I have had e-mail from Ing on 15 10 08 saying that my money is safe. I had a Kaupthing Edge £34,900 1 year bond. I am unable to sign onto the Kaupthing Edge site, even though Ing says that I should be able to. I am concerned that our UK gov guarentee no longer applies to money in ING. They seem to have handed over my money to what may prove an unreliable Dutch Bank. I feel let down by our government. What do you all think? Is there any possibility if the web site ever comes on line again it would be possible/advisable to try and transfer the money back to my account?

Why not? I logged in an hour ago, it was working then.

For the larger banks the receiving process is completely automated....

I was told by a personal banker at Barclays who is telephoning me daily, that any CHAPS payment has to be manually matched to our accounts when they arrive at the receiving bank. They are manually matched, name, account number etc.

Thanks, know i understand - so should be in tomorrow. I can live with that, will sleep better tonight and hopefully sound tomorrow. Thanks again for all the support from those on this forum
  • Thanks mate, please believe me, that want be happening again!

    Worst 2 weeks ever!

Bloody hell, it must have been.. I know how I felt as the good ship Kaupthing went under and I realised I had £35k in there. Even knowing £50k was covered was still a worry..........

Still waiting on BACS payment into A&L withdrawn on 3rd Oct

    :(

Markooooooo. What time on the 3rd did you make the request? Did it show as leaving your account on 3rd or 6th? Was there anything unusual about the withdrawal? I would have expected you to have received it by now given the experience of others on here. Sorry if this sounds gloomy but I thought that most BACS payments had come through by now.
    BACS requested 8/10/08, received 17/10/08
  • In a word. NO. HM treasury and the FSCS have PAID ING to take these deposits on. I got my money today so I'm lucky. Te rest will come I'm sure and ING are NOT in any more trouble than RBS, Llloyds etc.

not in any more trouble than RBS, Lloyds etc no, but they're not a UK bank IF it all goes wrong, that's my point. Also I'm not sure if some people realise the implications of that.

Are any other ‘successful transfer’ posters checking their accounts to make sure the money’s still there, or is it only me that’s completely barking?

That's a rarity - a puffin that barks! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Bigg....you are not alone on the checking front!
So upset for those who haven't yet got their money (not as upset as them I guess), but I remember how bad I felt on Friday. Really, this has been/still is a nightmarish experience.
