    Quiet in here!

I had my first driving lesson in 10 months today.

It was just for half an hour and I'm sticking with an automatic this time, and it went really well! :D I really enjoyed it despite being so nervous I felt sick beforehand.

I also finally got everything sorted with the DVLA, I hadn't notified them of my ME when I applied for my licence in 08 as it wasn't listed, and emailed them a while back to notify them, got a letter the other day saying I could keep my license... Thanks(!) despite them not asking any questions...! Driving instructor says they're not too bothered when you have a provisional as you're accompanies but once you've passed they often ask for a dr's report. There are days when I couldn't drive, wouldn't want to, and wouldn't go near the drivers seat of a car but I know those days and wouldn't risk it. He also said he thought my driving was about at the same level as when I had my last lesson and he was impressed, so very happy!

Looking for cars now.. (I know, half an hour lesson and I'm getting ahead of myself ;)) as I need one to practise in and then to drive when I pass my test, just a case of finding a decent one at a decent price now! Also getting one with a decent sized boot as I'd like to be able to put my chairs in without having to fully disassemble.

Hope you're all doing fun things and not feeling poorly! x

Well done!!! Keep going and get that test passed! I put off getting my car test for years because I rode motorbikes and didn't think I needed a car. The thing is that when I finally got to the point of "needing" a car, I had to pass my test first!!

As an ex-biker, I can't believe I'm going to say this: Get a Volvo!

Go for the estate Volvo - there are loads of them around and they go on forever!! The boot is HUGE and prices are quite reasonable. Have a look at Ebay but keep an eye on the engine size as that could cause you problems with fuel consumption as well as insurance.

The other thing to think about is one of the smaller hatchbacks. The boots are great because they go "up". Sit the parcel shelf in the bottom of the boot and fold the arms down on your wheelchair and you're there! The only problem is that everything else has to go on the back seat!!

    How's everyone else doing?

    It needs some work.....

    I am useless at it
Oh I am really quite **it
I can't think of what else to use
I might just have to have a muse
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

We have a Honda Jazz; the back seats fold up so that a bicycle - or a wheelchair;) can be transported behind the front seats without taking it all to pieces. You can also then use the boot for luggage when you go on holiday!:)

    As we've been discussing cars.......
To be sung to the tune of Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive".

    Heading for the shops travelling by his side;
He couldn't bear to leave his motor at the Park'n'Ride.
So we spent oh so many hours just driving round and round
Trying to find the route into the centre of the town.

OK let's go; straight on my dear.
    It's a one-way street; you can't do a U-turn here.
Weren't you the one who said you'd help carry the bags,
But then you went and told your mates that you've got a wife who nags.

Look there's a space; let's park up here.
There's a pub across the road and I could really use a beer.
We've got a week's supply of groceries to get,
And look at those black clouds - I rather think that we'll get wet.

    Come on, we'll shop from nine to five;
We've had our breakfast Weetabix, so you know that we'll survive.
There's only twelve more shops to do
Oh goodness, just look at that queue

    But we'll survive.......:rotfl:

Pulls up chair ....a bit blue. Have been to pain management course today (had started it with such great hopes) and it really isn't for me. It started off ok but now its all CBT & I really don't like it. I know it helps a lot of people but I have places I just don't want to go to. (If that makes sense).

Ended up in A&E at the weekend with a bad water infection and my blood tests show up something or other on my liver.

Also watching the endless scribble scribble about everything I say ...have one more session tomorrow and already thinking of playing hooky.
    Hey ho.....

Dont worry mouseymousey, your not alone there, I've done the pain management course twice over the years, the 2nd time in a freezing cold hall in the middle of winter with no heating and hard plastic chairs  It didnt help me either, although I know it helps some, but we are all individuals and what works for one wont work for someone else.

Anyway I found the best cure for pain today...... brush against stinging nettles  I promise you wont feel anything else for hours :rotfl:( it was an accident )

LW I love the song, sorry Im too foggy to think of any poems myself at the moment.

My last car was a Polo and my wheelchair fitted in the boot fine, also with the back seats down my scooter fitted in well too, but only when I had DH with me to lift it in and out. I got a new car on Saturday, a Peugot 207, the boots a bit larger than the Polo, the cars lovely, but its a bit wider than the Polo and parking it in my garage is a nightmare.

Well hello everybody - long time no see! I haven't been here for quite a while as I've been feeling so exhausted and generally rough! I was planning to go 'back home' for Easter to spend some time with all the family but a couple of days before I started feeling ill - my head was thumping and my glands were swollen! I couldn't go home and spent Easter horizontal and feeling sorry for myself!! I've only just started to feel a bit better, it must have been something that was going round and as per usual I caught it!

No sign of anymore viewers to come and see the house. It looks very slow everywhere at the moment. Properties aren't moving as far as I can see.

I've been trying to read a few pages I've missed but I can't say that I've taken it all in because of brain fog, so forgive me! I see a few of you have had a bit of a rough time. Singlesue, I do hope your back is a lot better and your sons are ok now. Suep - I'm so sorry for your loss.

Hope everyone else is ok and coping! At least we've seen a little sun!! Oh and welcome to all newcomers.
