Sorry to hear that Sue....afraid I am not much help on grandparents rights either as when I split with my hubby, I thought it unfair for his mum not to see the children as she did when we were together, so she still comes round the same night each week as she used to (plus sees them other times too).

I really can't understand why people do this to be honest, yeah there may be a problem with the former partner but nine times out of ten, the parents of that partner are not to blame. It is also unfair on the children as they gain so much from listening to the old stories, the experiences etc.

Well that is how it works with us anyway.....
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Sorry I haven't been around, guys. My friend's six-month-old son died suddenly late Friday night (afternoon, her time), and I've been doing all I can to comfort her from this kind of distance. I think that's probably the hardest thing about having online friends, is not being able to help in more active ways when bad things happen. :(

Trialia, that is so tragic! *sigh* life can be so damned unfair sometimes:(. Even online, I'm sure your friend is glad of any comfort you can offer her at such an awful time. Just knowing someone, somewhere, cares can be a great help.

Not a good day for us as a family....got a phone call from my mum this morning to say dad had had a fall and she had called for an ambulance. As soon as I got to theirs (think I broke a few speed limits along the way), I knew it was a stroke.

Dad is now in the stroke unit of the big hospital and is suffering from the loss of use in his left side and his speech is a little slurred (although that had improved just before I left the hospital) but he is still knowledgable to surroundings, details etc. He was lucky in that he was given the clot busting stuff within the time scale, so fingers crossed he is one of the ones that it works on.

No idea where we go from here because mum is not in the best of health herself and relies on dad to drive, plus after nigh on 50 years of marriage, she doesn't cope so well when they are seperated.

I'm sorry to hear this, SingleSue; you really do have a heck of a lot on your plate, don't you. Hoping that your dad makes a good recovery, and that your Mum isn't feeling too lost.

Singlesue Im so sorry to hear whats happened to your Dad. I hope he's going to recover.

Your right about Grandparents, me and my DH have done nothing but treat ex DIL like a daughter and loved DGS, up until this happened at the end of February we were having him every weekend.

Suep, there's nothing worse than fueds over children - the kids miss out on so much and it's not fair on them or you.

Trialia, sometimes having a friend at a distance helps just as much as the people close to you - it shows you that there is "life" out there...

As for me, I've been out on my scooter today, so am now really sore and tired. The pavements round here are not great, so you get jolts and bumps as you go along - not great when you have neck problems!! Also, some areas don't have dropped kerbs so you find yourself having to do a 3 point turn on the pavement to go back to the last drop in order to bypass a side road!

Still, it was a lovely day to be out in the sunshine and Mrs Grouch was with me which always makes it a good trip!

Kids are due home in about 90 minutes, so I think I may try to have a nap...

God you lot have been dealing with some right sh*t haven't you,.

Suep, I really feel for you. She's being well out of order and I couldn't quite believe you were going to pay that money to her! You haven't done anything wrong and you do have rights. I'm not quite sure what they are but I'm sure you can do something about it.

Singlesue, that's awful news, I hope he recovers well.

You're not kidding. *hugs everyone in the thread*

That reminds me... I want to go find my eucalyptus oil and put a towel over my head... maybe that'll get rid of this blasted sinus headache I've had for days. Anyone else being negatively affected by the air pressure changes this week?
