mummysaver - I can't believe the bargains at your work! I've never seen reductions like that and I thought I was a good bargain hunter
Must make a mental note to start going between 8pm and 9pm and seeing if there is anything for the freezer.r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
Afternoon Everyone
Its really windy and showery here and feels more wintry than autumnal
OH is finally beginning to recover from his bout of the flu.Still not right but a lot better than he has been. Its his birthday Sunday so hope he's recovered by then as its not nice being poorly on your birthday
Not done much OS as I've been to Morrisons this morning and I cant get much done with OH hanging round the house.
Beef Stew and Dumplings for tea as I feel its rib-sticking food that the kids need in this kind of weather.I'm going to make some mini donuts for them to dip in melted chocolate for pud.Not exactly healthy but with all the veg in the stew I think a treat wont do them any harm
For all those off on hols next week I hope you have a good time and I am soooooooo jealous:rotfl:

r.mac - we have specific areas where the reductions for each department are put, the dairy/chilled section has one, bread has one, flowers has its own and so does fruit and veg. If you find out where these are you'll know where to look! Sunday about 3pm is always a good time as the store shuts at 4pm and they just need to get rid of the stuff! I'm sure the credit crunch is making a difference as it's generally the more expensive stuff that is being reduced now. Anyway good luck with your hunting and prepare to need a bigger freezer!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000

Ah now I see. One thing I had noticed in our local 'T' is that the reduced counter seems to be more full of ready meals now than it used to be0

AARRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH
Afternoon :hello:
I was flitting around FIL's house yesterday - dusting with an old sock - when I crunched down on something, I spat it out and there was half a tooth  If one more person says 'go to the dentist' then I'll scream (how do they all know? They can't see it, it's right at the back of my mouth. I must be the lastest topic for gossip or something). I can't go to the dentist cos I have no money  I'm using those little interdental brushes to keep the remaining bit clean, that'll have to do for now.
troo's tip of the day - check which flour you're using when making a cake. I emptied the remainder of a bag of SR flour onto the scales then grabbed another bag out of the cupboard. Baked the cake and it was soggy in the middle. Then I realised the second bag I'd grabbed was strong bread flour. The cake is horrible :rolleyes:I am a coffee bean0 -
Afternoon all
PP have a good hols.
The letter arrived today from Occ Health with a list of recommendations, personally I don't believe anything will be done, but I'll wait & see.
Liver, bacon & onion for tea tonight, yummy.
After a whole week of messing about we finally got the work rota for next week & yippee, I'm not on it, so I'll be able to spend time helping DD sort out her new house. I also need to do some serious tidying in my house.
Have a good evening everyone.
Hugs Hester

I know its not OS but I just have to tell someone My lovely gorgeous grandson Danny passed his driving test at the third go this afternoon and I am walking on air for him:j :j :j as he was getting so despondant as all of his pals had passed ,even his pretty girlfriend had.
He will be 18 next month, and is the light of my life as he is such a smiley faced lad who is normally always cheerful.Needless to say he will be getting a cheque from his Granny towards his car:j :j :j brightened up a gloomy Thursday afternoon no end .0 -
Afternoon all,
Rotten day here, rain wind and more rain...>DGS's school had their annual Harvest Thanksgiving this morning, its only a short walk from the school to the church but they were drenched. Lovely service and the new rector took part which was nice.
Having some streaky bacon with turnip and onions and steamed potatoes for dinner, the rest of yesterday's crumble for pudding.
Spent some time sorting out my larder cupboard to-day ( very grand name really for a high wide and shallow cupboard!) and as I was sorting stuff all over the kitchen floor Ulick's eldest sister and youngest brother arrived to see him...they always pick their times. Brother lives in Boston and his daughter plays soccer for Ireland so he is here to see her play on Sunday...as usual he brought us some of his delicious honey!
They were both impressed with how well Ulick looks so were satisfied that he will hang around for another while...was nice to be able to give sister some apples, lettuce and spinach all home grown. Was very impressed with her long jacket that she knitted with wool bought for €2 in Oxfam...she is a natural OSer.
Going to finish scarf for DSIL and might get his hat done to-night too....red as he is from Cork and an avid Arsenal fan and both teams wear red...
Hugs to all in need or want, welcome to newbies and congratulations to all who are celebrating. Thank you for being my friends

Hurray, congratulations to JackieO's grandson - no matter what exams you pass in life the driving test is THE one which is universally useful. Lucky boy to have you as a gran Jackie, and I'm sure he appreciates you.
Dylan update: nowt out:( The vet phoned me just now for an update (yes I know, the vet phoned me, how good is that!!!) but Dylan has an appointment in the morning anyway. Fingers crossed that the drugs do their job between now and then.
The offer letter for my new job arrived in the post today - OK I have had verbal offers, but actually getting it in print is so much more reassuring. Come Monday I'll be back in the ratrace:rolleyes:;) and just as well too considering I am managing to spend heaps at the vet these days.
NoahsPennilessMum, hope your hair turned out OK. I can't stand going to the hairdresser, all that fussing and faffing gets on my wick, so I just do the colouring in of the white bits myself.
I'm off to my friend's house for the evening, be good everyone.
Bye

Snowyowl good luck with the new job.
Im feeling rather pleased with myself today, have managed to make soft rolls... they usually go hard for some reason. Have made chelsea buns (might spoil myself and have one with custard for pudding) after my homemade pizza.
I have also put some things on freecycle and some of those have already been picked up and then the lady whose husband picked up the clothes for a 2 yr old phoned me and said how happy she was with them all.. I thought that was really nice.
