I've had a lot of problems with my local PO too...
when I started I had a lot of parcels and staff at the till were very rude, because of the time it took.

then I moved over to Smartstamps (I'd rather paid £5.99 a month than go through the stress). Staff were all smiling at me and really pleased they did not have to process each parcel.

Then I moved to PPI and the (new) manager had a go at me because I was stealing their commission, and was giving me dirty looks every day. Now things have improved. They are right that they should get something for business mail, but it's hardly my fault if that's how RM have decided to do things.

Obviously my local PO is not at risk of closing, or they would have been nicer.
  • Smartstamps are not good for me. The only reason I'm using PayPal postage is because it's FAST. The details of recipient are already filled in I just need to choose service (Recorded, Special, etc.) enter weight and press 'Print'.

If I were to use Smartstamps it would take me whole day to prepare 10-15 parcels.

So does anyone else use PayPal postage? If yes, what happens when you take your parcels to your PO?

    Thanks

I use paypal postage for my airmail items but that's all. I use mainly 2nd class on my UK postage and can't print those via paypal, which is a shame. However I do stamp all my UK parcels.

I had a few issues with my small local PO who had some strange ideas about large letter/packet and would always want me to uprgade to packet and that was costing me a fortune. My local crown office rarely have queues less than 30-40 minutes so I can't take my stuff in there.

I now just take all my stuff in a sack to the local mail centre and they take th esack and stamp my COP for me. They are always pleased to see me, I cna park outside and I'mrarely more than a few minutes, so it suits me.

If you use recorded and special. They still need to be stickered and given a tracking number at the PO so you cant just drop those ones off. I only rarely use paypal mail (as they dont do 2nd class) I was told by our PO that they have to now weigh all parcels including pre paid ones. They also weigh prepaid returns from online retailers. Also regarding fast drops I don't believe you can get proof of posting this way.

Personally if I was you I would be writing to the management complaining. Getiing in writing the procedure the counter staff should follow with paypal mail. Also do you have another PO nearby you could use? I would look into that as well.

That's exactly what I do too. In and out in two minutes. In the past I have had abuse from little old ladies who think I should post my things "somewhere else".

In the past few years, I have had four local post offices close, so am really struggling to find one where I can park, so my local sorting office is ideal. Mind you, last time I was in there one guy shouted his mate and asked "do we have to take all this carp"

I use Paypal Postage where possible. Because its handy and partly because I like to argue with the cantankerous old cow that works behind the counter at my local PO.

I usually leave the one item that needs going Special Delivery til last...

So please explain some one. Am I being bullied? Or is it really impossible to scan them quickly without entering in their systems?

    Thank you!

It's not impossible if they've done it before - twice - and there has been no comeback.

I would get his name and report him to head office telling them everything you've said above. It can't be good for them holding everyone up and causing a queue when they can do it in a few moments and let someone else use the till.

I wasn't criticising you for using PP, or suggesting you use Smartstamps, it's not very good value for money, although it has good functionalities (import addresses from ebay for example), I used it because it was compatible with my thermal printer, and I don't trust sending parcels out with inkjet labels (not water-resistant).

They don't need to be stickered as I've already sticked required label (Recorded, Special or International) which contains a barcode...

With fast drop they e-mail you (and the buyer if you wish) with a proof of posting which you can print in the event of a claim
