  • I used to enjoy cross stitch, but I struggle to see even with my glasses on and find I always get neck ache as well as hands hurting.

I have thought about rag rugs, but someone told me you have to sit at a table to keep the canvas straight and I don't have a table. I'll have to look up latch-hooking and maybe have a go.

I would sell my soul (if the Devil didn't already have first dibs) to sleep through the night. I'm waking up an average of 10 times a night; sometimes only half an hour after the last time I woke up.

I got all fed up, bored and teasy last night and took myself off to bed at just before 10pm which is mega-early for me. I may resort to some amy tonight in the hope of a better rest or I'll need help carrying the bags under my eyes. Managed to forget to take my IBS tabs last night, so am running to the loo every 5 mins too.

Picking up borrowed suitcase today which should be incentive to clear the bedroom a bit so I can reach some clothes to put in it.

Am sure I'll be in a better mood soon :o

I used to do latch hook work, but haven't done any for years cos it was getting too tough on the old paws. Does anyone have a technique to make it easier? I'd love to do some again but don't want to break my fingers.

I hope everyone's reasonably OK today, BTW.

  • Ello. Where is everyone?!
I was hoping Unity might have posted results of MRI.
I have a splitter of a headache today, but know it's a result of tiredness. Early night for me again, I think.

I'm still around, CwtA, at least on and off during the day. I'm just keeping fingers crossed for Unity til we hear something.

  • Sorry LW, I wasn't ignoring you!
I suppose it's quieter due to the time of year and people generally having a life off-line. At least I hope that's the reason and not that they're all off somewhere having funny turns.

  • I/ve been off today with a Fibro flare.
Got massive knots in my legs. Anyone got any remedies for this?
    They are rock hard.
    Many thanks
  • Only thing I can think of is apply heat and gentle massage, Elmo.

  • My husband suffers with fm, hes takes amitriptlyene 50mg 3 times a day along with tramadol (morphine based) 2 3xsa day. sometimes the pain is that bad he has to sleep it off till he can cope, he also has a throid problem underactive and his meds keep going up with each blood test. There not working, hes also border line diabetic. he makes himself cope on most days and tries to get on with life. He also has a fused lower spine which causes nerve problems with his legs so maybe the fm doesnt help with that. he only gets lower care dla and has done for 6 years. He got that before begin diagnosed with fm. were in a constant battle with the dla to up his benifit. were in an appels process where there currently looking at either upping it or taking it away totaly. He cant walk harldy without an aid he can barely breath and were now told he may need a respirator. Im so worried that we may lose our battle with the dla and loose the benifit. Im going back to work next year after having 2 children, so he'll need help or the extra to help him get out and about. Im not looking to get a car i just want justice for him.

I never used a table to do mine...? I just fold the canvas/backing grid over around the bit I'm doing so it can sit on my knee.

I had a thought - well a few times in the last week or so - but it's about smoking vs IBS. Now I always found that smoking helped my IBS, but my sister found that hers was much worse while smoking. I know that you may not want to give up the little pleasures in life, but perhaps it would help a very inconvenient and embarrassing symptom..?

I've been out with OH going round the estate agents looking for a suitable house. Funny how I went in asking for a house that was preferably a bungalow and came out with an appointment to view a 3 story town house isn't it? :o I blame OH. No, really, I do. We went to have a look at it from the outside after leaving said letting agents and I (gently, of course ;)) pointed out the folly of his ways :D The "alloted space" was all the way round the back of the property, *behind* the "back garden" (which was more like 5ft x 8ft with the titchiest shared fences), and there were steps even to the front door. *sigh* Ah well, the search continues. :o

That, mixed in with more pressie pickups and helping out a friend and sorting out MIL2B's finances and OH going to IFA today, that's where I've been. Missed me? :D

I don't think I'm the best person to help you with the DLA claim, although it sounds to me like he's/you've got more than enough grounds for at least higher than the lowest DLA plus the mobility element. They can't possibly justify taking away the benefit altogether, so please don't worry about that too much.

As for the meds it doesn't sound like they're working too well..? As we've discussed on this forum before, there was a medical conference recently (my GP went to one in York and rhuemy type things and they discussed fibro) and apparently the best recognised treatment for fibro at the moment is a combination of Amitriptyline with pregabalin (aka Lyrica) with/without Tramadol. I'm currently on Ami and pregabalin and have found it MUCH better than on Amitriptyline alone. Because I'm on them both the doseage of Ami came down, so there's less undesirable side-effects from that (phewf!). I really hope that you/he finds something that works, cos it's a nightmare trying to get meds right, and I really can't imagine being on 50mg x3 a day!! Once a day was bad enough!!
