Cook? Cook whats that? I have a completely rubbish diet of sandwiches, and have had for couple of years. I found that by the time I had cooked something I was too tired to eat it or had a few bites and felt sick.

Now that we have at least one car between us we can send the mobility car back, as arranged, on Tuesday and not pay further monthly payments to keep it!"
Bigzippy
Sorry, I don't want to be nosy but how actually do you obtain a mobility car?
Thanks.:smileyheaMagenta0 -
Morning Magneta could you not sleep like me or are you a natural early bird?

mmorning everyone
soups, i actually make tomato soup in my slow cooker, minimum of effort and its yummy. started off following a recipe then move don to just bunging stuff in, and puree it all before eating with my stick doofer. find im much more likely to feel like eating what i cooked if its been cooking away on its own all day.
well done on the car bz, good news all round for your oh then. hope the kids are well behaved for you.
magenta, i know someone else will knwo better and can explain motability but in the meantime, i believe if you get high rate mobility dla you can arrange to have that part paid to a dealer going towards a car. after that i get very vague on what happens.
i managed to stay in bed for a whopping 6 hours last night, with only 2 or 3 disturbances but at least i managed to go back to bed after a while each time.0 -
Just popped in very quickly I'm afraid
, with an update on the appointments that have kept me away from here. I know I am flouting BZ's rule by not living my life through the forum
, but needs must;).
DS saw the neuro who thinks he has common migraine. She reckons this is a bit of a misnomer since it isn't all that common - it just means migraine without the special effects - but she's sending him for a scan just to be sure.
I got a cancellation through for the pain clinic yesterday and now have to have an MRI before they will consider the facet joint injections and another transforminal epidural. This is due to the lack of sensation down my right side. They stuck me with so many pins I felt like a Voodoo doll and didn't dare risk a cuppa in case I resembled a garden sprinkler :rotfl:. I've been worrying for a while about the long term effects of using the morphine patches as of course there's no research into long term use since they were originally designed for those with terminal pain. The PC doc is now writing to my GP to see about getting me off them with Methodone. He asked if they were doing any good - but of course I couldn't really say as I've been on them for some years now and since they are not something you can stop using - like some oral meds I couldn't really say. At least I know my GP is the type who will allow me to go back to using them if we find that they were the only thing keeping me mobile.
If anyone remembers at around 12.30 today, could you send some positive vibes in this direction - towards the North East. I get the final answer from the genetics people today and one expects it will do no good to ask the audience, go 50/50 or even phone a friend.
I shall be back later to play catch-up with all the posts - daunting as it is with you gabby lot!
Nah, seriously - It's meant a lot finding the friendship and support on here so thanks to everyone :T.

good morning everyone
bz glad you got the car sortedi really should think about an automatic next time and then im sure od be able to drive further [the joys of sitting in slow moving traffic with your foot on the clutch!! every rd in sheffield is like that] and well done to your oh for getting the job, good luck to him which ever way he decides to go with it all. im not sure about the pregabalin as i have only been on it a week as well? sorry hopegfully someone else will know?
unity i will make sure i send positive vibes your way, il just have to make sure im facing the right way as my sense of direction is terrible :rotfl:
purplecatlover i have never thought of doing tomato soup in the slow cooker, i will be trying that this week as ds1 loves home made tom soup with peppers ini made a lovely sweet potato and butternut squash soup at the weekend and that would have been easier in the slow cooker - i like to make soup as it takes some effort but then theres a big pot there for me to eat for a few days with no effort required! and well done for the 6 hours in bed
that sounds like heaven
sharon59 i hope your headache doesnt last too longi often get headaches from not drinking, i just forget to sometimes?
magenta im often that way, by the time iv cooked for hubby and the kids imjust too tired to eat more than a few mouthfulls and then i end up picking at junk lateriv found if i nibble at it whilst cooking then i eat more lol
the motability car - i have a motability car and you can claim it when you receive the HR mobility? im not sure if you can have one on lower rates? anyway the amount they pay you each month basically goes to pay for the car. There are many people that have said they think its a waste of money and that its better to use the money to pay for your own car but i like the fact that its a brand new car any problems it goes straight back and they repair no cost and like last week when i had the crash they deal with everything immediately for youyou can go to any main dealer and there will be a motabilty specialist for you to talk to, you choose your car and sign the papers and thats it
im on my 3rd one now, we had a merc and then a renault and now i can drive [i couldnt originally so hubby drove it] i have a golf
somebody_else and CwtA i hope you both had a good nights sleep

id forgotten that about the roads in sheffield, all the hills too made it so much worse. i seem to have lost my clutch control on hills skills somewhat since moving, i keep having to either brake or use the handbrake these days. ive also lost the ability to park in tight spaces without to much trouble, not sure how much that is to do with current car not having power steering though.
i never quite got round to making any other soups in the sc, kept meaning too but it was easier to stick with what i knew. deff takes less effort that way than on the hob having to remember to stir it and various things.
oh it was heaven, hopefully i can repeat it tonight.
the motability is deff high rate mobility only, when my car was stolen my mum suggested that as a way for me to get a new one but low rate wasnt sufficient (i would have felt guilty anyway since i dont need adaptions so would have been taking advantage).0 -
Fiddle f@rt! had posted this long eloquent post and lost the damned thing! I even yelled "Noooooooo!" as I saw it happening before my eyes!
BZ - contact your own GP to see if they can get authority to a local gp or pharmacy to dispense some pills to get you through? I've done this before so it is possible.
Great news about both the car and Your OH having a choice now. Good luck with whatever he decides. Sure the car doesn't just have to have a bog boot for your stash of drugs?!
Magenta - nice to see you back.
Unity - have set alarm to send some good vibes and thoughts your way. Reassuring news about your DS.
Sharon - Have you looked into rehydration salts to get a quick fix? I try to always carry a bottle of water with me to stave off dehydration headaches.
s/e - I was actually sitting here last night thinking I had achieved zero yesterday and you reminded me I had cooked. Thank you - I'll take any affirmation I can!
purplecatlover - good idea about the soup. I looking into the energy usage of a slow cooker and it is about equivalent to a light bulb, so very MSE!
It was so quiet here last afternoon/evening, I was a) worried that you were all laid up poorly somewhere and, more importantly b) that the thread was dying out!
I almost went into mourning *grin*.
Apparently there was recently a meeting in USA on Fibro for the USA association of Rheumys. If anyone is interested, I'll see if I can get any info other than the brief link I was sent.
It's interesting to me even though my prob is different. I'll come back later and post how mine differ.
Lots of humorous posts here today - what a nice thing to get up to!

purplecatlover why would it be taking advantage having a motabilty car if you dont need adaptations?? i dont need any but my car is my lifeline for getting out of the house and to anywhere as i wouldnt manage to walk that far and even if i could id be exhausted when i got there? and having a brand new car means i know its reliable and easy to drive? i pay for it with the dla so i dont feel im taking advantage of anyone2009-£7500 2010 £10800 2011 £2000

Raeh - hope you are feeling less sore and battered.
I think the Mobility car scheme is brilliant. BTW, do you get the tax disc paid for?
I must admit I bought an ex-mobility car the one before this (full service history etc) and it did smell of wee! *grin*.I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0
