ah go on, you ca tell us! lol - lots of handy stuff on dogpages but it can be a bit cliquey I find, and if you dont agree with them they dont like it!

They got a bit sniffy with me a while ago becuase I said I found the constant use of an emoticon smashing another one over the head with a hammer a bit disconcerting -hit.gif- whilst I care about animals I have no desire to smash people's skulls in with a hammer!

I wish there was an emoticon for trying to understand that some people are not able, equipped or educated to deal with animals responsibly!

Sorry tigerlilly totally off topic here now!

Let's just say that "Thou shalt not have any oppinion that may differ from that of the board Owner Ray" :) If you mention my name on there it is enough to get you banned btw (well unless it's slating me ofcourse ;) )- oh yes - people HAVE been banned for associating with me :D
I'm quite flattered that I weild such fear in the little hearts of people over there :p
Oh and then there was the slight incident of him trying to threaten me once... and didn't like it when I posted his mail all over the interweb for all to see.... :D Fancy not wanting people to see his mail threatening me! Sheesh! ;)

  • Yes, I agree with pickpocket. Also they are prone to heart problems, and eye problems. They are lovely dogs though. Fi

Guy in pet shop recommended Nutro Choice dog food when I said I want Burns/Arden or JWB, showed me the ingredients on them & that one had meal as the first which he said is bone & may not have meat on it. How do I know tho that Nutro aren't linked to the store like Hills seem to be to Vets etc lol gawd it's a minefield! Nutro Choice experiences? And dog food websites pls that are good value?

oooo a silly question, if some dog approaches when mines on the lead & gets nasty, she could go back @ it which I want to avoid, so other than asking the other dogs owner to call it off walking away etc what do I do?! Of course i'd try to restrain the other dog but just in case it's something like a chavs rotti (As we allllllllll know ALL rotts r viscious  j/k I love them!)

It sure is & i'm terrified but excited! I can't wait to see her by a nice warm radiator not in a cold kennel. Then i'll be on here needing to find out cheap suppliers of everything & more! I wish I could get her in the morning but i'm not paid until Friday & have to pay the adoption fee & a taxi home + all the bits & bobs.

Your Dog just arrived today in the post with a free food sample Yay & P@H gave me two 100g samples of their Wainwright's make. Still confused on what to feed, pet shop say Nutro! lol how do In know if they're paid by Nutro to promote it!

Just had a nasty thought, it's all very well leaving her in the kitchen @ night, but she's gonna open the cubbys isn't she, one of which has old paint stuff in!

Im looking forward to pics of ur new arrival! :j
  • I think it is possible to worry too much about what e feed our dgs - they regularly lived on tea and bread with the odd table scrap till 20 years ago, and many lived to good old ages, although I agree its not the best diet for a dog - my gran had a little dog that made it to 18 on cooked liver, chocolate biscuits, bread and butter, leftovers and those stinky chubb things!!

Also, I am not sure that meat content is all that important, dogs are not obligate carnivores, (unlike cats) and most can handle a broad diet which includes cereals and veggies! loads of people buy a high meat (expensive) biscuit then top up with foods such as veg, pasta, rice and weetabix to add roughage and variety- they may as well have bought a cheaper food with those ingredients already in it as far as I can see.

I would advise finding something that your dog likes and looks well on and has decent poos etc on!

I feed Wagg working dog which is cheap as chips, designed for working dogs such as working collies and gun dogs and has cereal as the first ingredient - but my last old lady made it to about 16 on it, my current dog is fit and very shiny, as is my mums who also eats it. (the vet was amazed at how fit my mums dog is, said she was in much better condition than most he sees)

Greyhounds race on foods like skinners, burgess and wafcol which are cheap and contain quite a lot of cereal - I am not at all convinced that expensive is necessarily best when it comes to dog food, and as for IAMS etc, I would not buy their food cos of their animal testing record.

FC....My nana had a dog when i was little that lived untill he was 16 being fed on scraps, bonios and he loved bowls of tea....he was such a character too! And in those days they had dog licenses, i think they should bring them back!

lol! I was just reading Jemes Herriot's life story (i.e. Alf Wight - his real name) and he had a much loved little terrier who was lively and full of beans and never ill despite living exclusively on a diet of pancakes, milk and sugar, till he was hit by a car at the age of 14!
