I was thinking about you again the other day and thought perhaps a short haired dog might be the better for you in the set up you have right now. This was after coming in with my cocker who I have clipped short because his coat is a nightmare in the wet ( and this is N Ireland so its always wet). I need a couple of towels a day to dry him and even then he lies on the bed or sofa and soaks them. Personally I dont mind but then I have a lot more room to have smelly towels drying and my bedroom door can be closed and I have throws for the sofa. Just thinking how you might cope in just the one room? A short haired dog wouldn't pick up as much mud or get so soggy and will be easier dried off
Would dry towels in another room, not worried about mud or mess lol i'm so not houseproud, I mean I keep it clean but i'm a total animal nut, i've even been known to sleep in a stable once when a horse I was working with was sick lol Would just stick towels in the bathroom or hall or somewhere! Good thought though so thanks! lol i'm always drying the cat off & she loves nothing better than to jump on me when she come sin soaking wet! I don't mind long haired or short haired, more worried that i'll be right for the dog than any inconvenience it'd cause me, I don't mind all that!0 -

Its not cold, not realyly but it would blow you away out there today.
In fact a car got hit by a flying branch just outside the house there this morning and I kept the walks short today - too many things flying about0 -

Awwwwwwwwwwww my fave colour lol I will definitely be getting a rescue when the time is right! And yeah, thanks everyone for all the great help & advice & keeping the thread nice & friendly! Makes a change to not have people !!!!!ing! Tho I guess this isn't the Arms lmao0 -
I think you have been a breath of fresh air on here tigerlilly - you come across as someone so keen to do the right thing by any potential dog, rather than someone determined to do what you like, whether it is fair and responsible or not!!
Good luck when you decide you are ready, and keep us informed!0 -
You will definitely be getting all the info! I'll seek this thread out & update when I do things! Now I have to spend lots of time researching everything to do with dogs! And yep, I want to give a dog everything it needs (Tho no designer hoodies or bling collars i'm afraid!) and if it takes 10yrs to find the right dog so be it! I'm just so happy to know it's gonna be a part of my future & hopefully next year!0

I am sure you will easily find the right dog - there do seem to be a lot of CKCS in rescues at the moment - several on dogpages, including an ex breeding b1tch, and an odd little pug x CKCS! bless :-)
It may be worth maing enquiries with some of the rescues who seem to have them in occasionally, to see if they would consider your circumstances (i.e. no enclosed garden, but home a lot, very keen, and happy to walk and exercise frequently!)0 -
Well I just posted on Dogspages for a dog so will see what happens. I'm tempted to call the RSPCA but they'll probably say no right off! Anyone know anywhere else I can look? I'm not gonna buy dog things yet until I know what i'm getting, cause if I buy CKCS size & something totally different pops up of a different size lol0
