Just popping in and didn't wanna duck out without saying Happy Birthday to LameWolf
Sorry to hear about your dad SS"I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0 -
Just popping in very quickly...
Dad is doing ok, his speech is a bit robotic and flat, at times he looks confused and vague but he is back on his feet, a little unsteadier than before but at least he is up and about. After his episode yesterday, they did a scan on his neck and have discovered a blockage in his carotid artery...so a contrast MRI today to discover if it is a partial blockage or a complete one.
If it is a partial blockage, they will be having a meeting tomorrow to decide whether to operate (balancing the benefits outweighing the risks) and if they decide to go ahead, it will happen next week.....but he should (not counting my chickens this time!) be coming home tomorrow (now today) afternoon if all goes well overnight.
I've completely beggered my back, it was a little dodgy anyway and have felt like I am walking through sludge the last couple of days but tonight, getting the bins out ready for the bin men in the morning, only went and fell down a hole in the back garden (not a big hole, just enough for my ankle to twist over and for it to upset my gait) and bang, it has gone big time....my eldest had to support me into the house which took an absolute age and was agony, all the while telling me I WAS going to the doctor with it this time.
I thought it was us mums that are supposed to do the nagging, not the 16 year old sons :rotfl:We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Oh, Sue, did you not know, it reverses when you have kids over 15 or so?! I do the nagging of my mum not the other way round
and dad. hahaa.
I'm glad that your dad's doing "ok" I do hope that this time nothing goes wrong! Thinking of you! x0 -

SingleSue listen to your very sensible son. GET THEE TO THE DOCTOR!
I hope your poor Dad recovers soon, and no more nasty strokes. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Be grateful you got an extra 6 years without being nagged and mothered!
I get it from DD2 (10) all the time - well, when I'm being nice to her, anyway, as she'll listen to my voice, watch my posture, loads of things, then she'll come out with
'If your back's hurting that much, why don't to go and lie down and I'll feed the cats?'
when I haven't said a word to her, or she'll take a jar out of my hands and open it before I've even tried to do it myself because
'I can see your hands are hurting'.
This is the same kid who will start an argument in an empty room (and ensure that I lose it before even knowing there's a disagreement) but she can tell so much about me.
It's quite nice being bossed around though sometimes - it reminds me that she caresI could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0
