Well what have I been up to.

Sown carrots (Nates Frubund -T&G) in PT covered with fleece
Have started to chit my seed potatoes to be planted in PT border next weekend - protected from frost - Swift which is a first early variety.
    Sorted out seed packets
I plan to sow a row of beetroot by the end of the month and some spring onions (winter density)

So I should get a crop of potatoes by the end of April.
I've never sown beetroot this early, normally the earliest I've sown is March and transplanted them, eating them by May.
Heard today that Chickens don't eat potato plants so thinking I might grow some at home in pots but the jury is still out on this one.
    Kind Regards
    Maz

my chickens didn't touch the potatoe plants so I reckon you are safe.... but.... (and there is always a but!!).. when the sets were first planted.. the chickens thought the bare soil was great for digging in and dustbathing in

Are you doing the beets under cloches/fleece?

am sat here with my garden plans, my seed list and my outline of what to sown when... trying to figure it all out lol!!
  • Many thanks to mum of 4, for sending me the planting plans

I'll keep you posted as to how I get on with them.

    Much appreciated :T

Yes, in the PT but you could also give it a go and plant under protection next month. The crops will be protected in the PT normally about 2 degrees higher at night at this time of year. In day last spring it easily reached into the mid 30's.

I'm going to try celery this year, not sure how i'll get on.
    Kind Regards

Ah of course.. I forgot the polytunnel!

Think I have spent most of today plodding away at my "master" plan... the house has gone to pot! :rotfl: Am nearly there... just checking it all now... and I think I even have room for some flowers :D
