock savers queueing around the block.

I have read the KE transfer panicking threads with interest. Personally, I have a significant sum in ING/KE (well in excess of the FSCS limit), but have been quite confident throughout.

Just recently, I have started moving some more money into ING/KE to take advantage of their fixed rate accounts. In a few months with BoE IR most below 3%, these accounts will be unbeatable.
In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:

Everybody has to follow their own destiny but I’m trying to build a cosy nest for my retirement and don’t feel any guilt about pulling my money out of a sinking ship. Savings shouldn’t be subjected to any risk.
  • what about all the phone calls to ING direct and Kaupthing Edge that were made at our expense and kept on hold for 30/40 minutes, they should be also claimed for

Earlier updates were a bit suspect but they have announced that all transfers will be completed today. That’s the first firm promise I’ve heard.

The ship is hardly sinking?? Anyway shouldn't you be queueing round the block?

Sorry but there's too many different font types/sizes/colours on this thread to be able to read it easily :(
