Thanks, I did try to say it would enable him last night but he wasn't having any of it...he just saw it as admitting he had a problem and being a weakling.

I have asked the exam officer (he did at least say I could contact her for advice) for assistance and she agrees with me that it would be an absolute tragedy if he lost marks because of being in pain where help was available...especially as she sees him as an exceptionally bright young adult (something else he won't accept, after years of being told he was slow by teachers).

Thanks for the suggestion though, think working on the enabling part might eventually get through...although on a softly softly basis so as to not incite Mr Macho! :rotfl:
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Well... Ask him outright, what's more important? Having to ask for a scribe but passing his exams with good grades, or getting lousy grades that'll be on his academic and work record for just about the rest of his life?

Sorry if that seems a bit blunt, but I've learned to be kind of a pragmatist in these matters.

There wouldn't happen to be anyone on here that would like this chrome look suction grab rail? It's brand new, but it does have a few spots where the chrome look has come off, I've had a replacement sent out and they told me to keep this one, there's nothing wrong with it other than the slight cosmetic issue, and that's not very noticeable, it's just that it was brand new and I wasn't overly happy.

It's not for use for supporting entire body weight but for balance/extra support.

Will happily send out to anyone who would like it as I only need one!

Hello all, hope you are all doing okay, I haven't been in for a while! I was wondering if anyone with fibro has had symptoms that feel like very cold sensations in your muscles? I have been getting this for a some time now and it feels horrible. I can't decide if it feels like icey cold or if it is a bad/strange pain! Any help will be aprreciated!

I haven't been diagnosed with Fibro, "just" ME, but I suspect I may have it, I get ice cream headache in my muscles, does that sounds similar at all?

BZ, nope, not seen it - what made you bring that up?!
    This:
Friend of mine said in email, we should pass 2010, do not go to jail and collect a damn sight more than £200!
In the film Adam Sandler gets a remote control where he can skip through parts of his life and such. It's a bit of a moralistic tale about not wishing your life away cos you never know what you're going to miss... I've only seen it a couple of weeks ago and what you said passing 2010 reminded me of it. :)

Singlesue I've promptly forgotten what I was going to say! ....oh yes, I remember now. I know that you're worried, and why, but just try to remember that altho the GCSEs are important it's not the end of the world if they don't go as well as he's capable of. If he's not in the right place to accept the help that would make things easier for him, then sometimes it might just be better to be patient and let him get to that point on his own...? Gcses can always be revisitted at 6th form or later on in life.... :)

I would LOVE it Invasion. I don't have a grab rail and don't really want to make permanent marks on the rented house I live in...:o

Many thanks, I knew I would feel better for asking you helpful souls!! :T I haven't been diagnosed with fibro but with Polymyalgia 5 years ago but since then my Doctor left and the new one says he doesn't think I had Polymyalgia despite blood tests and classic symptoms so he said perhaps its fibro. I know this "cold pain" has been much worse since the cold weather and it has been getting me down. I will try and keep warmer and what do you mean by "keeping pressure passing over them" Bigzippy? Any other advice to help? Yes, Invasion, sounds like the same thing, my kids' call it Mums' brain freeze pain!

Massage if you can bear it I find really helpful, I imagine that's what BZ means? I could well be wrong though!

BZ sorry, glad rail has gone, Jaz got there first. I hope you can find somewhere to get one from, I'm really impressed with my new one (not the chrome look one, but the one on the link, further down than the chrome one) as I slide off the end of my bath lift to get further in the water and get stuck there :o ha! Normally end up pulling muscles in my shoulders to get back up again!

Hope all not doing too badly? :)
