Hope you don't mind me butting in as you all seem such friends but could you recommend anything that would help my mum who is 76 and has fm? She finds it very depressing and painful and seeing your thread made me wonder if in your experience you had some tips for my poor mum .Thanks very much for taking the time to read and answer .

Hi sukysue - I was dx with Fibro nearly 13 years ago, I got a lot of help from

http://www.ukfibromyalgia.com/, they can put you in touch with a local support group and will send out info packs. I have tried most of the pain meds the drs give out for Fibro and at the moment Im on Tramadol, Pregabalin and Amitriptyline which takes the edge of the pain but nothing seems to work really well. I have weekly Hydrotherapy sessions which keep me mobile and I use a tens machine, electric heat pad and Tiger balm. The Capsicum cream is I think available on prescription a friend let me try some and it didnt do much for me, thats the trouble with Fibro what works for one person doesnt help the next and we all have different symptoms. You just have to keep trying different things until you find something that works for you.
I hope you Mum finds something that helps her soon.

    Hi folks

Just wanted to let you know I haven't died.

Just not been posting much. The Black Dog has been shaking me like a rag toy, and buried me with it's manky old bones at the bottom of the garden, and I didn't want to drag you all down with me.

Very much so... Especially tall, slender women with dark curly hair and a sweet sense of humour - and she fits all of those criteria!

    Hi all,

Thanks first to Suep for pointing me in the direction of the knitting thread - girl you don't know what you've done :D:D:eek:. From there I found a great site http://www.ravelry.com/ and it is wonderful - so I just wondered if any of the knitters on here are members? If you are, then you may or may not know that a group has been formed on Ravelry for MSE'ers. There's only about twenty odd members at present but it's nice to see people you know. Some of the patterns are to die for - for instance there's some remarkable hats - so I spent yesterday looking through the pages and salivating over what to knit next.:D

I warn you now though - it is addictive!

Good job you've not met me then! ;) :rotfl:
(What? I'm tall compared to most of you lot! :shhh:)

I'm in bed. Hiding. From the cold, the snow, the packing, the wedding planning, the MIL2B... take your pick really!

I'm with you on the Demons thing Trialia (besides the awful name too, lol). Haven't got into BG, but it doesn't help that everytime me and OH went to his best friend's he had it on (in an ignorant way) but halfway through series etc, so I had NO idea what was going on - and therefore quickly lost interest.

We might've had this convo already, but how old are you (if you don't mind me asking!)?

At least Mary McDonnell is older than most of us oldies on here :D. I remember her best as the president's wife in 'Independence Day'.

Shhh, lol, I want her to guess when she sees Mary as Roslin how old she is. ;) Nobody ever gets it right first time without looking her up! :P
