Got my money transferred to my linked account 10 days after transfer initiated. :T

Has anyone approached Kaupthing/ING about compensation? My linked account went overdrawn when the transfer failed to take place withing 3 working days. This transfer was not a panic measure and attempt to draw out all funds, but was just a normal transaction to cover money set aside to pay bills. Trouble is with it being delayed, it caused the linked account to become overdrawn. I feel it only right that compensation is paid for the account going overdrawn. I telephoned and spoke to a Kaupthingedge/ING rep and was told no decision had been made on compensation (yet).

Have you been charged any unauthorised overdraft fees due to this? If not, then I can't see how you can possibly have a claim for compensation

And in any case, even if you have been charged then surely the first thing you should do is call your bank and ask that they refund the fees under the circumstances. I'm sure they're fully aware of the current delays in payments reaching accounts.

I agree with biminibob. Those who want to can start a new thread "Kaupthing Edge Interest and Chaps Fee Refund" or similar. Posts about these subjects not only water down the message of this important thread, they also hurt the feelings of those still waiting for their savings to reappear.[/quote]

Seems like a good idea, New Thread - "KE CHAPS and interest refunds"

Have to agree with that .. but more so all the chummy no information posts that add pages to the thread and increase screening time for those still waiting for real information.
STILL WAITING for refund of 1x £20 fee plus missing interest on our 2 accounts.

    Morning.
I got up all positive today, thinking when I bumped my computer into action - it would present me with a "You've Got Money" - alas no.
Same old story - account reading zilch!

Just to clarify - I requested a chaps on 7th, shown on KE account as 8th, did not receive the "5% email" or had a "courtesy phone call to advise me that I am one of those 5-10% people that didn't get paid last Friday. Incidentally, I didn't request a closure either.

Well, everyone around me are now say that the stress has got to me and have taken pity and they are taking me out for lunch today, hopefully I will have an appetite for eating something. ING/KE you should go into the slimming business if all else fails - I have lost over 9lb since all this started.

So bye for now, hope to log back on late afternoon to see some more success stories and a big "YOU'VE GOT MONEY" from my bank account.
  • dumharwood - your name is on list of those awaiting transfers but I can't find this name or anything similar on the members' list. If you think this is you, please post or PM me with the correct name.
    Thanks
KE veteran - life seemed so much simpler then!

What do the people who are 'still waiting for real information' think?

I am now very sure that the savings of all those still waiting will reappear. And I am also more than ever sure that the slowness of the whole operation is down to the adminstrators of KE, Ernst & Young (with liberal dashes of dilatoriness from the UK Treasury and FSCS thrown in). ING too must share the blame for this all too human disaster. A lot of the stress we are and have been under is entirely due to the lack of openness about what was happening behind the scenes (and we still don't know much). We were treated like children from the outset, we were expected to keep quiet and TRUST THEM that all would be well. The UK Treasury, FSCS, FSA, Ernst & Young treated us all as Victorian parents would. We have been left to our own devices, to conjecture in the dark and fear bred fear.

BACS 13th Oct to HSBC - now received.

I'm obviously greatly relieved but my thoughts are very much with those still waiting. I sincerely hope it all gets sorted out today or Friday for them. I do honestly think that there is a good chance. I know only too well how awful they feel especially if the money is actually needed for urgent bills, as was the case with me.

Regards the above post, I couldn't agree more. I'm pretty sure that a significant problem at the practical level has been Ernst & Young, Administrators. But they're all to blame. I found the FSA to be completely useless. The Treasury, in allowing ING to take all these accounts without ensuring adequate mechanisms for prompt payments, are guilty as hell. ING's helpline staff no doubt did the best they could but it was no way anywhere nearly good enough. The K-E helpline staff, however, I found pretty good and I'd like to thank them because I could see that the situation was beyond their control. While I don't doubt that K-E helpline staff did their best, at least for me, I'm nevertheless sure it made absolutely no difference to the actual timetable for repayments.

There are people here talking about reinvesting in ING. I'm not going anywhere near the damned place ever again. I think their administration is a thorough disgrace. I was already a customer of ING but I'm getting out. I still intend to pursue my formal complaint against them for incompetence, and I will do my best to notify as many people as I can of their failures over this matter.
  • I'm obviously having a senior moment - just checked KE and my CHAPS was initiated on the 7th Oct (not 8th) for £20k. Doesn't alter the fact I am still "without". I'm really touched by the solidarity on this site. Thanks.
    CHAPS 7/10 £20K landed in Barclays 7/11:j
  • Good luck everyone left for today, if not, end stop is tomorrow.
  • Hi all

This is my first post to the forum although I have been following it for the last two weeks now and it has been a great help. I requested £30k by CHAPS on 8th October after 5pm - disappeared from my account on morning of 9th October and eventually appeared in HSBC account on Monday this week.

The person I emailed most at ING was Alastair Hemmings - their Customer Relations Manager - and a did get at least one response although it looked like a standard one - so don't know whether this helped or not.

Anyhow - really hope the rest of you get your money today and thanks for all the support! :T
  • Just for all us worriers out there - nothing this morning for me yet
    CHAPS out on the 8th

Surely it can't be long now!
