lol yeah I am so not keeping Pixie, I wondered if it was mean to take her name from her as she's obviously lost everything else she has, but the kenels named her & they probably never use it, so Pixie has to go.
First I wanted Pepper, right now Meg is sticking cause I always said if I had a Daughter i'd name her Megan (A few poor rabbits have had the name also) Megan doesn't suit her but Meg does, she even has a grey muzzle lol

But yeah i'm open to suggestions, keep trying to think of something better but so far only Meg has taken with me. (And the cat is Tess - I didn't name her- but that's a shortened name & not Tessa lmao so it'd sort've fit.)

I agree with her following me through a door & ignoring her when I leave totally & will be doing that! I've also been onto trainers, I want her to have obedience training of some sort & if anywhere close did agility or flyball i'd love to do that some day. I think assuming all goes well we will do this dog dancing thing too lol ohh & if I dare take her on a bus the Hydrotherapy, but i'm too scared to try a bus, she might pee! lol

I was gonna wait outside with her till she goes when getting her home, she might take all night tho! lollll

I plan to get up in time to walk her at 8am every morning so then she can be fed when she's back & in the kitchen while the cat has hers in the main room. (After I & the cat have ours maybe?). Then I know i'll take her for about 20 minutes @ 11pm. Also I want an hour in the middle somewhere, I bet we walk tons, I hope so! If she's tired she won't chase the cat so much I hope!

I plan to buy lots of books so if anyone knows any good ones please yell! I'm visiting her tomorrow morning :j & going shopping in a minute, well later! Shall I get her a treat? It's only Asda so nothing good but would she be ok to have something?

I was wondering about what to feed her too. I plan to leave her on whatever she comes with for the first ten days (I get her on 6th & am paid again on 16th) then she'll have had time to settle in & I was gonna take her to the Vets to see if she might be speyed or not & how she is & get her nails clipped & shown how.

Then I thought i'd change her gradually to something else, I want mostly dry as I know that's good for her teeth (The cat can't have it but the dog is healthy afawk and so can) & then maybe 1/2 pouch of Natures:menu so she gets some wet (They're 300g pouches & that seems alot?)

What about Burns? My Rats have it as part of their diet & love it. Would that be good? I plan on two meals a day, I feel one is a long time to go without food! Even if she's only supposed to have one lol I planned on one meal after me & the cat eat in the morning, so about 9:20? then another after we eat at night so maybe 6:30ish?

I don't want her to end up like the dog I used to kind've own which was a barrel to say the least!
• well, good luck tomorrow, yes, I think I would take her some treats and maybe try to get her to sit for a little treat a few times - will let you know if she has any basic ttraining, and will start to establish the relationship between you. Perhaps take some little treats or some that can be broken up small, so you can keep giving her a nibble every time she does something good, or you want to get her attention!

I would avoid those knotty rawhide bones cos occasionally lengths of them can be swallowed whole and cause problems, and I do not trust those baked cow bones not to splinter personally!

My mums dog is a fussy eater, but those flat strips seem to be popular with almost all dogs, though I guess they are not the healthiest they do smell tasty! lol:rotfl: and they can be broken into little bits. I think pedigrees variety are called schmakos, but the supermarket do their own too. Alternatively, little cubes of cheese, baked liver or hotdog always do well!

I would avoid Bakers as its full of colouring, a lot of people recommend Burns, I feed Wagg working dog, cos mine have always done well on it, but there is a lot of choice out there - it may be worth looking at what your local supermarket has to offer, or even what you can get delivered as you dont drive, cos I buy the 15kg bags and they are heeaavy!

I'm totally confused on insurance too, she comes with six weeks Pet Plan, but I don't think i'll renew with them after it expires as £4,000 of cover & no advertising & reward etc isn't too good!

I was going to register her with Vets4Pets as they're the only Vet close that will claim direct with the insurer if the claim is about £400-£500, they recommend Direct Line, it's £80 fixed excess & £6,000 per condition. If the condition goes over a year that's ok, they pay up to £6k for each one, but it doesn't renew yearly, say she got Arthritis like the cat, they'd pay £6k, even if it took 5yrs to hit that, then stop paying.

I don't want M&S cause when she gets old they add a %

Axa who the cat is with do either £50 or £75 excess (You pick) & it's £7,000 for life cover & cheaper, Direct Line I can only pay monthly & I prefer to pay for the year in one go. I dunno what to do, the Vets will claim direct from some companies but won't say which they recommend other than DL cause they have some scheme with them!

Would DL be enough? I asked them & they said they've only had to pay the full 6k a few times, most dogs don't reach it. I'm ok to go with DL but want to make sure she's got enough cover. Trust Pet Plan to change their policy!

My cats are with directline and they pay out pertty quickly thankfully - good job as it was a £1500 claim after the boy cat tried to play chicken with a car... he's a lovvie but not the brightest spark sometimes... ;)

The other pet insurance I use for the dog is the RSPCA insurance - and you can get cashback on that through quidco ;) (well you could, I assume you still can...)

Oh and RSPCA is actually through Axa so best of 2 worlds ;) again we've had claims for the dog through them and they too pay pretty quickly - never moaned about it either so another one I'd recommend :)

Thanks! I couldn't put the cat with DL cause she's over whatever age they cover, but it seems Vets4Pets have something with DL so as it sounds ok i'll put her with them! Just called up & the booster vaccination is £32.00 not including Kennel Cough, so next year when due i'll do the booster then pay the £70.00 which covers her vaccinations for life (All but KC).

When I take her on 16th i'll get the KC done if she's not had it, i'm asking tomorrow if she has, all I know is she had her second primary course of vaccinations Tuesday.

Anyone think of better names than Meg? lol i'll get pics when I get her home, need to buy a digi camera. That's if I can take my eye off her for two seconds while I upload them! lol

I'm quite positive now, tomorrow i'll walk her by the cats & praise her when she ignores them! I guess she'll be ok with the cat once she's got over the excitement or nerves of moving & smelling all the new stuff. I'll praise her when she leaves the cat or takes her attention off her.

Can't wait to get there tomorrow! I suspect this dog will cost me a fortune cause I want to do so much with her, it'll be nice to have company when I go out cause she'll come with me as much as she can.
• I think Meg is a nice name, my friend had a lovely collie called Meg when I was a kid.

OH says Jasmin, Rita or Kylie! or Freda! lol I just thought of Bessie or Bess too, which I like too.

lol thought of Bess but it rhymes with Tess, the cats thick as two short planks & Staffs can be too, so they'd probs both come running! I have a Rat called Jasmine! Keep em coming! Getting her collar tomorrow once i've measured her neck! Not sure whether to walk her on a harness, paranoid she might get out of a collar (Dog I walked when I was a kid always did) of course she'd always have a collar on & it wouldn't be one of those leather & brass 'i'm a hard Staffie' harnesses!

oo that's nice! I'm looking at P@H website to try to find all she needs, cause I get it the day before I get her, so can't really order online things & we have a P@H near me. I am just going to have to get the basics to start off with, well for the first 10 days anyhow.

So I need a bed, food, food & water bowls & a dog gate if I can. I'm hoping to get her a coat tomorrow as I noticed they sell them there & I can always find one I prefer later on. I'm thinking the plastic bed like kennels use should be ok for the first week? I can stick a pillow or something soft in for her, the beds I like are £24-99! I'll get one on the 16th but I just want the basics.

Has anyone taken their dogs by bus? I'm thinking a taxi to pick us up, as i'm unsure whether she'd be ok on a bus? Getting her a collar & lead tomorrow & i'll pick up some more bags for her mess lol

I get a roll of Lavender scented bin liners from a £1 shop in town, have got tons! Her ID Tag should arrive by post before I go to get her. What food & water bowls are best? I saw a cool pink plastic water bowl in P@H, but would plastic be a problem? She can also share the cats drinking fountain if she wants!
