Os Daily 23rd October 2008

Hi, this is the OS Daily thread for Thursday 23rd October . It is an 'over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start does just as well.
Good Morning ..or is it still night,, its dark outside and dry
I am not used to this as I have been sleeping quite well but last night ,,well ,, snoring is a word I am beginning to hate,,,
I made my bread last evening and am now happy ,,its the little things that matter isnt it
We are off to the dentist today ,, again..
We have to peel lots of apples today and do something with them ??? Dont know what yet ..we have cookers ,,eaters and some off a tree that is next to Asda in Doncaster,, we stopped to pick some one evening
Well I hope you are all well
See you soon
Ann xx

Morning.
Like you said, still dark here and very still. I guess we are supposed to be getting a storm today, which is a little unwelcome as I have a fishing trip tomorrow.
Back to work later for an odd ahift as there is a meeting this afternoon. It's one of those shifts that's too late to start anything and finishes too early to do anything as well....
We had 2 large boxes of cooking apples given this week and I see that they are all cut up nicely and frozen down.
I hope there will be a freezer full of fish tomorrow too!
OH went to see her brother yesterday who was stabbed pretty bad in an incident on Tuesday. He will be OK, but got cut up when someone attacked him. Thankfully the 2 offenders have been jailed for attempt murder.
I hope I won't be here tomorrow as I will be several miles off mevagissey in a boatNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Good Morning All
N9eav thats terrible about your brother in law - I dont think I would ever want to go out again.
Feeling bit more with it today, thanks all for your kind comments yesterday re Nan. Will speak to my Uncle later and see if he wants some help with the arrangements.
Hve plenty to keep my mind occupied today. Need to spend some time in the office this morning but not too long. Will clean bathrooms and kitchen and possible hoover but OH said he will do that.
Really want to try and make carrot cake today, also need to sort out tonights dinner, have some pork chops in the fridge that were to be cooked on Tuesday - think will give them a sniff and if they are OK that will do for tonight.
Off to jump in the shower - have a great day.

Gosh N9eav,,that awful about your brother in law ,,glad the culprits have been caught..

Morning all :hello:
Struggling to wake up this morning. It's very dark outside, so my body clock thinks it's still sleep time I think!
N9eav I hope your brother in law gets well soon, that is terrible that he was attacked. I hope the fishing goes well for you tomorrow too.
Not too much OS for me today, work soon and DSis is coming and we are off to enjoy an Indian meal tonight.
I hope everyone is well and hugs for all0 -
Going to do things simply today. Tins of soup and some fresh bread. Can't be doing with anything fussy. I'm not in the mood.
Oh went out to a RAF reserves intro night yesterday. Left me with a grumpy baby that wouldn't go to sleep. She eventually went off, but then she got up again about 30 mins ago. managed to get her back into bed and I'm now waiting for lift off again.
Previous days I'd tried to talk to OH about the raf reserves. Tried to get it into his head that he'd be away from us for months at a time potentially. Looks like the people last night managed to get that into his head. He came home talking about missing Lily.
Not interested in me in any way shape or form...just Lil.
Unfortunately its something i can't help him with. Its a decision he's going to have to sort out for himself. Its something he wants to do.....but he doesn't want not to be there for Lily. Bless his heart. I'm sure he'll sort it out.
Today I'm off up town for yet another trip to pick up my daily dose of lego from the Mirror & woolworths. I'm going to give it to my nephew at xmas. Just means me and the monkey get in lots of walking. She's decided she likes to walk (with the help of grapes)....so a quick trip out now takes 2 hours! And we come back knackered, but refusing to sleep.
Hugs to those that need them....and a big wave to all.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move
Lily contracted Strep B Meningitis Dec 2006  Now seemingly a normal little monster.
Love to my two angels that I will never forget.0 -
Morning all,
Overslept 10 mins this morning, I hate that as it puts the whole morning out, still dark here but suprisingly warm, we are meant to be having a storm too.
W**k again today, still only two days left and then we are off on holiday :T can't wait.
N9eav hope your bil makes a speedy recovery, and good luck with the fishing.
Candy, hugs to you sweetheart, xx
Essex girl hope all the arrangements go well for you xx
Kaat, I dont know if you can freeze apples without stewing, someone will cone along with the answer, but I never peel mine, which makes life a bit easier.
Need to empty the dw before work, and have a swish round, something with chips for tea.
Aussie where are youits gone very quiet without you
Also Stef, where are you ? xx
Have good days all x0 -
Morning all
Another flying visit from me.
Hugs to Candy, Essex, PP & Smokey.
Hubby was like a dog with 2 tails this morning when I took him to the station for work, no doubt he'll be back down again tomorrow, as there doesn't seem to be anything else in the pipeline.
Have a good day.
Hugs Hester

Morning All!
Still dark here. Is it this weekend or next the clocks go back?
Having my roots done today, My hair is now a mixture of blonde, grey and sort of dark:rotfl: DS is in bed, will have to wake him in a minute for college.
N9eav, awful about you BIL. DS was walking back from the Hastings Bonfire last Saturday night when he was clobbered by some idiots. They only hit him round the head, but it frightened him (and me) a lot. He doesn't know why tho, although he was wearing his "Slipknot" jacket. He's such a quiet boy, he never gets into fights. I was just thankful he was okay. Told him NEVER to walk again, and if he can't get a taxi, phone me to come and get him.
Going away this weekend to OH. Littlehampton have their bonfire society this weekend. Should be good.
(((((HUGS))))))))))) to all who need themI Believe in saving money!!!:T

Good morning everybody :hello:
I'm off to the farmshop and supermarket today. I'm fed up of taking a huge wad of cash and coming back with a tenner if I'm lucky. I never seem to have any left to top up my phone, buy petrol or the new clothes dd seems to suddenly need. Luckily I've always got enough for a new cookery book:oI know everything has gone up but I seem to be buying too many unecessary things as well:rolleyes:
So, first job today is to ruthlessly ammend my shopping list bearing in mind what we already have in the cupboards.
The kids are eating toast for breakfast. I wish I'd done beans on toast now, just toast doesn't seem enough although ds2 and dd will have fruit as well.
Lunches today are cheese rolls, muffins, apples and orange quarters. I'll finish the pate with some toast.
Supper will be some sort of veggie stew or curry I think.0 -
Good morning everyone! It's dark here, but I'm hoping for another sunny day :j YM and WM are both on.
I've been having mixed results with my BM recently (bread not rising properly and having a very open texture) despite my not making any changes to method or ingredientsI wonder if the manufacturers are altering the specification of the flour
So I'm going to make a couple of loaves by hand today. I'll also make a cake and some cookies. DD is away with Scouts over the weekend, and has requested Rocky Road :T
I've nearly finished knitting my fingerless gloves, so want to get them done this afternoon.
DS is playing rugby after school and won't be back until 6:30, DD is at her work experience until 6pm, then I'm out to choir at 6:30. Think I'll leave getting everyone's tea to DH :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: He can do "pasta and something"
I had a dreadful day at w*** yesterday. One of the volunteers was in a foul mood and wanted to pick fights. Unfortunately, I was on duty, so it fell to me to sort it out. She then complained to my boss. We went to see the boss, I allowed the volunteer to speak first, and didn't interrupt, despite her telling outright lies about what had happened. When I tried to give my side, she kept interrupting and wouldn't let me speak. In case she submits a formal complaint, I've decided to write down exactly what happened while it's fresh in my mind.OH went to see her brother yesterday who was stabbed pretty bad in an incident on Tuesday. He will be OK, but got cut up when someone attacked him. Thankfully the 2 offenders have been jailed for attempt murder.
That was quick :T Does that mean offence to jail in less than a week? Hope your BIL is better soon.
Essex girl - my condolences to your family.
thriftlady - I thought your book-craving was under control
Snowy - hope Dylan isn't too poorly today
Hugs all round, Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0
