Hi Lucy, nice to see you.

I hope your DH recovers from his op swiftly, and that it makes life easier for you both.

Sorry for disappearing, I dropped off for a while:rolleyes: Hope everyone helped themselves to egg custard.

I have had a bit of a disaster tonight - I poured some water down the sink and it came out of the u-bend underneath in the cupboard and it looks as though water has been draining out for several days, the smell is horrendous and all my pots and pans are filthy:mad: I had to ring the landlord to see if he will send his men around to fix it tomorrow because I just cannot do without doing any washing up, plates and pots are stacked everywhere:mad:

Lucy - Hope your DH's knee gets better soon.

Methinks I will have an early night tonight - anything to rest my sore feet really.

If you keep telling her that this bloke is totally wrong for her, she will find him thoroughly attractive. I know its hard but its best to say nothing - one does wonder though why the chap keeps calling the police to get her out, an easy way for him to get her shifted is to change the locks so that she can't get in.

I'm, with Horace on this one - the harder you try to come between them, the faster you will drive her away. Sadly, you can't save her from making mistakes, you can only be around for her to help her pick up the pieces afterwards. The best thing you can do is to let her know that she can always come home, and that she can always contact you day or night, if she needs you - and then get on with your life. This will take the pressure of her from your end, and give her space to decide what she wants to do.

    Hello all,

Cold day in MK today. Hot coffee with brandy, if I may, and is that Black Forest Gateau I see over there??

Colin, what an awful situation for you. I can't advise you at all, never had kids myself, so I have no experience to draw on, but I'd guess the others are right, the more you try to convince her, the more she'll do the opposite.

Horace, eeewwww, you poor thing; I was without a kitchen for a while a good many years back - had to do all the washing up in the bathroom basin. NOT funny at all. I hope your landlord gets his finger out and gets it sorted. Hope your feet are better today, too.

Colin - a sure fire way of getting your daughter to give up this undesirable is to invite him round for dinner, be as nice as pie (through gritted teeth of course). Hope she sees the light and gives him the heave ho.

LW - my landlord sent his man round to fix the sink, the poxy pipes had come apart as it would appear that they click together and I had inadvertently nudged one because I store things in the cupboard:rolleyes: I have now been told not to store my roasting tins etc in the cupboard but put them somewhere else - where for gawd's sake? I only have a tiny kitchen and some cupboards are worse than useless in that they are thin and can only be used for mugs, vases and cereal bowls. Methinks I will have to get a pot rack to go on the wall so that I can hang my saucepans from it and free up some space for my roasting tins.

My feet are much better today - they do look bruised on the soles though, still I am wearing some thick socks and my nice comfy slippers, spending a lot of time sitting on my backside has also helped.:D

A nice pot of English breakfast tea would go down a storm at the mo, with milk and sugar. Maybe I can have a slice of cake or if there is any of the black forest gateau left a small sliver of that would go down a treat.

Hope all is well with everyone today?

Hi Horace, how are the poorly tootsies now?

Lucy, is your OH managing to get around on the new knee?

I've just got rid of one bout of flu/lurgy and now I've started with a sore throat again, so I'm just going to sit quietly by the fire and sip a hot toddy

Hi Daisy - the poorly tootsies are getting better, the balls of my feet are rather bruised though still it serves me right being so stupid because I once wore the leather sole down so much it was almost transparent and now I have a rubber sole on them which seems to be thin so I feel every knobble on the pavement..hey ho, such is life. I am not used to heels as I have spent the whole summer (in fact the whole year) in flat heels.

Sorry to hear that you have caught another bug - just wrap up warm and drink lots of hot toddies or even hot blackcurrant juice.

DH is still using the crutches, but the stitches came out today Daisy, thanks for asking. He's never had major surgery so it's been a bit of a shock for him.
I've learned something this last 2 weeks -- my decision not to become a nurse was the right one:D
He's not a patient patient and I'm not a patient nurse!!!Never mind we've weathered worse.
Hope your throat is feeling better, nothing like a hot toddy in my opinion for a cold or sore throat, it must be the honey!
Colin - I agree with everyone else, the more you tell her he's no good for her the more attractive he'll seem. Just be there for her.
