the faceplate isolates the adsl from the rest of the line, ring wire is no longer an issue.
given a choice of £25 for a reputedly superb adslnation faceplate vs £15 for a faceplate to bypass a wire which may not be connected...I'd not be saving moneyUtinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -

p.s - With the XTE-2005 you just remove the existing connection (where the telephone/ADSL cables goes into) and put on the new one, right? Thanks.0 -

I have one and it works great, just get a cheap krone tool and you are off. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Crikey that looks much more complicated than the I-Plate. My plate has the wires hidden in the back. There's no way I'm touching them.
I was hoping you could just take the old one out and put the ADSL Nation one in. I guess not.
Thanks btw.

You only need to connect two wires (2 & 5) on the XTE-2005. If you can't do that then the Idiot Plate is for you! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Thanks. I'll get the I-Plate. It's not my flat, so I wouldn't want to risk it. If it was my flat I might risk it. Thanks guys.

bradavon...read the rest of this thread...all the i-plate does is bypass 1 wire, exactly the same as undoind 2 screws and...er...undoing 1 wire (if it is connected) is it worth a tenner to you?Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0

A quick question:
I have 8Mb but it usually connects at 7Mb. What is the chance the I-Plate will bump this to 8Mb? Thanks.bradavon...read the rest of this thread...all the i-plate does is bypass 1 wire, exactly the same as undoind 2 screws and...er...undoing 1 wire (if it is connected) is it worth a tenner to you?
Which wire? I've read through the thread, about it usually being orange with white stripes. I have two orange wires with white stripes and the wires are also right at the back, mostly behind the plastic. I can barely see them.
There are no numbers next to any wire. There are numbers on the front plate (the one you remove) on the rear of it but that has no wires going into it.0 -
That definitive
. Thanks guys. I guess this is more for people with less 1-2Mb connections then.
