  • Invasion, I think you just say you're referring yourself. I've just done this and have assessment on 8th. But I did have a previous referral from Physio a couple of years ago which may have made my access to the service easier iyswim. I didn't follow it up as apparently I was "in denial" *g*
I'll come back and tell you what happened and how it went if you like, although I gather services vary very much from one area to another.
Your view sounds wonderful. Always something to look at with trees.

    Happy St Davids Day everyone

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine, it definately makes me feel a bit better :)

Had a bit of a shocking weekend with the pain, did way, way too much! But am back on track now and am feeling ok.

Thanks CWTA, meant to say the other day- but forgot :D- that I hope everything goes ok with hosp and cancer scare etc!

The county I'm in -Shropshire- is full of old people and so they only provide care for those with critical or substantial needs, however that's based largely on independence- of which I have very little- so I'm hopeful... Rightly or wrongly! I'm getting some advice from A4U before referring as my dad's OT suggested they may be helpful.
  • That's interesting Invasion - I'm in Cornwall which also has a large elderly population.
Have never heard of A4U before, so will firtle off and have a nosey.

They're an advocacy service, who used to be- maybe are in some places- called DIAL. They can help with everything related to disability, benefits, care assessments etc :)

I just dropped a heavily flavoured- Disco!- crisp on my bed, and laptop. Ergh, crumby flavoury stuff, and my bed smells like bacon. haaa.

    Hi Sue!!

Pull up a chair and grab a coffee!!

Where do your discs affect you? I've got "double trouble" with cervical and lumbar issues, so I fall over and then don't have the strength in my arms to get back up again!!

Thanks for the offer, have just managed to get a cup of coffee - first of the day.
My disc problems are all in the lumbar area, but I also have vertebrea degeneration and stenosis through my spine but my arms are OK.

Can you please explain how I put in a double quote, as I can't seem to get it to work and keep loosing my reply when I try.

If you go to "Go advanced" below the reply box at the bottom of the page there's a little box above the writing box that's a little speech bubble, you can do more than quote by using that, though I just use the person's name in bold as it saves time and makes it a little easier to read :)

Hello Sue (& everyone) Oh you poor thing. I have no realistic advice for you (ie I don't know how) but hello anyway, nice to meet you. I have just been reffered to a pain management course (had the first session). Maybe you could pick up some tips from one too? Its done me lots of good (and I know everything)! I think they are as rare as hens teeth. I found out about them on the net and asked my GP. She wasn't sure either - but it all came good.

I love the first day of spring, and its a beautiful one (lifts the spirits). Oscar you must be about the same age as me? (Heading for a birthday with a big 0 at the end of it)?

Hello mouseymousy99. Yes I have been on a Pain Management Programme. It was a four week programme at a Neurology and Neurosurgery Hospital and is probably the reason why I have survived this long. It was extremely difficult to get on the programme in the first place, you have to be referred, go on a long waiting list because places are so limited and there is a whole day of assessments to pass before you are accepted.
I have all the information if there is anything you want to know. The Psychological Input was fantastic for me and I can't praise the help and support they gave me enough.

    HELLLLOOOOOOO SKANKIES!!!!!!:D:D:D:D

    Sorry - couldn't resist.:D

Saversue welcome. Don't worry, I am, as you've probably guessed, totally nuts.:D

Actually, it's a survival mechanism; if I didn't act daft sometimes, my Black Dog would eat me for dinner.

Any road..... I hope that a new month means better times for all of us who've had it rough lately.:o
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

Funnily enough, it has been raining in Manchester today! Sunny most of the day though. And I got stuck behind another failed tram this morning... four in three days @_@
