  • Thanks folks for asking after me. Sorry, didn't mean to worry you, but I've been doing this thing they call Christmas (after a fashion), and when I haven't been cooking or recovering from cooking I've been concentrating very hard on my new cardigan. It's a booger and if I don't watch what I'm doing I spend ages taking row after row back to try to get back to the correct number of stitches (it's not one of those patterns that you can hide the mistooks).

I did spend a bit of time today trying to shift a bit of clutter for the cleaner tomorrow - it only took me 'til around 4.00 pm before I realised she wouldn't be coming. [Hey, that's good - there have been times when it's got to an hour beyond the time she's due before I've remembered she's not coming for some reason.]

I hope you all enjoy seeing the new year in, in a way that suits you and that anyone who wants to go to bed at their usual time isn't woken by the artillery fire at midnight. ;) [Yes, all right, she's talking about herself. No chance of that round here then.]

    Happy New Year, Katie.

Yes, I suffer from swollen feet and knees - these days I don't even have to spend a lot of time on my feet for it to happen (and I can feel it happening, which isn't pleasant). Oh, and my hands swell up too - I've not been able to wear my ring for over a year now. Even if I can get it on, I get no warning before my knuckles swell and it's a nightmare getting it off again, so I don't risk it.

  • Happy New Year all! Let's hope it's as pain free as it can be.
I, too, have the swelling problem with my feet, ankles, hands and wrists. The only thing I've found that really helps with lower extremities is whenever I sit down, my feet are always up on a stool. Helps enormously.

I hope you're prepared for a long wait. It's 4-ply and it takes forever to make noticeable progress with it.

I hope you evening goes well.

  • Thanks Raeh and s/e.
I'm good, if still very tired from walking about 2 inches off my legs whilst I was away. It's a good tired though.
One special thing I saw whilst I was away was a couple of whales feeding. Pilot of boat thought they were Minki Whales as they are the ones that are the most common although they do get killer whales on odd occasions due to the high seal population and the cold water of the atlantic.
It was a truly magical moment and something I never expected to see in my life.
    Ain't nature wonderful!
There was a Twitcher on a couple of the boat trips who made me snigger in a very un-ladylike fashion. Everything was covered in a sort of camoflague (even his socks and camera case) I hadn't seen before which had white on it. I can only assume that this was meant to emulate bird poo!
Hope you had a peaceful Xmas s/e?
