Kaupthing Edge Chaps/Bacs Transfers NEW discussion

Got my CHAPS from kaupthing, transfered on 9th Oct, finally credited to my account 20th. No refund of £20 chaps charge, bounced my mortgage because of delay and got fined £25 (A&L didn't want to know), haven't had an email from Kaupthing or ing for 6 days now even though have been emailing every day.0

Martin - Thanks for your comment about keeping on subject
I made two CHAPS withdrawals on the 8th at around 04.00 destination Barclays
One small one (a few k) from my wife's account arrived on the evening of the 20th.
One larger one (a few 10s of k) from my account has not arrived in the linked account
ING have not been helpful, simply reading the web statement.
I have not received an email from ING saying I had fallen into the 5%
I spoke to a KE service agent this morning who re-iterated the story about Thursday for Friday and stated by default, I must be part of the so called 5% She was able to view my account and confirm the transfer had been made.
When pushed on the “expected to start arriving” line she said this was to cover issues with receiving banks. She confirmed interest and returned CHAPS fees in due course without being prompted.
I am very disappointed with ING for failing to keep customers informed of the true position. In my experience these "smoke-screens" are only produced when the true story would be even more damaging.
ING - I do hope when I get my deposit I will eventually be provided with a sincere apology and explanation for this appalling customer service.
Thanks to all those who have posted relevant information please continue to do so. It's so good to know you are not the only one!
Not much can be done until Monday 27th - let's hope it's good news before then.ING/KE Debacle
8/10 CHAPS to Barclays
31/10 MONEY ARRIVED0 -
1. 5% Plus Club: What has happened to this 5% figure? there are many of us who have not received any email or communication from ING, is there anything known about the 5% PLUS as we should maybe call ourselves?
2. BACS withdrawals: I have read on this thread that some have made online BACS withdrawals since 10 Oct AND have already received funds in their linked accounts, I have just made small BACS withdrawals from our 2 accounts and will post if/when the funds arrive in our linked accounts.
Maybe we would already have our xfers of 9 Oct if they had been BACS rather than CHAPS? who knows... maybe one of the chaps could enlighten us.
In answer to questions such as this, may I respectfully suggest you phone KE on 0845 31 32 33. At least you'll get pure, unadulterated B.S straight from the horse's mouth (if you'll forgive the crossed analogy) if you talk to them, rather than the regurgitated variety (ugh!!) that gets peddled here, which is now clearly a case of the blind leading the blind.
BTW. Don't make the mistake of talking to Ing Direct (tel: 0845 848 0282) because they know absolutely nothing, and you'll get merely one of a hundred or so kids that merely read out prepared scripts that you can read here:http://www.ingdirect.co.uk/kaupthingedge.asp. After several such attempts, I can assure you that they definitely can't add any further info to this, even if you escalate to a supervisor.
The suggestion of complaining to Ing's 0800 Complaints number posted above, well I've been there, done that ages ago. It gets you no where. You might come away feeling better but it achieves nothing and you just get more and more and annoyed at them.0 -
CHAPS REQUEST 8 OCTOBER 2008 - STILL NOTHING RECEIVED
Still nothing - now 12:28 on 22 October! No email from KE and as previous comments when phoned to speak to someone just "read the web statement" and not prepared to try to give further information. I asked why CHAPS payments seemed to be an issue and why mine was a problem - could not answer! Are we in the 5% - we assume we are as we have had no information and no sign of any money - we have a KE account with a withdrawal for both the funds and the CHAPS payment but no sign in our link account. Lets hope we can all rest easy next week as promised - but I doubt it!CHAPS requested 6th OCTOBER to HSBC Link Acc
Transfer out 8th October - CHAPS refund 29 Oct (dated 7th Oct on KE Statement), funds into link Account 31 October 3pm0 -

Yes it may well get you more annoyed at them. However this is the correct procedure for complaining. You can also complain to KE (as I am also doing) but as KE is owned by ING the FSA has informaed me that you must pursue through ING in the first instance.
It may annoy you but you may be able to annoy ING in the long run for this farce. I say make your voice heard and do it loud!!!!

Hi Henden, I think you're right. I made two BACS transfers on the 6th and 9th October which arrived on the 10th and 17th Oct respectively. I also did a CHAPS transfer in between the two on the 8th. My CHAPS transfer did arrive but took until the 20th. I know I'm lucky to have received it on the 20th but reading how many of you on here still haven't it does appear to be more luck than anything else.
So sorry you're still waiting, it's just so stressful0 -

Hi folks
I see that people are still having a go at those of us that had some fun on the board last night - That is fair enough & we have sincerely appologised. I would however like to point out that at the beginning of all this, we were continuously accused of being a bunch of doom & gloom over reactors!
I have also noticed that those having a pop have just recently joined the forum - Or only just started posting! The people of last night have been here from the onset of this crisis & have went through every emotion imaginable before now - Last night was just one of many!!
This board has been a great source for people to share information etc....But it has also been a tremendous source of comfort to many
We hade some fun when no one else was posting....Again I say SORRY!!Non illigitamus carborundum!!0 -
my wife and I both have savings accounts with KE. We are in the process of emigrating to Australia and have been monitoring the exchange rate for the AUD/GB closely as we need to move large sums to Australia. We arranged online withdrawal on Friday, 10th Oct and the sums were shown as transferred on Mon 13th Oct but have never arrived. Because ING now have our money somewhere I was unable to purchase the Dollars when the rate was best; over $2.60 to the pound on Thursday 16th. The rate has been falling ever since and it's inevitable that when and if I get my money in my linked account, the rate obtainable will be much less thus causing me to lose the opportunity to have bought dollars when I intended. I estimate at current exchange rates this has lost me about $20,000.00 AUD.
ING do not even seem interested in our loss or even where our money is!
No assurance can be given when we will see it. We are in the magic 5% it seems. I think this must be the biggest 5% in the world.

AB, that KE No. is actually 08451 31 32 34. I've just phoned them and you are correct-all I got was regurgitated BS. I asked him why there have been no updates from ING since Monday and he said it was because nothing had changed since then. I told him that it was not fair to its customers, many of whom are really worried, that some updated communication has not been forthcoming as in this scenario it is not a case of "no news is good news". He agreed and promised to suggest to some ING rep that this should be done to allay our fears. However, don't hold your breath!
