More problems here. Sent two largeish cheques for two accounts (wife and me) a week ago and they still haven't been debited to my account. TPF claim not to be able to track individual applications and don't seem to give a damn. Certainly doesn't stack up with this, from the website. This money's coming out just as soon as I can get it out - whenever that's going to be. Probably also a complaint to the Banking Ombudsman if there's much more of a delay.

    Question:

Once I've submitted my application does it take long to open my account?

    Answer:
Upon completion of the online application process, your documents will be sent to you to sign along with the Savings Terns & Conditions. We will process your account as soon as we receive your signed application form. Once your account has been opened, you will receive a welcome pack. This contains information on how to use your account and helpline numbers if you need to contact us.
  • Similar story here - they've cashed my £1 cheque, given me an account number (and sort code incidently), I've set up Internet banking and have a customer number and password/security number but when I log on they claim they haven't received my signature verification letter. I've now sent the letter twice and still no joy. As the 30th is looming and I don't fancy doing a large transfer "blind" (especially to this shower) I think I'll call it a day, close the account and get my quid back. 1,500 Clubcard points isn't worth this much hassle to me. Truly appalling service.

Have to say if I was so close I'd deposit late, then make an official complaint citing their inadequacies (which have been well documented on here). After all, this is a £60 offer (with quadrupled points)...not simply a £15 offer. Each to their own though!
  • I registered for the Tesco account and got an acknowledgement letter on the 23rd October but I still can't access the account so I won't have the desired amount active in the account by the 30th November to get my clubcard points. I have tried phoning and there is an automated message saying they are busy because of the unexpected demand but I can't get through to speek to anyone. Is anyone else having the same problem?
Are they likely to extend the date because they have been unable to coupe with the demand?

Did the letter you received have the account number and sort code for Tesco?, I am sure my first letter did. Then use these details to transfer money in now.

As long as you have a cleared balance matching one of the clubcard levels on 30/11/08 you'll be fine.

I think they've been overwhelmed since this went in the email. I made an application the day before it went out, the cheque was cashed in a week and all was smooth, yet my sister's deposit cheque (sent a few days after the email) took about two weeks to debit and she still doesn't have online access (signature not processed).

Being able to log in to the Tesco Personal Finance site doesn't affect the bonus clubcard points as those only depend on how much cash is in there on Sun 30th November. Provided you use the account number and sort code they've sent you, there shouldn't be any probs as it's fully automated, unlike the application/verification process which it seems is the cause of the delays.

The real problem for me is not being able to access the money effectively tied up in the account. It's now in limbo between the account it came from and the new Tesco account. And the Tesco/RBS people I speak to clearly couldn't give a toss. What a shambles.
  • rang tescos finance customer service again, to try and resolve logging on problems and loss of signature verification letter.

basically the response i got was pathetic and unhelpfull to put in mildly.

so have posted off letter today listing my grievences and asking for them to close my a/c and return my £10 deposit monies!

at the end of the day, i have no faith or confidence in tescos internet banking.

i wonder how many others are rapidly coming to the same conclusion?
