Places like Netto and Lidl have cheap seeds but they may have them in too late for early planting.

Just checked the Netto website and yes seeds are on sale from yesterday. They usually have a big stand with them on at 19p.

I have to be honest, I tend to stick to Suttons and T&M for my seeds. I know they are more expensive but they are good quality seeds and I have had good results.

I put so much effort in ... I know I would probably cry if my crops failed  :rolleyes2

    Hi,
Just wanted to say a big thanks to Mum of 4 for the plans. I have had my allotment for two years and every year gets better. I am harvesting leeks, parsnips and cabbages at the moment so still saving money! (Although ground a bit frozen to get the ground produce out).
Check out if you have a local allotment association from which to buy cheap seeds, onion sets and seed potatoes.
I have grown very sucessfully from cheap Lidl seeds, also their plug veg plants are very good if you only want a dozen of something - much better than my local garden centre who are pricey.
To anyone just starting I would say have a go. Read the packets, look for info on-line, read seed catalgoes or speak to other allotment holders.
I save hundreds of pounds a year and this year I am planning to record my produce as I harvest it and compare it to shop prices.
    Good luck.

Been to Netto today and my local had LOADS of packets. The girl told me although the offer official ends tues they had loads in the back so will leave the rack out till they go.

Loads of varieties of flowers and veggies with sow by dates in 2010 and 2011 :) they also feel quite full of seeds so really good value. They also mostly had the actual variety on the packet which some cheap seeds don't.

The stuff I bought (or can remember lol)

    Broad beans-bunyards exhibition
    spring onion-white lisbon
    coriander
    basil
    carrot-early nantes
    carrot-autumn king
    cauliflower-all the year round
    radish-sparkler 3
    leek-musselburgh
    parsnip-hollow crown
    sunflower-giant single
sweetcorn- incredible F1-not as many seeds in this one but for an F1 variety 19p is soooo cheap
    tomato-moneymaker
    broccolli-sprouting purple

the ones I can't remember so well
    2 types of beetroot-sorry can't remember varieties
    some type of lettuce
    a cabbage
    smaller sunflowers
    allysum (spelling?)
    dwarf french beans

Didn't really look at the flower seeds too much, but vaguely remember another type of bean. No other toms and no peas.

    Go get em!
