I also have fibromyalgia. i have been doing pilates for 6 years and it has been great for reducing the stiffness and improving my stamina and fatique.
I have also been to the pain clinic and that is good they review your mediation and give you some simple excercises to carry out and it does help.
I have had to give up my full-time job 7 years ago as i had my son Jamie who is now 6 as it was too much just having a child. Let alone try and carry on doing both. The pain i manage with Melexicam and amatripyline for the nerves ystem with out these I could not walk and i also have Hypermobility as well and with this comes irratable bowel. I also have found cooking my own food has been a must not only finacially but health wise i feel so much better in my self.0 -

Hello Zabrocki and welcome
Have a wonderful, wonderful hols pcl. Any room for a little one (hurumph) in your suitcase. I promise I won't be any trouble?!
I've had two early nights on the trot here and actually feel a bit better for it. But am stressing our over havng two builders plus plumber in the flat today. I'm quite territorial and can't relax if builders etc are here.
I know and thrust the main one doing the flooring for me, so I'll wait until the Plumber is gone and then take myself off out into town for a couple of hours to get out of the way.
That way they can play with the dust bunnies under the sofa on their own.
I wonder if stress causes flare ups? Just musing; not thinking I'm heading for one.
Overdoing things certainly does - BZ?!!!!!
Am going to phone cleaner again today as she hasn't returned my call.
Hope everyone is OK today.I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -
Hello people!
Having a decent pain day today. A couple of days ago my pain was at 7/8 out of 10- now I am only at 4/5. Had 2 early nights in a row.
All Cmas shopping is done except for the food. My parents are coming from America to stay with us for 2 weeks. They arrive in 1 week's time. It will be great, but interesting. I feel a little sorry for my dad and my hubby, since my mom & I have both been having bad fibro flares. So... I hope they don't have to run after us too much.
My mom had a great idea. There is a beauty spa which is a 2 minute walk from our house. They are running a special for a 1 hour aromatherapy massage, plus a 20-minute facial massage for £40. My budget doesn't allow for such luxuries, but mom told me to make the appts and she would pay! She has done this for me in the past; I think it is heaven. So that will be a really lovely, much appreciated experience.
At the moment, I must plan the Christmas food. We can't afford to go out to eat, and I seem like the only person in the family with the skills to get a decent meal on the table. The only trouble is- dinner seems like a big job. So does making the list. So does doing the shop. I think I may send hubby off to Aldi tomorrow to stock up on staples. Then maybe after mom & dad arrive we'll pick up some ready-made goodies.
I don't want gravy granules and Paxo, but I'm not capable right now of doing the whole shebang up to my specs. We have M&S, Sainsburys, Tesco, Morrisons or Asda... any recommendations? Which would be most likely to have very good prepared food at reasonable prices? We'll probably go for quality over price though, as long as it isn't exorbitant.
So is everyone else looking forward to the festivities? It sure is a lot to keep up with.
Careful- stress absolutely causes flare-ups. I think that the big flare I had last week was due to a 4-week build-up of stress that I had been carrying around in my body. (Redundancies at hubby's job- he made the cut though!) Once we found out he made it through- my body went berserk. You'd think I'd just relax and it would be fine, but it's like all the tension I was saving up manifested at once. I am sure it's in medical literature somewhere, but I am certain that stress causes flares.
I am a little funny about having tradesmen in the house as well. I always stress about whether or how often to offer tea- since we don't offer tea where I'm from! Also, I am cautious about having burly men I don't know in the house.
Hope everyone has a good day.0 -
Stress most certainly does cause flare-ups, Axe. I can tell you from personal experience!
I'm having a fairly lazy day today, tried to help my husband put the Yule decs up last night and I seem to have pulled my back.
I ought to get on with icing the flippin' cake, but 1) I can't be @rsed, and 2) I don't know what design to put on it.
I can't stand having workmen in the house either. I try and make sure they come when my husband is on early shift, as he works from home those days.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

You're not on your own about the tea - except I don't stress about it, I just don't generally offer it! I don't drink tea or coffee so it doesn't enter my head! I also don't have milk (because of the IBS) so I don't have it in when they're there. I do explain that they can have it black, or with soya milk, if they wanna make it themselves though.Funnily enough they turn their nose up at the soya milk 9 times out of 10
LW I hope you recover soon!pamaris wrote:I don't want gravy granules and Paxo, but I'm not capable right now of doing the whole shebang up to my specs. So is everyone else looking forward to the festivities? It sure is a lot to keep up with.OH's orphaned friend often comes to his for Christmas, which is fine, but he LOVES brussel sprouts and I hate them, so unless there's a special brussel sprouts microwaveable pack (which there is in Asda, luckily for him!) then he ain't havin em!
I don't make stuffing, cos I don't like it and therefore I have no interest in learningand gravy is 9 times out of 10 out of a Bisto tub, Although, pamaris, have you tried oxo or similar? or is that as bad as granules? Some stock with some marmite and some onions and mushrooms simmering away?
Most places have pigs in blankets, turkey crowns covered in whatever you like (I don't know how many you've got coming), ready done roasties (which I don't like, I'd much prefer to do my own)...other than that what else do you need predone? Or am I being naive here?
I've got all my family's presents, but friends are a different matter. Stupid thing is, if we were talking enough then I would've already suggested that neither of us buy anything cos we're way too skint...but then doesn't that denote that we're not talking enough to buy presents in the first place?I'm not bothering at all with xmas decs this year - it's just another waste of time when I'm already trying to pack up the house for the imminent move.

the hard part is done, ive managed to get to my sisters in one piece. now she can jolly well be in charge of everything until i have to go home again.
i dont think i could even squeeze a finger into my suitcase, but i do know its not too heavy for once. unless my scales are wrong.
m&s stuff tends to be more expensive but better quality imo. i used to make stuffing from breadcrumbs and herbs, was always wonderfully crunchy but i cant remember how i did it now.
hope the builders clean up after themselves careful, did you get hold of the cleaner?0
