That reminds me... I want to go find my eucalyptus oil and put a towel over my head... maybe that'll get rid of this blasted sinus headache I've had for days. Anyone else being negatively affected by the air pressure changes this week?Just popping in to wish Lamewolf a very Happy Birthday :bdaycake: and to hope you had a lovely day out with Mr LW.

LW - I didn't know it was your birthday - that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!! Hope Mr LW bought you something nice.
Mrs Grouch and I are off out with Mr & Mrs Grouch Senior today. NHS Wheelchair Service haven't returned my calls, so I haven't been able to tell them how awful the latest chair is and we have no option but to use it today. Oh well.
Have a good day everyone!!In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0 -
Will repeat what I put on the house price discussion board to save time...rushing around like a loony at the moment!
Absolutely amazing news......dad looks like he is coming home today! We're gobsmacked, the nursing staff are amazed and the consultant can't quite believe it...to think that Monday morning he was completely paralysed on the left side, was incontinent, barely able to talk (because of the mechanics of the face paralysis) and not quite with it to today where he is walking normally (well for him, he was already disabled on the right leg), fully continent and talking completely normally it really is amazing.
The staff have said they have never seen a recovery like it, especially from the size of the clot and the large area it covered at the very least, they expected him to have significant disability due to the size and severity of the stroke, to be honest, it feels like my birthday has come 3 days early.
That clot busting drug is truly amazing when it works, it only works on 1 in 3 people who meet the criteria and it appears my dad was the one in 3 people it does work on...couple that with the quick response of my mum in calling 999 because of the adverts on television outlining what to look out for.
Truly, truly gobsmacked and so happy here now.
Oh and happy birthday for yesterday LW!We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Sue, that's amazing! Really pleased for you!
LW, I had no idea it was your birthday, sorry! Happy belated birthday and I'm glad you had a lovely day!
Tria, my headpain's been a lot worse over the last few days to the point where I fell down the stairs on Saturday night, pressure would explain it, the extra pain makes me feel so much worse and I've been back in bed a lot more again, but at least there's a reason!0 -
Hi everyone,
I haven't been in for a while again because of the ol' health bits falling apart again and haven't even managed to lurk properly either!
Suep - I'm really really pleased for you about your dad .. absolutely fantastic news and hope he goes from strength to strength too.
LW - Belated Happy Birthday wishes. Glad you had a good day even if you ended up paying for it!
I think the last time I was in here, I'd just been diagnosed with duodenitis. It's gone on from there now and after a spell in hospital, I'm now waiting for the confirmative tests for Crohns disease. It was a heck of an experience and I've never been in so much pain in my life. An ambulance was called but it took nearly an hour and a half to reach me. I live about a mile from the county boundary and 4 miles from the hospital but the ambulance who came for me had to travel over 25 miles to get me ... and was apparently delayed as they were on another job! It didn't get much better in A & E either and I was left in agony for 5 hours before being seen by the doctors and they even lost the first blood tests they took ... and they finally did a ct scan on the 5th day after being admitted and it was like all systems go. Within 2 hours of having that, I saw my doctor, the dietician, started on anti-biotics and steroids and was started on nutrition drinks as I'm apparently malnourished!
I'm currently on a low residue diet and whilst it's great that I can have all the cakes, biscuits, jelly, ice cream etc and chocolate I want, making an enticing meal when potato is the only veg allowed is a bit of a 'mare .. ! It is basically a no-fibre diet so it also means no fruit or salad stuff either. It certainly has cut my shopping bills but not the kind of MSE 'ing I planned or way I'd recommend, lol.
Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine.0 -
bluedog it's Singlesues Dad that had the amazing recovery.
It is really good news, and you and your family must be rightly thrilled, Im so pleased for you Singlesue.
Im at war with a rat in my front garden. The cheeky b*****r keeps coming in and eating all the spilt bird food under the tree where I feed the birds. I keep going out and clearing the mes up with a dustpan and brush,a nd Ive brought a new feeded with more of an edge aound it so there wouldnt be so much mess. I dont want to stop feeding the birds and dont really want to put poison down either as my dog goes out the front a lot. Today I spotted him again so I've poured loads of cayenne chilli pepper around the bottom of the tree to see if that works. Knowing my luck he's probably a mexican rat or something :mad:Real stupidity beats artificial intelligence every time.

It wasn't good news in the end....dad had another stroke while in the discharge lounge at the hospital and just as we arrived to pick him up.
So he is back in his old bed on his old ward.We made it!
