s/e - Im so pleased for you, it must be such a relief to finally have that decision, what a good start to the year :D

Unity - I hope your ok after your fall and not got too many bruises. If you do this regularly could you ave something on the floor next to your side of the bed to break your fall a bit, like a spare duvet or pillows ? Then again you might trip up on them on your way to the loo in the night so you'd have to be careful.

BZ - Good luck with the house hunting, I hope you find something soon.

I had a bit of a disaster this morning, I was going out to the car to visit my Mum and carrying her veg steamer she'd lent us on Xmas day as I couldnt fit all the veg in mine. As I walked towards the back gate the lid slipped off and smashed on the ground which is paved, scattering tiny pieces of glass all over the place:eek: I had to clean it up thoroughly as I was worried our dog would cut her paws, it took ages to get it all up. It's the most exercise I've had in weeks and soon warmed me up lol.
    Hope your all keeping warm

hello all :) its so freezing cold here my fingers are white even with the heating on full so i wont be typing for long [and even though dh has pointed out the cost of our heating just over xmas im not panicking  .... just yet anyway]

bz i have my fingers and toes firmly crossed for you with the house :D

unity i really hope you are ok after your fall, both my dh and ds1 sleepwalk and it can be amusing at times but also worrying when we have windows and the patio doors open in summer.

s/e what great news, you must feel such a weight has been lifted.
Even though i get the mobility component they will never give me even the lower care one as i manage to look after my children  never mind it takes all afternoon to prepare their tea lol

sue what bad luck :( whenever i break something in the kitchen its the animals i worry about more than the kids [ and believe me im always managing to drop things]

Auntie Axe i hope you managed to salvage your cottage pie before you described the way it looked i was thinking pasta sounded rather nice on top of the mince :rotfl:

sharon ratatouille crumble does NOT sound good :rotfl:

hello to everyone else, my fingers are totally white now so time to tuck them in a pocket again with gloves on ;)

Hi all, I'm late on again today. Been having a totally carp day, what with four rof tiles eeding to be replaced (and the attendant stress of having a workman here while I'm in on my own), an ongoing argument with Royal Mail about delivering post to the correct place (we're getting other peoples' but not our own) and now my printer has turned up its toes, right in the middle of an important task.

Oh well, it can only get better...... surely?

S/e great news about your DLA claim - one less thing to worry about.

Unity welcome to the Base Over Apex club.

Suep Bummer! Mr LW did something similar a few years back, scared the life out of me.

CwtA and Sharon I was just wondering if you could perhaps come up with an "alternative" cook book between you??:D

  • Thanks folks for your good wishes. Now that the adrenalin has worn off, I'm feeling distinctly tired. No point going to bed now, esle I'll be up in the wee small hours again, but I do hope I sleep well tonight. In fact, I might just treat myself to an extra ami this evening to help me along. (Sshhh - I haven't actually discussed this with my GP, but I only do it occasionally.)

I may not be around much for the rest of the afternoon/evening, as I'm finding sitting up and typing a bit much right now.

But, if CwtA and Sharon want to try out their concoctions on me, I'm quite happy to be a guinea pig - anything beats having to do my own cooking.

I was diagnosed 2 years ago with fibromyalgia but have had the symptons for 18years (Since i was sixteen). I havent got a problem with my thyroid however ive got Crohns instead and know have had a colectomy and an ileostomy (a bag). I also suffer a lot with depression and see a neuropsychologist. I dont get DLA, i tried to claim but was unsucessful. I just get short term incapacity benefit. My problem is that i dont see myself as being ill even when i was on 50 tablets a day, i still felt the same. I had the op and i didnt think of myself as having a major op. It like i blank it out. I just wish i could blank the pain out. Some days its hard to even move the tops of my fingers and most days i would love to stay in bed, but because of the kids i cant and dont. They are 12,5,and 3 and need me. The oldest and the youngest have aspergers with the youngest one being nearly mute. But I know being like this is not good for me because im emotional all the time (including now).

I used to work, i worked in a solicitors as a assistant legal cashier, however i started some new medication and it threw my system into meltdown and they decided i either had to work full time (couldnt even manage the part time hours) or they would get rid of me. So they did, all legally thou.

So my way of coping is I just carry on

Now this a real heroine! God bless you.
  • thats great news s/e about the dla.

bz good luck with the decisions re houses.

apparently some places got cold weather payments today, check bank accounts if you might be entitled. (guess it hasnt been cold enough here).

Hi all, hope you are well!

My wife suffers from Fibromyalgia and all the horrid side-effects that come with it. We've recently put in a claim for DLA for her but were unsure if it would be successful as we (nor any of our firends or family) had ever heard of the illness before. It's reassuring that it is rather well known and that there's at least one forum of support available to her :)
