Yes they are separate - so you get a payment for care and one for mobility, but do get help with the forms from either Welfare Rights or the CAB as they can be a bit of a minefield. I was advised to write everything down no matter how small, be as detailed as possible. Even things like the problems experienced getting tablets out of blister packs or child-proof bottles. Some people hear voices, some see invisible people. Others have no imagination whatsoever

Even thought you were optimistic, the sure knowledge takes away that little voice of doubt that surfaces in the early mornings when you're awake.
I think we are all seriously made up for you. We all have enough to deal with anyway that the thought of sommat else, spesh something that needed potentially drastic action, is just too much. Thanks Unity - that would mean quite a boost in income if I qualify. I would be able to buy in the help of a cleaner without worry re the cost.I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0

The rates for care and mobility are on 2 or 3 scales - I get HRM and (at the moment) LRC - this means I get a payment each month that is the combined total of those rates. I can't remember what the rates are paid at, off the top of my head, but if you were awarded HRM and HRC you'd get close on £300 a month. Although you'll only get 1 £10 bonus come Christmas time, no matter how many qualifying benefits you receive. (Funny how they never manage to muck that one up, isn't it?)s/e0

Good Morning all,
Its not often I get to say that!
Well it has taken me ages to read through the thread to catch up!
Unity.Excellent news about your test results.x
Thanks for all the info on Motability cars.
Having a car would radically change my life, have to look in to it.
As far as getting info about disability or benefits of any kind I found that nobody 'in authority' tells you anything!!
A couple of months ago I had to have a check up concerning my breast cancer, the doctor told me to ask the breast nurse about something. Breast nurse, what's that I thought. I had never heard of this and the doctor was surprised that I didn't have one. I still haven't!!:smileyheaMagenta0 -

The forms are 34 pages long, if like me you have wrist splints, it takes a couple of months to fill them in doing a couple of lines per session!!:smileyheaMagenta0 -

I had to giggle this morning as I woke up and found a puddle of wee on the bathroom floor. I can't even blame the cat - it was me!
The loo seat is loose, in fact you go for a little ride everytime you sit down (it's the little things that give me pleasure) and it must have slipped so it was hanging over the front of the loo basin when I got up to pee in the night and I've peed through the gap onto the floor.
i have managed to do that a few times, without the excuse of a loose loo seat, or even it being in the middle of the night. have never worked out how it is possible to miss when the seat stays dry and i am firmly sat down!
care is a scale of 3, low, medium and high rate, mobility is low or high only. they are two separate things, you can qualify for one or both, but are paid as one lump sum each month.
ill go hunt on benefits and work and see if i can find the rates.
and getting dla entitles you to other things such as disability allowance on income support/incapacity.0 -

even without wrist problems its takes a couple of months to fill them in, its so depressing and hard to do that more than a couple of boxes at a time is enough.
unity hang onto that cloud as long as possible, you deserve it.0 -

I think the reason I can't believe it is because my luck doesn't normally turn out to be of the good variety where medical matters are concerned . After the car wouldn't start I was convinced we were in for "one of those days", so it was wonderful to be surprised instead of shocked for a change.

And you know they say you can't hear the tone or see the expression in an e-mail :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:. I defy anyone to say they can't hear your tone in that last sentence! But ain't it the truth?
I too was singled out by the BNIP some years back - even though I had only been awarded my DLA less than a year previously. However the woman who visited me noted down the situation with my sleep disorder and told me that I qualified for care during the night - in her words "You could injure yourself, whilst trying to move about in these dreams". She said that it was normally part of the criteria for care awarded to those who were mentally ill, but I qualified. I don't know if she meant I qualified as being mentally ill or not though? And I mean no disrespect to anyone who has mental problems - it's at least one in three these days so if it isn't S/E or CWTT - it must bluddy well be me:eek:.Some people hear voices, some see invisible people. Unity, I have long believed that I have a sign on my head that is only visible to others that says !!!! here. If something can happen to someone, it usually happens to me. Someone I once worked with dsaid that if they wrote my life as a soap opera, it would be criticised as being unbelievable and unrealistic!
I can prove this by the fact that I have just found out that, somehow, my credit card has been compromised and fraudulent activity started on it. Luckily, I keep a close eye on these things and have noticed the transations pending online. Cue second new card in 6 months and a dispute form to reverse the transactions - apparently, resolution can take up to 6 weeks! You would think they would be more switched onto fraud than this.
*sigh*
I've downloaded form for DLA and have motivation in place to ensure I go through with it this time. think I know the secret to filling in the answers - assume the person reading it is a moronic imbecile!
Later peeps.
