Afraid we don't have Ipods but the play staff are really good and they have PS2's, a Wii and a gamecube plus DVD's and videos to keep the children entertained, if only the woman sitting with her child in the next bed didn't stop complaining about the noise , even though we could barely hear it and we were right next to it! (her comment last night to her husband was that this is a hospital and not a playground...it's a blooming childrens ward, they are going to be playing with toys!)

That is ridiculous. When I was in hospital, it was far too quiet. I was the only one in there though.:( To be fair, it was new year's eve.

I do hope your son is ok, Sue. I've had celulitus; but it thankfully didn't put me in hospital.

I forgot to ask earlier but how is everyone today? Hope you are all ok or as ok as you can be!!;)

Trialia, have been wondering how did it go with the flat ... did you get the keys and did you get any more information such as water meter etc? When do you leave the mad house and the lovely unfriendly, unkind, inconsiderate people you are now living in and move into your very own place? :j

I've already left the old place; been holing up at my cousin's across-city for the last few weeks while I waited for the council to sort this place out for me, they kept delaying.

Yep, got the keys :) There isn't a water meter, but I'm allowed to get one if I want it; United Utilities do water in my area. Electricity and gas, I had to register with British Gas - the previous occupant's supplier - to have it on in time for the electricity and gas check the council are carrying out next week, but I'm free to change that as soon as BG will let me, after the check. Heating is gas central, not under-floor electric as described on the rehousing site - that was a mistake. I have one large double-glazed window for the front room, the others are single-glazed. They don't have locks, but that's okay because they don't open far enough for someone to get in without breaking them anyway.

Tired! And also tired of my cousin jerking me around about picking things up - I managed to buy a table and six chairs for £20 yesterday, and he said he'd go for them today, but he isn't... *headdesk*

    On a somewhat random but thread-related note... anyone else get super frustrated about needing to eat and not having the energy to get up and make something, especially when you know the hypoglycaemic headache isn't going away 'til you do? x_x;

Sue, hope things are going better.

Yes, yes, YES!! Also, when I've actually managed to drag my carcass into the kitchen to get something, I then don't have the energy to actually eat it. *shrug*

It's not so bad whenMr LW's here, as I've got to feed him in any case; but when I'm here on my own, it's a totally different matter.

Wow, I thought it was just me!

Any road, I hope everyone's having as good a day as they can today.

  • I collect food in my room, currently have pick n mix, a graze box and some mini eggs. When dad's around I send him for things, and at lunch I pack extra things in my lunchbox (so I can throw it up the stairs ;) and have no trouble crawling up) Things like packets of oatcakes are good, as they are packaged in like groups of 6 for lunchboxes but useful for keeping in living room/bedroom wherever you end up spending your time.

This is so familiar to me on a daily basis. These days it's often a bowl of cereal for lunch and toast for supper and even then actually eating is exhausting! I have meals (that my sister cooked for me) in the freezer and IF I remember taking one out the night before I can warm it in the microwave. To do any veg or boiling potatoes is just too much very often! I feel rather pathetic but that's how it is!

Anyway how is everyone today? I am now having a mug of coffee - quite often I feel that I wish someone was here to make me a cuppa!

I've actually (at last) managed to have a shower :) which I haven't been able to do for 3 days  Yuk!! However, although I'm now a clean girl, I'm now feeling exhausted ha! Isn't it pathetic.

SingleSue, I hope you have good news today about your son in hospital, hope you got some sleep last night.;)

This is why I don't cook - because using the energy required to concentrate on it and to stand up for long enough to do so wears me out enough that I don't have any energy left with which to actually eat what I've cooked.

    Well todays update....

Middle son still in hospital, we were hoping after how pleased they were yesterday with the progress, that he would be allowed home today....but todays inspection of his leg didn't go so well. They are not happy that there hasn't been significent improvement since yesterday morning (there has been a mild improvement but nothing spectacular...still looks amazingly better than it did on Tuesday though) and certainly not enough to come off the IV antibiotics, let alone coming home today.

I slept a lot better last night, fell asleep watching the telly at around 10.30, woke at just after 1am still with the headphones on and clutching the remote (I love these bedside stations!), went back to sleep after about 5 mins and woke again at 2.30ish and just couldn't get back to sleep so got up and had a cup of tea in the parents room. Got back to sleep around 4ish, awake at 6, thought begger if I am going to move and begger I have woken up and promptly fell asleep again until 7.15.

Middle son had yet another good night, sleeping from just before 10 through to just before 8 this morning.....he doesn't even wake now when they mess about with his IV or do his checks.

LW - I do that too....last night, couldn't really be bothered to walk to get something to eat in the canteen but thought I better as there would be no way I could get anything apart from carp from the machines later, so walked around to the big canteen, outside in the driving rain (and almost passing out enroute as my blood sugar was too low - not a diabetic but do suffer from low blood sugar from time to time) to find the blooming place closed....they shut at 4.30! So I try the vending machines outside the canteen which are supposed to have microwave meals...machines empty.

Back to our end of the hospital with their hot sandwiches and make do...and then only had half of the baguette as it was a bit eek.

I'm prepared today, got myself a meal I can microwave in the parents room instead.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

TOBRUK, lightweight ;) 3 days would be luxury for me, at the moment I'm going 1-3 weeks between baths, and the most often I've had a bath for over a year is about a week, sometimes 5 days at a very good time, just can't manage any more than that, even with bath lift. I've discovered some "bath in bed wipes" that are pretty good, and wet wipes toooo.

Oh thanks a lot for that Invasion!:rotfl:Well, I didn't like to say, this time it was 3 days but before that I'm afraid to say it was a week  Yuk Yuk and Yuk!! I do take a phone in to the bathroom everytime because I live on my own (have falls frequently) and if I get into difficulty I can phone for help! I lock the front door and make sure the key is out of the keyhole - my neighbour has a key and my sister, although she lives 40 miles away!

Recently I have been more worried as I have had two falls where I have found that I was unable to move my legs at all, and this lasted a few minutes (perhaps it felt longer than what it was) before movement returned! The second time this happened a couple of weeks ago, when I managed to move my legs I tried getting up but fell forwards and hit my head against a wrought iron gate (I was outside the house) and had a cut just around my eyebrow!

When I saw my GP last Friday, she asked me if I wanted her to refer me to a neurologist to see what was going on but after all that's happened the past few months I said that I felt that I was just going from one consultant to another. She decided to order an MRI scan and take it from there, so just waiting for that.

I saw the surgeon on Thursday (8 weeks since the op) and he said he was arranging a CT scan to see if everything is ok and to check if he's missed anything - yesterday had appointment for the CT scan for next Tuesday, phew, that was quick!

The only time I go out is to a doctor's appointment or for a hospital appointment and even that is hard! Takes me a couples of hours to get myself together to go and when I return home I have to get undressed!

Oops, sorry for rambling!;) My coffee has gone cold now!!:D
