I am really sorry. It is horrible to lose a family pet, they really are part of the family.

Thanks Wendz, in situations like this it feels like all you can really do is think that they won't be in pain anymore. I know it's the best thing to do for him but it feels horrible now.

Thanks everyone. Oddly enough I have some semi good news about Oscar. After us all spending the evening in tears when he woke up he was like a different dog. Unlike last night when his legs wouldn't even support him he was trying to go for a walk when my dad took our other dog. He still wasn't 100% normal because he hasn't eaten for two weeks but he was so much better than last night.

Me and my sister had major reservations about putting him down with the way he was this morning, when we took him to the vet even he said that now you wouldn't know how ill he was to look at him, so we pushed to have more tests done.

We knew he had high calcium in his blood and that his kidneys are failing, but he still seems to be weeing a lot which the vet says is a good sign because they must at least be doing something. We didn't believe he had cancer because he didn't have raised white blood cells, so we asked to have his chest x-rayed this morning as apparently that's the first place cancer usually shows up. That came back as clear so at 3 today they did some investigative surgery on him and found that two of four glands either side of his wind pipe were enlarged. It was one of the things they mentioned earlier, apparently they produce a hormone which would have something to do with the increased calcium in his blood.

The long and short of it is that if his kidneys are able to sustain him he *might*be able to make it through this. I think the glands were probably why he wasn't eating too because I assume it must have been painful, so we're all really keeping our fingers crossed for him now.

I also got another £20 from selling a necklace yesterday, though obviously that wasn't very importantat the time.

Thanks, we're all really hoping for him. If he doesn't get worse he should be home on Monday.

I've just found out that my dad needs to give my mum £21k within a week to keep the house. He has about £8k in his ISA so it looks like I'm going to have to give my dad all of my money and pray for a miracle. My dad is going to try and get me put on the mortgage joint with him to get the extra money, but if he can't it looks like I'm being thrown out of my house. I'm so sick of crap always happening to me, I shouldn't be having to bail my parents out at my age.
