    Evening All
There's been an interesting discussion on dpression on DT - lots of opinions but no slanging! Makes a change!!! Its got a bit long now but it was one of the better threads I've been part of.

Bigzippy - quite a lot of these infernal conditions overlap! I apparently have CFS and Fibro too but I really can't be bothered to deal with these seperately and lump it all together as 'my bl**dy f***ing Lupus'!!!

Hi Lamewolf - how's your wii fit going? I have started losing some wieght but it takes it out of me. I can only just manage the house, kids and work most of the time. Mind you my wieght often goes up and down. I like to be around the 9st mark as thats the size of my nicest clothes!!!! Plays havoc with my knees and feet being nearly 12st.
Do you get large swollen lumps on the soles of your feet or is that just me??

Hope everyone else had a good day - I read all the posts but can't distinctly recall any!! Where did I leave my brain again?!!

    Best wishes to all

bigzippy, I do hope you managed to get some sleep eventually! Is it that you just can't get to sleep or is the pain keeping you awake? I have had a problem for a few weeks now of not going off to sleep until 2-3am! This is mainly because of pain, although I'm tired it keeps me awake! After taking my meds at night, I then have to wait until they start kicking in before I can think of going to bed.
I got to sleep about 4.30-5am I think in the end, woke up about 1pm today, hoping I'll sleep better tonight cos I really don't wanna have to go back round the clock again before I get my pattern right. My husband works two jobs, and the second one is at a hotel bar - he had late shifts on fri and sat night (got home 3-4am) and even when I don't mean to wait up for him I still end up doing so most of the time. When he got home from one of them (can't remember which now!) he still couldn't sleep cos he was too wired and ended up coming to bed about 5am... which obv messes up my sleeping then, and it really doesn't take much to screw up my sleep pattern. Add to that that we're trying to titivate DH/MILs house for selling and we had a work party on the weekend that I did far too much at, and then ended up laying carpet in the hall and little loo yesterday, so the pain and trying to find a comfortable/non-painful position is challenging (and makes me want the full king size bed and quilt to myself! ;)) was a factor too. I'm really trying to avoid taking Tramadol to deal with it cos I can't deal with the itchiness that it gives me from 2hrs after taking it to 36hrs later! And I take a really strong antihistamine everyday so that doesn't help either :(

Anway, as a result from that I am wiped out today and have had two "funny turns" today whilst daring to stand/walk, required DH to steady me and be my handservant....which I'd warned him he'd need to be for the week after my weekend activities! ;) We managed to get a lot done tho and I'm really hoping for a quick sale! :)

BZ, it's the fever that's waking me up often in the night, and it makes me nauseas, so the ami makes my mouth dry, and being hot makes me want to drink, but can't unless I want to feel like about to be sick! No actual change in temp on thermometer, the brain thing makes sense, cos often para makes a difference... bizarre bodies!
Yeah I often don't have an actual temp on the thermometer but I'm hot and sweaty/clammy and feverish. Lately i get hot really quickly straight after eating and have to strip off half of my carefully selected warm layers... ah the joys of not being able to control my internal thermostat ;)

It really is the utility bills that worry me more than anything else; I'm not afraid of living by myself. I like to have my own space
Glad you've managed to find a place you like Tria! I've got a 3 bed detatched house atm and our homephone(incl w/e & eve calls)/sky tv/unlimited broadband is £26/month and our eleccy and gas bills per month are av. £30-40, water is something like high 20s a month but when I was in a flat it was more like £18 and elec and gas were obv lower too. Hope this gives you some idea :) Have you factored in for council tax btw? That's the one that always bites me on the !!!! ;)

Lw perhaps it's that you're not hungry and then don't eat regularly that's not giving your body chance to establish a metabolism? Just a thought? *insert shrug here*

Tobruk i remembered that you were having major surgery from posts I'd read last year but couldn't remember why or what for iykwim - but I'm very glad that it's all gone so well! :) There was somethiing else I was gonna reply to you but I've no idea what!!

Jennihen - I can understand that, I just say "my conditions" (perhaps iwth chosen expletives thrown in ;)) these days. I'm not convinced that they really know what any of them are anyway...

Can't remember anything else to reply to now, and I've got a fearsome headache that's making it's way into my bones (feels like) so should prob take myself off to bed...:o

BZ, I've been making the link with sitting up and the temperature EXPLOSION "Rach, you've gone all red!" but it does normally coincide with eating hot tea tooo. Yes, walking round in a strappy top all year leads people to believe you're a freak! ;)

Grr.....there was me thinking it was going to be a fairly relaxed week (apart from an Ortho appointment for eldest on Thursday) and a chance to get all the housework jobs done which had to go by the wayside last week due to half term but it has all gone wrong!

Middle son had a small lump on the side of his foot on Sunday night, I didn't think much of it as it didn't look angry..just a little spot. Well he took his sock off at my parents house last night and boy did it look angry, not just where the little lump was but on the top of his foot too.

So a trip to our little local cottage hospital, they pull his trouser leg up as she was wanting to put a dressing on the lump and discovers the inflammation goes halfway up his shin too! Looks very much like cellulitis to me (hubby had that back in 2001), is extremely painful to touch and walk on and is hot to touch.....nurse drew an outline of the outer reaches of the inflammation and we go back today to see the doctor after a very disturbed night of temp taking, rash checking and generally being a panic mum.

Of course, this also put youngest out (who doesn't like any veering off from our normal routine and hospital on a Monday night is not routine), so I had him almost bouncing off walls until 3am this morning..so here I am, blooming shattered, still needing to get those little jobs done and one child off school!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
  • Poor little man SingleSue. Cellulitis is absolutely horrid.
Paw Hope you are feeling better - sounds like you've had a horrid bug. Hope you get jelly and ice cream with the triplets.
I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to break :D

Hiya Jennihen, the Wii Fit isn't going too badly; obviously I'm limited as to what exercises/games I can do, but I'm managing to do a little each day, which is a good thing. Much better than having to attend the gym, too, as no-one to laugh when I end up on the floor on my backside!:D
I do get some weird swelling of the old feet, but not actual lumps as such. Just my feet hurt like bu88ery if I try to wear anything on them, and putting any weight on the balls of my feet is extremely painful.
But hey, I guess lupus is different for every patient; that's what I've heard, any way. LOL At least it keeps it interesting.... *wry smile*

It's even more fun when you need assistance to remove the layers, trust me on this!:DM y thermostat broke a long time ago - result is I've invested in a large selection of shawls, as I can take those on and off by myself.;)
Worst is at night, I end up literally dripping; but that's probably down to my age as much as anything. Of course, the only thing I can do then is push the duvet off me (carefully making sure Mr LW stays covered, of course).:p

Good point; not helped by the fact that for a long time (before I moved here) I used to have to nip into the kitchen, grab something out of the fridge, and scarper before XH came in and started giving me grief; frequently I didn't eat at all some days.*shrugs*
I'm trying to do better; we've started meal-planning now, so that we're getting a better variety of food iyswim. LOL It's my infamous mushroom risotto for dins tonight, and HM raspberry and lime fool for pud.

Happy Tuesday everyone; it's snowing here, so I hope you're all somewhere warm and dry.:o

I don't sweat anywhere but under my arms... which is something that came on after I got ill... So at least I don't have the problem of soaking through my sheets, I just feel like I'm going to spontaneously combust ;)

LW, I've had problems with appetite for a long time, I was on topirimate (for headpain) a while back and that screwed my body up for a long while as when I was on it I was so nauseaus I could barely eat and lost a stone in a month, since then eating's not been particularly easy, I have small portions- mum knows how much I can eat now better than I do ;) and I eat little and often as I'm not really sure of the feeling of being hungry! On the Pregabalin I'm still not hungry as such, just wanting to nibble things... Maybe that is hungry?

    Oh ramble ramble ;)

Just a flying visit.....middle son ended up being taken into hospital last night as the cellulitis worsened and he is now on IV antibiotics for the next 48 hours.

I've just nipped home to get bits and pieces together, reload the scary monster gas machine and wash a few clothes quickly and get them in the tumble...at his age he can be left for a couple of hours with no harm at the hospital unlike youngest (who is only 15 months younger but emotionally is more like 5 or 6 years younger) plus, when I left, he was engrossed in the PS2 and waiting for the Wii to arrive at his bedside!

Just hope they don't ask him any questions as he hasn't a scoobie (verbal understanding at learning disability level - he looks grown up, he uses big words but when asked about things, gets completely muddled and doesn't quite understand what he is being asked) plus he has a memory so bad he can never remember what he did 5 minutes before!

Tomorrow is going to be fun, got to try to get eldest up to the big hospital (which is where middle son is) for his Ortho appointment but the doctors are expected to be checking middle son at the time I would have to leave to get back here....eldest has said he will jump on the bus but no idea if the time scales fit into the end of the school day and arriving at the hospital on time.
