Thanks for the story - poor bloke! :D
I used to have a terminal fear of injections - funny how you get used to things ain't it  :D
Yeah - I also used to freak out at the thought of a needle. Two pregnancies and god know how many other tests later, although I still don't like 'em I can cope with 'em.
am pretty stoic about things that need to be done to me in the name of medical. I did not enjoy them taking a sample of synovial fluid from my elbow when I broke it to check I didn't have an infection in the joint.
The A&E bloke said he would "sleep better if he knew it wasn't infected". Oh well, in THAT case, do please go right ahead!
Well, you'd hate to be responsible for someone having an iffy night, wouldn't you?

At least my Rheumatologist apologised when she realised I'd had the bone marrow biopsy.

Right, I must now go a clear all sorts of things in the kitchen so they can start installing my central heating tomorrow. One large pot of freshly ground coffee and and a handful of pain-killers coming up!

Me too! [What was that someone posted about pain sympathisers? I'm starting to feel like one now.] Just washing my hair is too much to do in one go these days. As for styling it once I've washed it... well, I can probably dredge up the energy to do that once every 2 or 3 weeks. Thank god for perms is all I can say - wash, comb, scrunch and ignore it.

And thank God for naturally curly hair, for the same reasons! :D

Afternoon all, I don't really have much to say today... believe it or not ;)

My dearest darling fiance crashed my car last night on his way home from work, so I had to go pick him up from the back end of nowhere at stupid o'clock in the morning. Between dealing with that and getting up for church this morning I'm a knackered old wreck! Good news is, though, that we have a church for the wedding! Yay! :j

Thankfully OH didn't get hurt, neither did his friend, and neither did the other drivers. The car may well be a write-off, but the other driver admitted it was all her stupid fault :T

My spasmy nerve annoyances are getting worse by the day so I'm really hoping the good ol' GP has something useful to offer tomorrow...

Anyway, a friend collected me from home and took me up to A&E - you know how these things typically get to their worst when the surgery is closed.

After I'd been 'triaged' and whipped into a cubicle, a male nurse came along to do some blood tests. Top tip folks - waiting until they've got a needle in your vein is not the time to look at your friend and say "have you noticed how they don't say just a little pr i ck any more?"

I'll give him his due - he kept that needle still, but I think he must have done himself an injury in the attempt.

Lol :D The good old "sharp scratch" trick now innit

Have you also noticed that they always say "worst bit's over now luv" and they're completely lying through their teeth? The worst bit, actually, (I find) is when they're changing the tubes on it, and they're mauling about with it all while it's in your vein. Eurgh. Grim. Just grim.

    good afternoon everyone :)

s_e another tip for your story is to not read it just as you are taking a large gulp of hot coffee:rotfl: i almost spat it all over the screen , thank you for making me laugh ;)

im the same about blood tests now, the 18 months of almost constant tests to rule out everything other than FMS pretty much cured my fear!

I also lose huge amounts of hair, i keep mine long as its naturally wavy and i can wash it and leave it to dry and then just loosely clip it up for work, im not blessed with the sort of face that would look good with short hair  i have been told numerous times that everyone loses lots of hair each day but now when i run my fingers through it, i pull away with hands full. It isnt looking too much thinner as its very thick but people comment about the amount i have on my clothes! This is one of the reasons i have the gp appointment next week and having a thyroid test as so many people mentioed thyroids when i first started reading this thread :)

bigzippy im glad your OH was ok after the crash :)

well we will be eating sunday lunch at about 6pm :T takes me ages to get the veg prepared and everything organised, i do a little then go to have a rest then a little more until its all ready to go in :o yes on the dla forms they say i dont qualify for care as i can prepare a meal but id love them to come and watch me make a sunday lunch :rotfl:

oh the other thing i meant to say was i have refused to have the camera into my stomach time and time again!! i just cant face the thought of it :o il keep taking the omeprazole and lanzoprazole [they keep swapping these 2!!]

im sure i was going to reply to something else but i think iv written my fair share there before everyone collapses from boredom ;)

iv managed to do the ironing today as well as prepare dinner so i think iv turned my brain into complete much now

  • Careful, gentle hugs to all who need them today.
My shopping is staying in the bags on the kitchen floor to be used at will as I really don't fancy spending time in front of the fridge bent over. The rest of the flat looks literally like a bomb has hit it even though I spent a couple of hours doing housework yesterday. Everything is so slow when you're achey!
Had some time pressure put on me to do something today and I find I don't deal with it at all well now, even though in my professional life, it didn't bother me at all.
anyone else find that they can't cope with more than a couple of things at a time without getting anxious?
p.s. my spelling and grammar isn't bad, it's just my fingers get rebellious and ignore instructions!
I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to break :D

I second the shopping staying on the floor... although I'm lucky if it makes it in from the car, or the living room, never mind into the fridge!
My house is a disaster too but I have so few visitors these days I'm almost past caring!
I'm exactly the same with any kind of time pressure. It's horrid. It gets me to the point of tears when I have somethingthat needs doing within specific timeframes - esp forms and beaurocratic nonsense. I got REALLY freaked out about the first medical exam I had for the DWP and getting in the benefits forms.
I'm also with you on the rebellious fingers - I swear my fingers have dyslexia! My mouth too - it comes out with the COMPLETELY wrong words really randomly! I make a joke of it all the time, but it is really annoying...
