HI.
I have already written about this account and how I hated every step. They claim every little helps as they try and take over the world. All we wanted was a little help from them. I am still fizzing with how an online account which is meant to be used on line takes a lifetime to open.
I like many others have tried to log in, with the screen, ' we have not received your verification that you want to register for online banking...........................................................
OF COURSE I WANT TO REGISTER FOR ONLINE BANKING, ITS A FRICKN ONLINE BANKING ACCOUNT YOU MORONS!!! HOW ELSE CAN I RUN AN ONLINE BANKING ACCOUNT.......
I agree with many others, it is not worth the hassle of the club card points at all. I am just thankful that i only sent a £1 to open it, and that was 7 week ago.
Think tesco should stick to supermarkets and leave the banking to...................... well to people who know what they are doing...... ummmmmm.
Tesco - Stick your account in the bin. I am sure things like this dont help the banking crisis.
Sorry for my rant!!!!!:rotfl:0 -
This is the worse opening of an account, EVER! But it is now open and I received my card reader yesterday. This card reader was not easy to set up as they said it was and I had to ring them, AGAIN!
I done a test transfer back to my bank account, and boy was it fast, got there the same day.0 -

I have tried phoning and there is an automated message saying they are busy because of the unexpected demand but I can't get through to speek to anyone. Is anyone else having the same problem?
Are they likely to extend the date because they have been unable to coupe with the demand?
I spoke to someone there yesterday and they told me because of the delays they have caused they would be "making allowances" on the closing date for receipt of money to get the points. I'll believe that when I see it, as everything else has taken an age. I sincerely wonder whether it's a safe bet to put any more money in there, having been burned on Icesave!
This "online" banking system with so much paper involved is pretty much the same concept as our new "wireless" generation with so much spaghetti around in order to achieve it! :rotfl:Sheryl
An Icesaver no more :T0 -
I'm in a similar situation to everyone else, it's quite frustrating!
I applied for my account on the 8th of November, a couple of days later I got a letter with a few forms to sign, which I duly filled in and attached a cheque for £10, sending this in the post on the 15th November.
Haven't heard anything since! I've been checking my current account on a daily basis to see if the money had been removed, but Tesco haven't took anything and they haven't even set up a standing order on my account.
I'm really annoyed by this as on the same day I applied for an ISA with HSBC and a credit card with Egg and had both accounts open within 1 week! Can I afford to buy? Mortgage Affordability Calculator

I've just realised that the 30th is a Sunday, and my linked account (the one I sent the cheque from to open the account) doesn't do faster payments. Oops.
I've had a look at the terms and conditions, and they don't say that deposits must be from the linked account. Ditto the answer to the "How do I pay money into my internet saver account?" question on the help section of their website.
So can I send the money from another account - one that does do faster payments - to get the clubcard points? Has anyone tried it before I go ahead and throw money into the ether?0 -

Before they received my signature verification letter, I still transferred the money. Once they did receive it, I logged on and the money was happily showing there.
Also, transfers from my HSBC current account took less than a minute. So even though it was a hassle to set up, I'm glad I did. You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0 -
I opened an account with them earlier in the year in order to get the promotion - we were promised clubcard points in our august statement - I got an UNDATED letter (very professional not) telling me due to a tech issue the points would be in november's statement.
The points didn't get awarded. I phoned them 2 weeks ago and couldn't get through via the automated system - IT ALWAYS CUTS YOU OFF WHEN YOU ENTER YOUR CUSTOMER NUMBER!!!! so you have to mess around navigating and eventually speak to someone.
I eventually asked to complain - and was promised my points would be on the clubcard within 2 weeks.
Guess what - no points.
I think Martin should not be giving Tesco any plugs for their savings accounts and promotions as they're a bunch of cowboys.
so even if you get your account open - this is just the beginning!!!0 -
Did fast transfers from HSBC too - went in immediately. A&L have a limit 'in the low hundreds' at the moment apparently, so I moved cash about to avoid losing several day's interest (which would have cancelled out about £10 of the bonus points). Of the 2 accounts we opened, I could only see one online at the time, and the payment was there in seconds, so I did risk the other account 'blind' - it was in fact processed straightaway.
One account had the signature verification delay, so despite getting the registration code you could only sign in and then get the error message. Was told on the phone yesterday that letters from that day (posted 17/11) were being processed yesterday afternoon, and later online access magically worked at last. So then the account reader could be ordered in 'account admin' (groan).
I've used 0141 308 8028 to phone 3 or 4 times, and luckily got through to somebody helpful every time - it's the useless system that is the real problem I think. The call centre people couldn't see the account balance before the signature verification had been finished apparently!!!
The whole process has been laughable, but I've known what to expect from the helpful posts here and so kept my sense of humour - thanks people! It remains to be seen whether the clubcard points ever arrive of course... but then the interest rate is pretty good anyway, as long as there isn't another cut.0 -
I gather from talking to them that they're currently about a week behind in just dealing with cheques and applications received. That's on top of any further delay in actually getting the accounts up and running.
Call this a bank? Some publicity for them, please, Martin, just to teach them that lousy customer service = lousy publicity.0
