In case you missed it, here’s a link to yesterday’s Icelandic Bank article on BBC’s Working Lunch (22 Oct 08):

(For best results, click ‘Watch in high quality')

    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=8bkjBkgx4MY

    Luke is mentioned.

The dreaded 95% figure was mentioned but they said that 100% of savers should receive their money by Friday. It’s the first time we’ve heard that.

Icesave customers are to receive 100% of their savings. Brilliant news. No deadline was mentioned, hopefully sooner rather than later.

The UK government are in talks to lend the Iceland government the money to ensure all British savers have their savings returned, including institutions. I hope it all works out.

So, it’s good news all round, fellow PUFFINS.

I don't believe it! After telling ING EXACTLY what my situation is, ie CLOSURE, not withdrawal, I've just phoned KE and have been told that NONE of the closures are going to be processed until all of the withdrawals have been finalised. So this Thursday, Friday deadline is yet another unattainable dead line for those of us who have requested closures, not withdrawals. Of course, there was no knowledge of when the closures will be looked at, blaming the bl**dy administrators!

By "closure", do you mean closing Fixed Rate account so that you can then initiate a withdrawal from variable rate account? If so, then I too have been waiting since 8/10 for this. Do we know how many others are in this position?
  • Just for all us worriers out there - nothing this morning for me yet
    CHAPS out on the 8th

Surely it can't be long now!
None for me also, am really hoping everyone gets their money by Friday.

Hopefully, don't think I can handle another Friday let alone a weekend.

Congrats, was that this morning? Which bank if you don't mind me asking?

  • I transferred £47000 out by CHAPS on Mon 20th Oct 10:00am and i have not recieved the money in my linked account! why have they not stopped customers making CHAPS payments? or at least posted on their website that there is still a delay with CHAPS even now. They still charge you £20. So my guess is they still have problems. They should advised customers that even now CHAPS transfers will not arrive in linked accounts as they promise.

Have now recieved all of my money, the kaupthing CHAPS System seems to be getting back to normal, although they should not be charging £20 for CHAPS payments that they know will not arrive on the same day to linked accounts!
    Regards
