G'day all. Not much been happening on here today, I trust it's cos you're busy rather than feeling lousy...
I've overdone it (of course ) today. Only got to sleep late (about 5.30-6am ish, but more out of choice I spose) so woke up late (about 3.30pm). Spent the afternoon/early evening [strike]pilfering[/strike] acquiring boxes and bubble wrap from Asda's produce section and packing up some of my household [strike]junk[/strike] belongings in preparation for the house move. Not found a house yet, and some of the pressure has been eased as the landlords informed me yesterday that there is less of a rush as their [strike]dastardly[/strike] plans have been scuppered (somehow) so the lease will be renewed on a monthly basis. I'm hoping I won't need to do this, but it gives us a bit more breathing space to find "the" house, rather than just one that'll "do". I'm just packing up books and cds etc and the spare room and bedding to begin with... see what I can weed out, regift, sell and/or charityify while I'm at it.(psst :shhh: if any of you know a someone who wants Animal Crossing for the DS nearly new, let me know)
Went round Ikea in the late evening (I'm lucky enough to have one locally) to have a look at wardrobes etc with hubby2b. I was trying to work out how many "doors-worth" of wardrobe we'd need...and after picturing the amount of clothes I have, added to the clothes he has, I came to a rather terrifying conclusion! Methinks I will need a drastic sort out! Try and throw stuff out (I'm really bad at this with clothes, cos I always end up telling myself that it'd be handy to keep for when I'm painting or gardening or something equally unlikely ) and sort the rest into summer and winter collections perhaps?Half the problem is the sizes, I had loads of really nice clothes last year (or now perhaps the year before?:o) but with all this inactivity and poor eating and the bloating and effects of the Amy-on-a-trampoline
I seem to be a bit yoyo-y on the old clothes size front. I'm hoping I'll be able to drop about 1 1/2st by the wedding
but for now perhaps I should segregate my aspirational-hope to fit in again clothes from the ones I actually wear and keep them in an old case or something in the meantime..?
By the way... what was everyone's best/most useful present? I got some gloves from MIL2B which are fingerless (only a designated thumb bit) and a bit like leg warmers...but for your wrists! Which I think are ACE! I've barely had them off my hands/wrists, inside or out, and are better than the tubagrips I usually use for the tendonitis/carpul tunnel pains - especially as they're not itchy after a while like the tubagrips are. Thought someone else on here might like them? Apparently they're from Wilkos/Wilkinsons and they do them in white and black (I'm gonna go back for a black pair for when my white ones are in the wash).
I also got, from my very thoughtful 10yr old nephew, a pair of hand warmers. They're little round gel bags that you put in your microwave and then put in your pockets (say) with your hands to warm them up/keep them warmThey were only 79p from B&M Bargains (I think, from memory - the packaging inside had the sticker thing on it still, bless).
Well, I think I've made up for being so quiet lately...so I'll leave you all to it. If I'm a bit quiet for a bit it's cos I'm trying to be good and pack up the house... If we're good and manage that and don't spend too much on the move/wardrobe/essentials then we're allowing ourselves a Wii for the new house!
:shhh:

morning all
pcl that sounds fabulous, cant imagine what the cold felt like though after starting off on the plane in summer clothes lol
bz, take it easy for a week or so, iv found iv had headaches by the end of each day as we seem to have fitted much more into the days. Even if its just playing board games with the kids [they seem to have a renewed interest in these  ] iv had the burning all over tiredness each day.
Thats great you have more time to find the perfect marital home
my best present was my new laptopbut from my dad and stepmum i got lovely pj's and really soft knee length bed socks and iv sat around in those quite a lot
i cleared all the xmas decs yesterday as id had enough of looking at themand also i wanted the house cleaned before starting back to work on monday
it looks so empty now but better. DH went mad at me as he had said he would do it all today but when things are staring at me and whispering move me :rotfl: ..... i intended just taking the cards down but 3 hours later, everything was in the loft!!
has anyone made new years resolutions?? mine is to just not fret about having everything done all the time, as long as the kids are clean and fed and so are all the animals, the house is reasonably clean and tidy, s*d the rest :T and i will be doing some competitions everyday as i looked at the things people have won in the comps threadsi started yesterday and got my first win on the bigsnap search :j

Raeh, you certainly don't bore us to tears at all. I love reading long catch up posts from regulars. Lucky you getting a new laptop! You must have been a very good girl last year.
Hope you're getting over your cold BZ. The mittens sound fab. Did you know you can get ones which heat themselves too? Dad got himself some for arthritic hands. Dunno where the battery goes though
Best pressie I got was a mug from ex-sil that holds a litre. It's a standing joke in the family that I don't use mugs for tea, I use vases. She was all apologetic as it was only from a pound shop, but it was just such a perfect gift for me that I was thrilled.
Worst pressie was a jigsaw of optical illusions - 164 pieces. Coz that's gonna happen
Have planned in lots of trips this year but spacing them out. Have decided to go to London in Feb to see the Rothko exhibition. Can stay with Sis and also see 1st ex-OH's family. March is Northern Lights, then back to Sis in May for her 50th (snigger) birthday party.
It all takes its toll on me, but I am so aware how my mobility has gone down in the las 18 months or so, I want to cram in travelling whilst I still can.
Hope you're all warm and as well as can be.

ooh the mittens which heat themselves sound fab
my hands are always cold, especially when using the laptop!
i was very lucky dh bought me the laptop as my other one had broken on the hinges and we had said we werent buying presents  but he said its my social time using it and he didnt want me to be without one bless him.
your mug sounds great, someone at work has a huge onei wouldnt care how cheap a present was as long as it was chosen for ME. my usual presents this year from mil were a baking tray and a pack of tea towels
both picked up whilst she was shopping in sainsburys  i just would have liked her to have chosen something specially for me??
you have loads of things to look forward to CwtAid like to fit some decent trips in this year with the kids, ds2 studied rothko last year in art [never did things like that when i was in primary school lol] i hope you enjoy all the planned trips
right back to the competitions :rotfl:2009-£7500 2010 £10800 2011 £2000

Thanks Raeh and Cwta
Raeh, the laptop was an ace idea by your OHLucky you! I know what you mean about presents bought just for you. The gloves were probably only a quid or two but they were bought with thought (provided by OH whilst shopping with MIL2B
) and that makes all the difference. My ex's bday was yesterday and I dropped into the shop he works at with his pressie. We bought him 10,000 BC on DVD and at first his friend thought it was a copy or bought in Woolworth's closing down sale, but Ex said he wasn't bothered cos it's what he really wanted (and had forgotten about wanting, but I hadn't cos he'd shown me so many trailers for it in excitement!) and it's the thought that counts. He was really made up so I was really happy too
.
The bed socks sound cool too. I bought myself some legwarmers from Pound World (or whatever it's called!) a few weeks ago. Do the job of keeping my ankles warmer when I manage to actually prise the warm toasty Ugg-type boots of my feetI think you might be right baout fitting too much in the days, but I ended up in bed for 2 months over summer (2007) with the pain from sinusitis so I don't think it's unrelated that I have this cold. I think the fact that my glasses don't sit properly (since rolling over them and kinking them irreparably:rolleyes:) so the centre of the glass isn't where my pupils line up anymore helps either *sigh*
No new years resolutions from me... I think I've enough on with the planning of ...well you know what by nowMY WEDDING!!! WOOOOOO!!!
Jamla I know what you mean about the decs! That's why I didn't bother putting any up...well not at my house at least... Goodness knows when the ones at MIL2B's will come down...*sigh*
Cwta Are you going to the Northern Lights as in Aurora Borealis? If so I am SOOOOO jealous!!!
Not sure about self heating gloves...could have a search..?
I found one of those awful jigsaw presents while packing up my books yesterday LOL. Who thinks these are a good idea really?? I was looking for Christmas decs at OH's a few weeks ago and found a cupboard full of jigsaws...I presume they are undone as MIL2B is 3/4 blind! The charity shops are chocka with them too, as I noticed when perusing for OH's pressies:rotfl:
There's *nothing* on tele tonight...perhaps it's hinting at me that I should really go do some packing/house organising...?"I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0 -
Cwta: I said I'd search...and well, I'd say I'm as good as my word, but really what I mean is...I'm putting the scary packing off!;)
Mens' size 9 for £14.99
Is it me or are these batteries huge for a glove?
Raeh: these look ace for you if you're saying you suffer cold hands while on the laptop! USB powered warming gloves!!"I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0 -
cwta Northern light's ?? Holiday ? ah wow , always wanted to see that !! tell me more, tell me more .......the truth is out there ... on these pages !!0

It is the Aurora Borealis BZ. Unfortunately, it's not a holiday, a 5 hour flight round to Norway from Exeter and to wherever they predict they will be at the time.
It's something I was going to do as a holiday with my 2nd ex-DH, before we split up. I'm pleased I'll get the chance to go as it's something on my things to do before I die list.
There's no guarantee that you will see them though. I will be bleedin p'd off if I don't!
Also decided am going to go to the States sometime this year to visit cousin and aunt.
I'm not entirely sure where the money is coming from for all this yet! But I'll move heaven and earth to do these.
I have decided firmly that this year I will take part in life as much as I am able rather than let it pass me by.I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0
