  • I am the craft equivalent of a technophobe, although my Sister is ACE at it! She makes bead jewellery, knits, sews, paints etc. The gene must have passed me by.

howver, she often tells me I'm crafty, but she must mean another way :p

So I've killed the second shredder in two days and can someone please tell me how I managed to get to Tescos and not notice I still had my slippers on til I got out of the car?

Does anyone else here knit/crochet or do stuff with a sewing machine? I find that creative stuff and getting lost in a good book helps with both the pain and the depression.
I can knit and crochet, except I can't crochet at the moment because it's taking too much concentration and my hands protest too much at holding such a small hook and fine thread.

I'm currently knitting a cardigan, and I've only got half a sleeve and the border to do, but I'm having trouble keeping the pattern straight, and my hands and concentration give out after a coupe of rows. I started it in June or July - at this rate I should have it finished by January..

I count it as a victory if I'm still in bed at 8.00 am.

Regarding the amitriptyline, what time are you taking it? I was advised to take it early in the evening (6.30 - 7.00 pm) cos it take a while to 'kick in' and if you take it just before you go to bed, it'll still be affecting you the following afternoon.

You will probably find the really dopy effect wears off after a couple of days - when I first started taking it, (after we'd got past the horrendous headache and muscle pain it induced) I slept like a log for the first couple of days after the dose was increased, but soon reverted to my normal sleeping pattern. The difference it makes is, a) I'm more likely to be able to stay in bed if I wake during the night and b) I'm less likely to have to get up 2 or 3 times during the night to go to the loo, therefore I'm not lying in bed for anything up to an hour waiting for the pain in my feet to subside enough to be able to get back to sleep.
I confess. After I came on here til my laptop battery died (still in the warmth of my bed) and then read my book (still in the warmth of my bed) and ate my "breakfast" (still in the warmth of my bed) I may've fallen asleep, in the warmth of my bed. OH rang me at 3.30pm which then woke me up, and now I'm back on here (you guessed it, still in the warmth of my bed). :p

I have discussed with OH my Ami taking routine...and we suggested that maybe I should take it earlier in the evening and then by the time I'm actually ready to sleep I@m not waiting for it to kick in. But, so far, due to my unorganised behaviour, I have not done a thing about said discussion!

You're supposed to let them rest once in a while you know.

As for the slippers, at least you didn't get into work, spend nearly all there without realising that you hadn't done your skirt up.

Look, I'm easily distracted, okay! I've only got to do 1 extra thing in the morning and I can't remember if I've dressed properly or not.

Given I've got the concentration span of a gnat and the memory capacity of a goldfish, I took to setting up reminders on my pooter to tell me to take various meds that have to be taken at specific times of the day. I don't do it with my pain killers, as the pain reminds me it's time to take them, but things like amit, and one or two other daily meds, it comes in handy to have the reminder. It doesn't always work, because I've been known to cancel the reminder, then promptly forget to take the tablet, but it helps.

I have a beam loom that I bought cheaply from a little craft shop (which I LOVE going in) which I haven't investigated yet... I have to be in the mood.

How are you killing these shredders? Are they not just overheating and need to be left to cool off?

Don't ask me about the slippers thing... I'm sure I'm worse!

LOL There's something to be said for having a husband to help you dress, methinks.;)
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • ive done that with the slippers before....actually i have managed to get into the shop without noticing before.

reminders on the computer, what an excellent idea....how do i do it? i managed t0 get the new yahoo mail calender to do stuff, but i went back to the old version and havent managed to find the calender again, must remember to look later.
  • I take the Ami about 9ish or 10ish and tend to go to bed at around midnight - just in time for the audio book or Radio 7 which lulls me to slumber. I thought this would be OK given that 10mg is such a tiny dose.

s/e - at least you had your skirt on!!

I think I'll head for my bath and read. Hot steaming bubble bath and a good book - must try not to fall asleep in it though!
p.s The reminders are excellent idea. Do you use outlook for it or an external programme? used to have a really good calendar download on my old laptop, but can't remember what it was called.
oops, typing, spelling etc going downhill fast.
    Rubber duckie time. :D

    Ditto.
Only I've been known to set up reminders on my phone instead, as that's (believe it or not ;)) far more likely to be with me at all times.
I've given to taking all my daily meds at the same time, so I can have a sit in with my bag of tricks and not move til they've all been taken, when I'm getting in bed. If I start messing about with the time I take em I just KNOW I'll forget to take any of them... :rolleyes2
