  • Morning ladies!

Bit brain dead today, was up late/early talking to my friend in America last night. Might go crash out again this afternoon.yawn2.gif

N9eav - hope your OHs brother recovers quickly, what a dreadful thing to happen!
PenPin - you might have gone by now but have a GREAT holiday honey and of course we will miss you! *hugs*
NoahsPennilessMummy - welcome2.gif- good to see you posting with us!
    Welcome back r.mac!
Taurus and redruby - enjoy your hols.
    *Hugs* to Candygirl and Essex-girl

M & S are confusing me, cos they only had their £10 offer two weeks ago here but with no TV ads. Now the TV ad is back and they seem to be doing it again! We had two offers last time and the chickens and the sticky toffee pudding were gorgeous! Oh well, I have one more voucher left to spend over there so hopefully it's chicken again for me!

Have some washing on the line and a hovis bread mix in the BM. We enjoyed the fish pie so much my OH wants another one this weekend, which is a bit of a bombshell as he rarely asks for a specific meal - unless it's a sunday roast, and he cooks that!

smileyhug.gifto anyone who needs one and congrats to anyone who is celebrating today.

  • Sorry to the mods .... I dont get on much at the moment and have been reading but not posting much so I'll try and do this as simply as I can ...

    1. The Lady looking for wood for a wood burning stove - One you might not have thought about is roofers. OH is a roofer and we have stack of waste wood which we burn on an open fire. So get phoning your local roofers and remember it saves them a skip so they will be glad to be shot of it.

    2. Keeping warm and making christmas presents - I am currently making crochet blankets. One for my 2 yr old for her bed and one for an elderly Aunt to put over her knees when watching television... This kills two birds with one stone as you are making an inexpensive gift if you can find cheap wool (boot fairs, markets, freecycle) and also as it grows it keeps you warm over your knees

    3. Panasonic breadmaker - binned the second tesco one recently and had a panasonic one bought as a birthday present from my mum. Am currently making chesea buns and cant believe how easy they are :T

    which leads me onto 4

    4. Christmas presents - for my nans/aunts and elderly family relatives I am going to make a loaf of bread and some chelsea buns in a basket for christmas presents... Tescos are currently doing a white plastic basket for (cant remember how much... think it was around 50 or 60p) and it would double up as a kitchen cupboard basket or bathroom basket afterwards.

Nice to catch up with everyone and I will try not to be a stranger... Am still on the waiting list for my op and my 3 months runs out on 23rd Dec (2nd daughters 3rd birthday  ) so who knows it could be christmas in hospital :(

    Afternoon peeps

I`m a bit late on here today as it`s been a busy morning.
I got home just before midnight last night and prepared all the veg for the slow cooker and left it on overnight with a lovely ham hock inside with all the veg.

This morning i`ve taken all the meat off the hock and chopped it to make other things, the veg was blitzed and it made 6 bowls of lovely lentil soup, the hock has made 3 days worth of gammon and salad sandwiches and the rest is sitting in a container in the fridge to make gammon and mushroom pasta for tomorrow.

I`ve cooked the pork and peppers etc in the marinade that i mixed yesterday so now that can be reheated with some egg noodles for oriental pork later today.

It`s very very windy outside and rather cold as well, i hung out 2 thick coats that i washed overnight and it has done a good job of taking a lot of the moisture out of the material, i`ve just popped them on the radiators for when the heating comes on later.
The dw and bm have jst been emptied and the kitchen is once again clean and reasonably tidy and Mr Sunnyday walked the houndies this morning and they are both now fast asleep.

I shall be setting off for w*rk shortly as shall be calling for my flu jab en route so i hope that the traffic isn`t too bad.

((((HUGS)))) for Snowyowl & little Dylan, Mrs Mix i hope that your doggie is feeling better soon.

N9eav - What a terrible thing to happen to your BIL, it`s really good to hear that he will be ok and that the attackers have been caught.

PenPen - ((((HUGS)))) for you today, hope that you have a much better day at w*rk unfortunately these things do happen but i`m sure that everything will come out in the wash so to speak.

PenPin - Have a lovely holiday.

Essex girl & Candy girl - ((((HUGS)))) for you both.

    Welcome to Noahs Mum :hello:

Ivyleaf - Glad that you enjoyed your hols, Cornwall is my favourite place

I`m off to dig my thermals out as i shall be spending much of my afternoon outside so i need to be prepared.

Catch up later peeps, have a nice afternoon.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

Welcome back Claire, good luck with the op date, fingers crossed that it isn't over Chrimbo.

Thanks for the tip about the calendars, will go and have a look tomorrow. Nothing is shifting me out of the house at the mo, the wind is howling and somehow by staying here I believe that the roof won't blow off lol! Have to go and collect dd3 from her craft club later, but then that'll be it for the day, no w**k tonight, yippee!

We are still having an awful lot of reductions at work, got broccoli and mushrooms all reduced to 7p last night, and some kiwi fruit - dd3 loves fruit salad so will let her mix some up with the ys pineapple and ys raspberries, what a kind mum I am! Anyway our reductions are done between 8 and 9pm at my Mr T's, and the fruit and veg are reduced to 10% usually. Last night there were loads of fruit salads, parsnips, salads, apples, exotic fruit, chestnuts, potatoes, prepared veg. There were swarms of customers all filling trolleys, so I hope they have big freezers! Got mine after they'd gone!

Right reports done, need to freeze the raspberries that won't get eaten today, and make next week's meal plan so I can get stuff ready to take with me. Got to take moski and debating whether to try and squeeze my panny in the car too, lol, kids have given up rolling their eyes at me now, think they rolled them so much they gave themselves headaches!

    Edit:

Noahspennilessmummy - welcome to the daily!

Glad - sounds like you're feeling better, hope you are!

  • Thanks mummysaver.

You still have raspberries? Thought they had finished now.

Got the dough for the pizzas in the BM now.

Hi all, not posted on here before.

Have just finished (brought in) salad for lunch - not great as it was chilled and I feel cold now!

Boil up chicken carcas for stock tonight and will make ristotto from dark meat, stock and mushrooms.

Also have some apples which i need to sort - bough them as they were reduced and british but not a big fan of eating apples raw; can anyone advise if coxes cook well? If so may make crumble tonight.

I don't have raspberries in the garden, got some perpetual spinach and a lot of very tall grass though! Got them reduced at work to 30p a punnet, thought that was quite expensive for reduced ones, till I noticed they were originally £2.99 - eek! Must remember to look in Lidl's tomorrow, apparently they have fruit bushes reduced to 79p now, thanks to whoever posted it on the grabbit thread!
