It is a big relief to be out of the hospital...I like my freedom and to be able to grab a bit of fresh air when I want rather than being buzzed in and out of the ward, makes me feel like I am being watched (although I do understand their reasons for the entry arrangements). I can now wander around when the nerve pains are going up and down my legs, when the jumpy leg gets too much in the comfort of my own home or garden.

Afraid not much chance of a relaxing week, because of his hospital admission, I am now behind in my study and not much time to catch up as I have a TMA due in on the 10th...anybody know where I can magic 16 or so hours from on top of the 16 or so hours I will already have to do this week?

I meant to give an update on my eldest sons Ortho appointment which he had on Thursday (yes he did make it), his ligaments in his wrists are too loose to hold the bones in place so they are 'jumping' over each other when he is moving his wrists and then not quite settling back where they should be afterwards. The consultant doesn't think surgery is the way forward as yet as that can make things worse rather than better if all the ligaments are involved (which he believes they are because of his HMS and possible EDS or Marfans), so he has been referred to a hand specialist to see if there is some other way to stabilise and strengthen things.

Shoulder specialist and normal physio next for him but a bit of a break in appointments...they aren't isn't until April thank goodness (although physio is being missed as progress has become static in the delay but then we always knew there would be a bit of a break after being referred to the big hospital from the local physio service), then it goes slightly mental in May with the geneticist and the paediatrician again.

Middle son came out of hospital with a cold...now I have to start watching youngest or we could end up back in hospital again!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
  • I feel your pain about the shopping trip Sue. My autistic spectrum Nephew is obsessed with shopping trolleys and a shopping trip can take hours on good days - that's without complications of other children and poorly mum.

I'm off the benefit list.... and onto the OAP list, complete with pension and bus pass...hooray.

Now I can put "RETIRED" on the "Occupation" box when requested.
    I instantly feel much better.
My cough hasn't quite gone yet though

Does anyone mind if I join in?
Some of you have been kind enough to answer some of my questions and and I could do with someone to talk to at the moment.
I have mobility and mental health problems and am going through a really rough patch at present, just trying to get through each day. I can't sleep at night, even with sleeping tablets etc ( its about 15 years since I could) and find myself binge eating, I mean eating almost anything without really being aware of what I am doing. The next day I hate myself, but can't seem to stop. I hate myself so much that I need to punish myself for my stupidity ( some of you might know what I mean).
I take nearly 40 tablets a day, am in constant pain and can hardly walk due to Prolapsed Discs, Nerve Damage, Foot Drop etc.
I hope thats enough of an introduction, hope to hear from you soon.
  • Hi Sue!!

Pull up a chair and grab a coffee!!

Where do your discs affect you? I've got "double trouble" with cervical and lumbar issues, so I fall over and then don't have the strength in my arms to get back up again!!

I have bright, blue skys and sunshine here!!! Happy St David's Day everyone!!

Hello Sue (& everyone) Oh you poor thing. I have no realistic advice for you (ie I don't know how) but hello anyway, nice to meet you. I have just been reffered to a pain management course (had the first session). Maybe you could pick up some tips from one too? Its done me lots of good (and I know everything)! I think they are as rare as hens teeth. I found out about them on the net and asked my GP. She wasn't sure either - but it all came good.

I love the first day of spring, and its a beautiful one (lifts the spirits). Oscar you must be about the same age as me? (Heading for a birthday with a big 0 at the end of it)?

Dydd Gwyl Dewi Hapus Iawn i chi gyd / A very Happy St David's Day to you all.

It's a beautiful sunny day here in South Wales.

It's very strange this year looking out in my garden there isn't one daffodil to be seen, they are only a couple of inches (the leaves) high yet! They are usually in bloom well before now - last year they started coming out end of January!

    Hope everyone is ok-ish today.

Welcome Saversue it's very friendly here and I'm sure everyone will welcome you with open arms.:) I'm so sorry you are feeling low, please don't beat yourself up.

I take 20 tablets a day and that feels like a full time job! Everyone here suffers with some condition, please don't feel you are alone.;)

Meeeep, it's so pretty! I have a big bay window that I can see out of from my bed, I have 2 huuuuge oaks- "my treees!" with squirrels toddling up and down, and then gorgeous blue sky behind it. I can't see the lambs beyond unless I'm sitting up, but really loving my view since I've been stuck in bed! I'm very excited about spring...

I'm just about to send my email referring myself for a SS needs and carers assesment (for mum) do I need to put as much detail as possible in there, or do I just say I'm referring myself? x
