  • There was a young girl called Big Zippy
Who said 'Gawd this weather is nippy'
    But with winter drawers on
    She strides out, with aplomb
Not caring the streets are so slippy.

    Ohhh, that's bad!

  • Oh, that was good CwtA. That's another thing I'm no good at - can't make up rhymes to save my life.

And I only threaten people with me walking stick if they threaten to smack me first. ;)

Same here, s/e. Life's too short for knitting tension squares.:p

I agree with you both - I don't usually do a tension square (although after a few rows of knitting I check the tension just to be sure) but this particular pattern called for the two pocket linings to be knitted first - so I was able to check the tension without any problem ;). I can't imagine how they got it so wrong  - but I'm on to re-doing the back and then the collar, then I should know if I need anymore wool.

Must get on - if I want it finished before the festivities.

You could always go out and hug a hoodie to cheer yourself up?:p
Hug a hoody..?? Am I missing something? Is this a SW cultural thing?

I think my low mood is cos I couldn't find my 10mg Ami tabs last night (supposed to take 2) so I had to take a 25mg that I had still in my stocks(!). I think even that subtle increase has overdone it and kept me sleepy and sedated and low all day. Make sense? I'm not even sure anymore! :o

Tension squares, frogging, wonderweb and Fair-isle patterns...? Have you all gone fabric craft crazy?

I'm with Cwta - you're leaving me behind. I can do cross stitch - but got confused by a french knot and took it (piteously) to my SIL (the queen of all things knit and sew-like)- I can only just about knit (but hate casting on, or off, whichever one it is!) but it's a line/scarf type thing - only one type of knit or stitch or whatever it is!

Anyways, I'm also like Cwta in that I'm absolutely pooped. I stayed in bed this morning while OH went off to attempt tackling his finances, then he came back for me and I took him to work. I'm in a lousy mood though and I'm really not too sure why. :(

    How's everyone else today?

    Hi BZ,

You can paint, draw and make jewellery etc., so you're still creative :T and thus deserving of no sympathy - so there :p. I do wish I could draw - I used to be good at school at the age of about 14 and did an 'O' level in Art - but it's either use it or lose it and I haven't used it :o.

You must have picked up my bad mood from yesterday . I was in a right one by tea-time and I don't know why either. I did too much, so that's probably a clue:D.

Actually it's something I have noticed before - when I get over-tired I'm like a toddler with the 'Terrible Twos' tantrums. Often I can keep it together on the outside, but inside I will be sobbing like a kid - but not actually able to sleep.

It doesn't help living with two blokes . I should qualify that straight away by saying DH and DS of course :rotfl:. They both accuse me of wanting things done yesterday . Trouble is they forget that I will have already asked them yesterday and the day before that - probably:rolleyes:. Selective deafness is an inherent problem with the male of the species though - I've found :D.

I guess it is something to do with always pushing myself hard - maybe I push them too hard too.

I am nicely calm now though - so I hope these feelings also head your way ;).

  • Went to see my regular Dr last night and told her how I was treated by the locum.
    She looked quite shocked.
Anyhow, the outcome being she is now refering me to various 'specialists' starting in the new year, so maybe I can get to the bottom of it all at last.
I did ask about a 'General Physican' (as someone had kindly mentioned), but she said they no longer have them in the NHS, only specialists in their own fields.
I told her I am soo fed up of having to be at the Dr's almost weekly and being fobbed off as a nutter.
I wouldn't be putting myself through the hard work of making appointment (blinking receptionists) getting there, then being treated like an idiot, if I was feeling well.
    Somethings not right, but what?
    Lets hope time will tell??
    Thanks for support and advice

  • Hoping you get some answers Lilac and, more importantly, some relief. She's taking you seriously anyway.

Hope everyone is OK-ish today. Have woken up with a very sore back. It seems everytime I sleep too long on my left side, my back goes out the day after. It must be me as it's a newish matress. Time for the heat seeking pads, me thinks.

I fished out one of these pads with the clean washing from the machine the other day and my weird mind mused for a nano second whether it had helped to heat the water up and saved a bit of lecky :o If there's a tangent, my mind will go after it like a dog after a rabbit

raeh, I hope you're feeling better. We haven't forgotten you.

Had a nasty shock yesterday. Mum left me some money and I invested the majority it to provide me with some additional income. I got the half-yearly statement in the post yesterday and with the stock market losses, it's lost a third of its capital value.
My knee jerk reaction was to cash it all in and keep it under the bed, but if I leave it in there, at least I have some chance of it recovering some value.

Will have to do some serious belt tightening as I opted to have reduced income if the capital lost value, rather than chipping away at the capital to maintain the income.
Even at it's height, it only pays me the equivalent of 1.5 months rent a quarter. Still, better than a poke in the eye with that end of the stick.

Sorry if tmi, I just need to spill to non-judgemental people as family will blame me for poor choices

Feel free - these are terrible times:eek:. As far as your family goes - I'm sure you'll remember to tell them that everything looks better with the benefit of hindsight ;). It's not a case of poor choices at all - we have no further to look than the government and the banks to see that even the so called 'experts' can get it totally wrong!

I hope you can still stretch to a bar of chocolate as it's definitely the time for some comfort.

    Love,

  • I took advice from many FAs before investing so I know it's not poor choice, but family will assume it is. Great when someone has belief in you, eh?

I'll swap the choccy for a nice slice of cheese as I'm more partial to that.
Went out to get bread and a paper and supermarket was heaving. People seem to still be spending and I fear many pigeons will come home to roost in January.
