Looks like Leeds would be the closest, so they'd have to deliver one to me. Not sure if they do that but I could enquire. I still definitely want a CKCS or a x of one! You watch me end up with a Doberman or something  No j/k I wouldn't go for something that big! I'd never fit in the bed with it & the cat lol0 -
UKTigerlily wrote: »Well I just posted on Dogspages for a dog so will see what happens. I'm tempted to call the RSPCA but they'll probably say no right off! Anyone know anywhere else I can look? I'm not gonna buy dog things yet until I know what i'm getting, cause if I buy CKCS size & something totally different pops up of a different size lol
ooh good luck, there are loads of CKCS appearing on dogpages at the moment - but loads of them are in wales - keep us posted!0 -
Yeah it's at times like this I wish I drove tho i'd want them to homecheck me too to be sure cause of the space! I was gonna wait but I think i'm ready now! Well, to start looking for a rescue anyway. I want an old one! lol long as it can still go for lots of walks.0

Well, the RSPCA said no cause I don't have a garden & it's their policy to not rehome with no garden, because what if at 3am the dog needed to go out, I wouldn't walk it to the park
Well no but I have a bl00dy garden as such right at my front door lol what does it matter if the dog has to be supervised & she said that's how they end up in rescue, I don't think she understood what I mean about it being on a long lunge line, it wouldn't be able to escape!
Anyway, Animal Aid have a dog which seems to fit the bill, they are fine with me being on benefits & not having a garden as it can still go out, they hadn't cat tested her but went & did so & called back to say she seems fine on a first check.
I have to go up to see her, right now she's all they have that's suitable with cats but even if she goes, at least she'll have a good home & they will get more in that are cat friendly & they seem to so far accept what i've said about the flat size. They suggested a baby gate at the door to the passage so if I remove a bar the cat can escape through it & the dog can't follow which seems a sensible idea so I shall get one.
I don't drive so if my friend can't find someone to take me up there i'll go with her on Tuesday if this dog is still available or another suitable dog is. Apparently she's very quiet, well mannered/behaved & walks well on the lead. No signs of aggression & she's house trained, 6yrs old. So I have everything crossed that she's there when I get to go to see her & we get on & then they accept where I live etc
Alot of ifs but i'm hopeful & if not i'm hoping something else comes in. I could get a bus to the village but the lady said it's then a walk up a 60mph road with no pavement to get to them & she wouldn't advise it! And apparently you can wait ages for a taxi & there's no taxi firms in the village but that's ok, my Dad can take me up a week tomorrow & my friend can get a taxi with me Tuesday next week! If/whern I get her or any dog i'll get a taxi home.
Long way to go yet but i'm hopeful she sounds lovely!0 -
ooh how exciting - I wish I lived closer I would give you a lift to go and look at her!! (I love looking at dogs! how sad am I!)
As you say, if she goes or is not right for you, there will be plently out there who are right! Have you seen a piccy? What sort of a dog is she?0 -
Failing that try www.oldies.org.uk - not all the dogs are old as such, just no longer "appealing" to most people due to being around 6 or over... sad fact though it is...
Depending on what rescue or if it is the OC themselves then they definitely home check and in some cases can arrange transport for the dog to get to you if need be (other demands depending - and volunteers depending)

Yeah she's at kennels in Huncote! I'm sure when I worked @ East Leake we took any rescues there that weren't getting homed. They said they think she may have some Staffie in her so i'm thinking maybe not even 1/2 Staffie or they'd be able to be more definite, they said straight away so really not bigger than a Cocker Spaniel size so at least they understand what I mean. She's dark brindle I think they said, doesn't bark much at all & is house trained, not aggressive etc
They said right now she's all that would possibly be ok with cats, first cat meeting went good! I can get to Huncote but she said the road from the village to the kennels is 60mph with no pavements so she wouldn't advise walking up, tho I think that's exactly what i'll do! lol
I just want to see her! I think i'll try to walk it anyways, long as I face the oncoming cars & move right into the verge I can't see an issue. They can't miss me & it'd be daylight! lol her name is Pixie tho lmfao omg I so cannot call Pixieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee come to Mummy! lol would have to find something different maybe! Still i'm gettin way ahead!0 -

You be careful, you dont want to get mown down!!
Pixie is not such a bad name - when I was a teenager a friend had a cat called Elvis and it used to make me laugh when she went out the back door to 'call Elvis in':D
Even worse another friends mum had a dog called Dillan - and she used to call his nickname across the park at high volume.... "Dildo! Dildo! Dildoooooo" - she had no idea what it meant - but we were in crying hysterics from it.:rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Or the infamous cat belonging to Jasper Carrot - called "Lollipop"... :rotfl:DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
