Still no sign of anything come through for me today, perhaps a day to day poll could be set up so that at least we know how many are TRICKLING through?0

We are in the process of emigrating to Australia and have been monitoring the exchange rate for the AUD/GB closely as we need to move large sums to Australia. We arranged online withdrawal on Friday, 10th Oct and the sums were shown as transferred on Mon 13th Oct but have never arrived. Because ING now have our money somewhere I was unable to purchase the Dollars when the rate was best; over $2.60 to the pound on Thursday 16th. The rate has been falling ever since and it's inevitable that when and if I get my money in my linked account, the rate obtainable will be much less thus causing me to lose the opportunity to have bought dollars when I intended. I estimate at current exchange rates this has lost me about $20,000.00 AUD.
ING do not even seem interested in our loss or even where our money is!
No assurance can be given when we will see it. We are in the magic 5% it seems. I think this must be the biggest 5% in the world.

Can you claim for financial detriment? I really doubt it but I would guess your only route would be via the goodwill of ING if you could prove to them that you had made these losses and they were prepared to listen. You never know.
I have been on the board from the early part of this fiasco and I understand how frustrating it is even though I have now got my money. I hope you get yours soon.0 -
Maybe we would already have our xfers of 9 Oct if they had been BACS rather than CHAPS? who knows... maybe one of the chaps could enlighten us.
My wife and I are still waiting for the large(ish) CHAPS withdrawal made on 8th, but the two smaller BACS withdrawals requested on 9th were both in our accounts on 17th. I suspect it depends on the amounts as well as the mechanism.0 -
Yes it may well get you more annoyed at them. However this is the correct procedure for complaining. You can also complain to KE (as I am also doing) but as KE is owned by ING the FSA has informaed me that you must pursue through ING in the first instance.
It may annoy you but you may be able to annoy ING in the long run for this farce. I say make your voice heard and do it loud!!!!
That number again is 0800 376 6400.
I fully agree with you that the right thing to do is to complain formally and get it logged on their system. However don't be too optimistic that it will produce any instant rectification.0 -

If you have lost $20,000AUD on an exchange movement of around $0.13 AUD in the last week, then it seems like you had over GBP150,000 in KE between you. Since the government showed some goodwill and waived the GBP50k per person limit, you were arguably GBP50k up from the get-go. I think you would have tough time in proving that kind of loss out of all this mess.

I think you would have to be able to prove you were going to purchase the A$ at the better rate. I guess this would involve some sort of forward intention/contract. After all the rate could have gone with you!!0 -
No one from ING has mentioned (or is likely to) what the actual hold up is. Likely getting funds in place? I don't know perhaps I am clutching at straws, however if anyone does feel the need to complain (as I am pursuing) you will need to speak to ING initially according to the FSA and follow their complaints procedure. If 2 months later you are not happy with the result you can approach the FSA to complain.
Number to start your ING complaint is this: 0800 376 6400
Come on go for it, the more the better. Just because you have now received your cash doesn't mean you can't and shouldn't complain, think of the anguish you went through till it arrived.
I am still waiting too... but :money: can still have :T anyway0 -

I have received an email this morning from the FSA...
The FSA has written to ING on my behalf, but it has 8 weeks to reply, I am hoping, NO, optimistic that this is my backup, just in case0 -
Hi - I was posting last night
There was no intention to annoy anybody - the posts seemed to me to fall into the same category as previous posts re puffins, cakes, birthdays and avatars. In my opinion humoour is a good way of keeping trolls at bay.
I will endeavour not to post anything else lighthearted.KE veteran - life seemed so much simpler then!0
