purplecatlover why would it be taking advantage having a motabilty car if you dont need adaptations??
I currently use most of my mobility component to make the payments on a loan taken out to buy the car - if the DLA stops, although it would be tight, I would still own a car and would be able to (just about) continue to make the re-payments.
Sorry, gone on a bit there.s/e0 -
I've got an appointment in half an hour so I need to get my butt in gear, so I'll come back to this later, but did want to say that I'll have my fingers (metaphorically) crossed and be sending positive vibes to Unity for her appointment at 12.30.
Catch you later folks.s/e0 -
p.s. BZ, if you have legal cover on your insurance they can sort out all the stuff of fighting your corner to get your excess back at no extra cost. I've been in a position to use this once to reclam excess and out of pocket costs when car was written off by a van. I wouldn't mind, but I was stationary at the time!
Thought I had found a lovely shrug for you for the wedding, but just checked website to send you the link and it's sold out.I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -

Re legal cover - this is a sore point. I suspect that when I was pressuring them to get the price of my premiums down they neglected to point out that legal cover was being knocked off and gauranteed hire car was being knocked off. Somewhat frustrating and dad sounded like he wanted to disown me when I said no legal cover!
I've been asleep pretty much since I dropped the kids off so not letting the lack of pregabalin worry me too much. I'll just take tonights as normal and hope that I remember to take it every morning (it's the only one I take in the morn so forget all about it...as I knew I would!).
Best go as all the non-walking parents will have taken up MY room on MY road so I won't be able to park near the school "I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0 -
Part of my Lupus is Mixed Connective Tissue Disorder. My immune system has decided I am an alien and is attacking the collagen that holds together all muscles. he effect is similar to arthritis except in all muscles. They are all inflamed to the point of exhaustion, thinking I have run a marathon, so any additional movement sends the over the edge. I find hot baths really soothing even though I experience the same probs you do in getting in and out. For me, the gain outweighs the pain.
The major annoyance about it is that muslces can spontaneously strain. That's why I wear splints as I can sprain my wrist picking up an eggshell!
The steroids combined with painkillers make life easier and it's a bit of a see-saw, the more steroids I use the less painkillers I need. But steroids come with their own problems, particularly if used long-term, so I manage on a miniscule 5mg a day and take supplemental Vit D and Alendronic Acid to protect my bones from osteoporosis.
If I have a flare up, I take up to 30mg a day, but end up swelling up like a balloon which is not a good look!
The reason I wasn't suprised there was evidence I had had a heart attack is that, after all, the heart is just another muscle.
I am not looking for "poor you's" as I don't do victim, and I am not at all saying I am better or worse than those with Fibro, I just find it interesting that the fatigue and muscle pains I get, with a different cause, are so similar at times.
Hope various appointments people had went well and Unity, I did remember you at 12.30!
And, look, if you don't all start posting and give me something to read, I shall be forced to clean the kitchen up and I really don't want to do that!

Hello all.
I'm too late getting online for Unity's appointment, but I hope all went well.
CwtA are you feeling a bit better today? I agree it's disheartening just cooking for one.
Supermarket visit wasn't too bad yesterday - not very busy, and got everything on the list for less money than I'd anticipated.:p I'm limited to going when Mr LW is around to come with me, otherwise I'd do the shopping at 2 am or thereabouts.
However.... I do seem to have picked up a cold while I was there. Totally free of charge, too! :eek:If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Ive just been trying to catch up with the posts again, Ive had to give in and spend yesterday and today in bed, I dont know whats going on but I think the change in meds and tramadol might have started this off, then I got a bug and now the fibros kicked off big time, I feel really rough and have been just sleeping and reading.
For some weird reason I cant get onto the previous page, think its 58 all the others are ok, so Ive issed out on some of whats been happening.
I just wanted you to know I havn't abandoned you though, I will have to be ok by tomorrow as Ive got my 18 month old gd round for the afternoon and I have trouble keeping up with her at the best of times lol.
hope everyones ok

Thank you one and all for your good vibes, I am still in shock - but good shock IYKWIM?
We went to set off this morning and couldn't believe that for the first time in 10 years our car let us down:eek:. For some obscure reason the battery was flat and that takes a lot of doing since it is diesel and therefore a heavy duty battery. Luckily our neighbour was in so was able to jump start it. I must admit to thinking that someone "up there" didn't want me to go to the hospital .
Anyway, we got to the hospital and DH dropped me off at the door whilst he found somewhere to park. I didn't have to wait long at all - and the consultant told me that she had some good news. The blood test I had taken last month did NOT confirm the research lab's findings :dance::dance::dance::dance::dance: so I don't have the recessive gene at BRCA 1 or 2 :T.
I must admit to being totally gobsmacked - as when I was seen last month I was told that the research lab had discovered something amiss and I went home to think about what steps to take. The option I had decided on was a double mastectomy since although I'd be elgible for more regular screening, I would really only have been waiting for 'when' something developed rather than 'if'. Statistically speaking - because of my family history I now have a 30% chance of developing breast cancer - but of course that means I have a 70% chance of not developing it.
I seems because the trials I took part in were conducted by a reasearch lab, the DNA samples may have degraded, or become contaminated - which is why the NHS always carries out their own tests to double check.
Anyway I am really shattered now, I guess it is relief after so much stress, so like the dormous in Alice in Wonderland - I'm going to crawl into my teapot for a snooze.
Thanks to everyone once again for thinking of me:A - I am sure it helped and group hugs all round :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:.
