  • LT, no-ones brain works well when there's a lack of sleep.

    Yes I know that.

But the brain 'fog' of certain illnesses, such as Fibro, is much much more than just being tired.

Ok...I know what you mean....when you are in pain and when you are tired, your brain does feel heavy/achey.

Anyone in good and bad health can get that heavy, brain ache feeling though.

Fibro fog and other 'fogs' due to certain medical conditions are entirely different. It is there when you are refreshed, tired, in pain, in relief...anytime.

Fibro fog isnt connected to just being tired and for anyone who has experienced proper 'fog' knows what I mean. If you say its down to being tired, then its not real fog. Obviously tiredness would make it worse though.

I would be interested to know from others here what they think about that.

well i cant say about it being much much more than tiredness with fms as i have never been told that, but i have been told its a vicious circle because of the tiredness and pain and i know it is for me. The more pain i have the less i sleep and the more tired i am, so the brain fog is worse and also when iv have over done things i find its very bad.

bz as you havent been in i hope you are resting and feeling better xxx

  • I dont understand how you need to be told what your symptoms are or will be.

Fibro fog is something completely different from just being tired or being in pain as it is an existing symptom in its own right.

If you dont know what it entails then I can only guess that you have 'normal' brain tiredness.

i never said i needed to be told what my symptoms are or will be! when i spoke to the consultant about the problems i was having when i got the dx [which was many years ago] he said at the time the confusion i complained about was due to the tiredness and pain. you obviously know better then me  i just dont understand why you feel the need to argue about this?? we just use this thread to share things and chat generally. :(

i hope everyone gets a restful night , i think i will get an early night tonight x

Sorry...I didnt mean to upset you. I asked why you needed to be told because that is what you wrote. You said "I have never been told that"....so I was wondering, if you experience Fibro Fog...why would you need to be told about it...you would KNOW about it first hand?

I didnt say I knew better than you....Im just trying to get an angle on the whole thing.

What makes you think Im arguing about it? I was asking a question, thats all.

I thought The Arms was for chatting....sorry about that.
I was under the impression this thread was for Fibro discussion.

  • UPS Drivers are normally balding, beer-gutted slightly sweaty men. But the man who appeard on my doorstep this morning was an Adonis. The picture of sartorial elegence with muscular legs protruding from surf shorts and a wonderful antipodean accent.

Unfortunately he got me out of bed after 6 hours of sleep and I threw on my dressing gown. You know, the old fave with the egg spilt down the front?
He averted his eyes and I shut the door feeling very old and ugly.
