  • I've never given mine a KC jab, as its not that effective, and a healthy dog will normally get over KC quite quickly anyway (its only like a cold in humans really)- but its up to you.

Won't bother then! It's £32 for the up nose KC & £32 for the normal booster, so i'll just have the normal booster next year for her! Unless anywhere we go demand it like Hydrotherapy/training etc
  • yeah, they will tell you if they want her to have it, but I dont see much point if not.

Just been on the Dogpages forum & someone has a dog that needs 3x £65 tests a month, so if I insure with Direct Line's £6k per condition policy, that'd run out in 3/4yrs. Should I put her with Axa too? I'm tempted by M&S but know they have the % after a certain age. Any of our resident Vets have dogs that use up 6k? Or dog owners reached that? Thinking something like the cat has @ £7k each year for life policy would be better? Don't mind paying out any amount in insurance, just don't want to risk running out & i'm thinking maybe £6k would run out quick?

good morning! I think the £6k is per condition per year, not ongoing, but I am not 100% sure so it would be worth checking.

Oh good old DP... Haven't seen the thread as I'm banned :) (Long story!) but I think it's pretty rare that a pet needs 3x £65 tests each month... Kira has needed plenty of vet treatment and we've never had a problem... One of my friends have 2 dogs and she's a vet and it's very rare that dogs need that amount of tests OR treatment. I remember we discussed it a while back as I was commenting on how ruddy accidentprone my hound is (she leaps before she looks... *sigh*) and I asked if I should change her insurance - especially given that she is BC/GSD mix so there is a good chance of hip problems... She said stick with Axa (through RSPCA) they're pretty good at coughing up...
Directline (who the cats are with) have some good policies but the dog is now with the RSPCA which uses Axa. None of them have ever moaned at coughing up for her. I went for the top policy that Axa/RSCPA do and haven't heard any bad things about them yet... :)

Just checked the RSPCA policy again and it's £6.500 per condition.

ah go on, you ca tell us! lol - lots of handy stuff on dogpages but it can be a bit cliquey I find, and if you dont agree with them they dont like it!

They got a bit sniffy with me a while ago becuase I said I found the constant use of an emoticon smashing another one over the head with a hammer a bit disconcerting -hit.gif- whilst I care about animals I have no desire to smash people's skulls in with a hammer!

I wish there was an emoticon for trying to understand that some people are not able, equipped or educated to deal with animals responsibly!

Sorry tigerlilly totally off topic here now!

lol thanks. Yeah definitely £6,000 per condition no matter how long that takes to reach. I've read a few people that have meds for a hundred or so each month, if she's unlikely to hit £6k then i'll leave her as she is!
